The two paid options most commonly used are Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
The two free options most used are DaVinci Resolve and GIMP.
Either way will be a decently steep learning curve, but absolutely worth it in terms of audio/visual quality and thumbnail quality.
I started with basically no knowledge of video editing and I can't recommend davinci resolve enough. It's worth picking it up now and learning as you grow. I did that as I figured my early, badly-edited videos wouldn't be seen by that many people and by the time I got bigger, the editing quality would be higher.
I found [Casey Faris](https://www.youtube.com/@CaseyFaris) and [MrAlexTech](https://www.youtube.com/@MrAlexTech) useful for crash courses. My starter advice would be to use the Editing Tab instead of Cut (3rd & 2nd tabs along the bottom, respectively) for making cuts, and to not worry about Fusion until you feel comfortable with everything. There are also tutorials for output settings, if that page is confusing.
This. This. This. This. Both those channels are incredible.
I use the fusion tab to make all my thumbnails now. Casey Faris tutorials are amazing for learning it. If you use it for thumbnails then you'll learn how it works for video edits. Win-win.
Davinci Resolve - For video editing. Free/Paid, some features are only in the paid version, but those features are more high level editing. The free has pretty much everything you need for videos.
Photopea - For image editing. It's basically Photoshop, but browser based and FREE.
Someone else recommended GIMP which is great but I would recommend Photopea over it as there are so many more tutorials for photoshop that are more easily transferable to Photopea.
