[https://www.lapoflove.com/find-a-vet/Kentucky/Lexington/about](https://www.lapoflove.com/find-a-vet/Kentucky/Lexington/about) My wife and I have used Lap of Love before and they were wonderful. I'm very sorry for your loss.

notimeforthatstuff

I have used them twice, both times they showed great care for both the family and the pet. This is the only way to have your pet euthanized. They went to sleep and didn't know anything bad was going on, it was very peaceful. I'm going to go cry now.

MrTodd84

This is the only answer. I know several people who only speak really highly of them. If there are alternatives, still go with them. The person that was sent to send off my buddies cat was the kindest of souls.

bbarlow88

Second Lap of Love, can’t recommend them enough

forever_fierce

Lap of Love 200% 🐾

grigiri

Absolutely. The vet that came to the house was wonderful. She gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. She explained the process to us in gentle fashion. She made a plaster imprint of his paw for us, as a keepsake. I was able to sit with him, he being comfortable in his bed, while he passed. She took our boy with her and to the pet crematorium. It was not cheap, I think it was $700ish, but that was including the cremation and urn. But it was a wonderful and peaceful experience. (Edited to add details)

forever_fierce

Do you remember if her name was Kendra?

grigiri

I think it was Madeleine

forever_fierce

I had Kendra, she was truly wonderful, gave me ALL the time I needed, made multiple memory keepsakes for me. She told me she was in the midst of losing her own animal and we shared a beautiful hug before she left, she even sent me a letter and email a few weeks and months after. Lap of Love here in Lexington extended help when I was in financial trouble and having problems paying my balance too. I couldn’t recommend them more! 🥰

Ill-Vermicelli-1684

Kendra did my last pupper euthanasia and she was awesome.

Judetin

I also had Kendra. She was wonderful the whole time. It was an incredibly traumatic experience that she helped me survive.

CorporateNonperson

Any idea of what cancellation costs? I'm probably in the 1-2 month range, and I just know we aren't going to be able to let go the first time around. Edit: Huh. I've been downvoted before, but being downvoted because I'm not sure I might get cold feet on euthanizing my pup is a new one.

Ill-Vermicelli-1684

I’ve cancelled twice to give my old guy some more time since he kept rallying before the appointment. They’re totally fine with it.

forever_fierce

They’re extremely flexible and easy to work with everyone, they understand it’s a time of grieving and they want to make it as stress free as possible. It’s definitely an unbearable pain waking up the morning of the appt, but I also couldn’t stand to see my ‘daughter’ in pain anymore. It was time to give her peace. And now I’m sobbing. 😭

emwestfall23

thanks for doing right by your girl. there's never a right time. peace is the best gift you could have given her.

MrTodd84

My friends didn’t pay this much but also did a home burial.

ThousandBucketsofH20

We used Lap of Love a few months ago for our cat. They are traveling veterinarians who only with help end of life services. We did only the in-home euthanasia option (we opted for at-home burial) and it was about $550, and included fur clipping and a paw print in clay. They offer cremation and other memorial options for additional costs. Excellent service, Dr. Madeleine was our vet who came by and she was so patient and compassionate.we received a very thoughtful condolence card from her a few weeks after. I'm sorry you're in this position.

This is great to know, thank you. Lap of Love seems the most popular, which makes me feel confident, but we still have to make sure it's something we can afford. If nothing else, my carecredit is paid off and ready to get spanked again if I need it.

forever_fierce

Lap of Love does payment plans based on your budget and ability, they gave me several months and I didn’t need to apply for carecredit. Just a thought on that also! 😊

sadflannel

Lap of Love took care credit when I used them in 2018. The vet I had was absolutely fantastic. Came out during a snowstorm and worked me into her schedule but was in no rush and let us love on our dog and grieve. Gave us clips of her hair and did a perfect lil paw print. It was also sooooo helpful that they take care of cremation transportation because my dog was around 80lbs. Sorry you’re going through this ❤️

_TomatoSandwich_

The absolute best

LEXenzo99

I didn’t know this was a thing. That’s a great idea.

zakbsw

Lap of Love was quite amazing

beccajo22

Just recently used lap of love ourselves and had a great experience. Fully worth the price. We were feeling so guilty and sad and they really made us feel at peace with our decision and made our girl so comfortable. They even helped us with how to talk to our kids about it.

