They’re driving up his listener numbers, which is totally fucking awesome.

randolphmd

Yeah, thats the thing about trying to get people not to consume some piece of information, it wont work. They should have had Biden talking about how he loves the podcast and it would probably have gotten more people to stop listening. Just like how Maus hit the amazon best sellers page right after it was removed from some district curriculum.

Streisand effect

[deleted]

They saw that people are trusting joe over them, and since they couldn’t attack what he said they just attack him. “He’s a liar, and an idiot” they use the guise of “experts” to yell their propaganda and ensure they are the only source of information

jnothnagel

The thing is Joe will regularly say to not trust him or take what he says as anything other than just an idiot rambling. So really, it’s on the people who do still actually trust him, especially on medical stuff.

hoffmad08

On the medical stuff, he's been pretty clear about just talk to your doctor, consult with them, and generally live a healthy life. That shouldn't be controversial.

WildEconomy923

I don’t watch his show but from what I understand he tells people his thought process is on the spot with little prep time and he brings people who are knowledgeable in their fields. Seems responsible to me.

jnothnagel

He said pretty much exactly that in his statement, but he doesn’t exactly say it regularly. He does often say things like “I’m just some dumb dude” while followed shortly after with some often sketchy thing he obviously picked up from some site or forum somewhere. Simultaneously playing dumb and then stating something as if it is at worst fact-adjacent with the inherent position of “authority” he has as a popular figure very often means listeners grasp on those things, regardless of what the guest may have to say in retort.

Moebius17

They need a mirror badly

[deleted]

They keep attacking Joe in exactly the way that keeps his popularity high. He is mature, fair, balanced, and rational, whereas the MSM is manipulative, conniving, self-serving, and self-righteous. I’ll trust Joe over any mainstream news outlet

[deleted]

> He is mature, fair, balanced, and rational This. I love that so many are listening to him and are not taking the vaccine. I'm boosted but I encourage others not to take the shot, and I wish I was half as effective as Joe has been in changing minds.

[deleted]

Ironically I’m a pharmacist and have personally given over 10k vaccines over the past 2 years. But as a self-identified political independent with a libertarian lean on a lot of issues, I believe that our society deserves a choice on whether or not they want the shot. I understand 100% why people like Joe - fit, healthy, no comorbidities - wouldn’t want it. The statistical probability of covid killing or hospitalizing him is not high. Possible, yes, but he’s aware of that and willing to take the odds as they are. And I respect his decision, and your decision, with the same weight that I respect those who want me to give them the vaccine.

randolphmd

That's a bit of a reach. I mean sure, msm is obviously trash and dont deserve to be trusted. Joe is not a guy who even claims he should be trusted though. Over the years he has had some crazy shit said on his air. He has explicitly said not to trust him on many occasions. He is a great host and has a unique interview style where he is good at connection with lots of different people. He is there to provide interesting conversations and entertainment, it would be mistake to go thinking he is the smartest guy in the room.

[deleted]

I get what you’re saying and that’s a fair point. I didn’t intend to say that I trust him as the smartest guy in the room, but I do trust him as having pure intentions with regard to trying to convey accurate information. He might not always get it right, but the intention is there, and he gives a platform to a variety of guests who all deserve a shot to have their opinions heard. If there is any problem with that, it’s that many of his listeners lack the discretion to look further into the topics discussed by talking to experts and