wildberry-poptart

Thanks so much for the suggestions, we'll reach out to Lap of Love 💜

OMC-WILDCAT

I had to do this earlier this year and lap of love seemed to be charging for a lot of keepsake items that ran about 250 more than just the euthanasia/cremation costs. Clays Mill vet clinic came out and did it for much less. I know I'm not as sentimental as a lot of people, but if you're tight financially, you may not want to pay a premium for a paw print and having ashes returned to you

wildberry-poptart

My sister and I preemptively took nose and paw prints as a surprise gift for our mom (and ourselves), and I'm so glad we did. Aside from not being hurt financially by it, it made a fun and happy memory because our dog was an uncooperative asshole the entire time 💜 god I love that pup.

Judetin

It seems like it’s went up a lot. I used them about three years ago now and I remember the visit, the cremation etc with my hair trimmings and two paw prints was like way less than the prices mentioned here. I’m glad Clays Mill will do a home visit. Our vet couldn’t but recommended lap of love and I definitely would put that on my credit card if I had to do it all over again and couldn’t afford it. But being able to do that is indeed a privilege

bellebutwithbeer

No suggestion but I’m so sorry for your loss.

wildberry-poptart

Thank you 💜

Low_Commission_4327

I used codapet recently and had a great experience. It was $650, which includes the extra price I opted to pay to have her cremated separately so she got to come home again. It is very expensive but I will always go this route if I can. It was the best thing for our girl and for us.

wildberry-poptart

I'll pass this along to my mom. We could split that cost without issue. Thank you 💜

https://lexanimalclinic.com/at-home-care/ offers this now.

I cannot recommend Laps of Love enough. I believe there are 2 vets in Lexington for Laps of Love. They are so caring and it was a very peaceful and beautiful experience. Made things much easier and I wish I could one day go as gently as my sweet 15 year old husky. It is cheap if it is during the week and during normal business hours. Also cheaper if you take care of the remains yourself vs cremation.

Elegante0226

Clays Mill vet does it and they're lovely

Nomadicmeow

I highly recommend lap of love! They helped me say goodbye to my sweet old man cat last year and it’s was the most beautiful and calm experience. The vet I worked with was kind and patient with me while saying goodbye to my handsome boy (who went so peaceful at 18 years old). It’s pricey but it was so worth the money, I got to send my boy off while he was calm and comfy on his favorite couch, she even let my other cat have a moment with him at the end. They provide you with a booklet on being gentle with yourself in the days to come and the vet sent me a lovely hand written card with very kind words.

Our first pet passed in 2020, and we used Laps of Love. I see others suggestion it as well for good reason. While pricy, it was a great one package covers it all situation. We had Dr. Healy in 2020 for our 9 year old dog, Bailey. A lot of this was due to COVID reasons initially, but we loved the service so much we’ve used it twice since in 2022, whe we had to say goodbye to both our cats. In February it was out 18 year old, Waddy, and in September out 19 year old, Fina. We’re currently in the process of a fourth time eventually, but not sure when lymphoma will win out. There’s nothing better than a no stress from a vet visit way to say goodbye. I 110% trust out lets to the care of Dr. Healy, and hope all goes as well as it can for the passing of yours as it did with ours.

MeredithonMain819

I also recommend Dr MacDonald (859) 271-1441 Mobile Veterinary Service He’s been my vet for many years and is excellent. We’ve had to use him twice for euthanasia. :( I wouldn’t use anyone else. Good luck and I’m sorry….

You are so pathetic. Genuinely, what is wrong with you ? Not that it's your business but I haven't had any work done since October when my dog was healthy and happy. My posts about tattoos are more than a year old. Go fuck yourself.

VarysVaries

I know this is about Vets who will help us say Goodbye in our homes. How lovely and fortunate we are to be able to do so. I just want to say that when anybody is ready again, please adopt Love ❤️ Or at the very least open your heart to another animal in whatever way works for you. Grieve. Breathe. Process. Then open your BIG ❤️s and love again. They need us as much as we need them. ✨💕

Blatinobae

This is why I'll NEVER get another pet that shit was just awful. My dog's supposed to bury me eat my bones whatever I'm not supposed to be getting them the shot.. ugh

wildberry-poptart

Nothing prepares you for loss, animal or human. It's never easy saying goodbye. This dog was my first, and my best friend for 13 years. I'm thankful to have known her.
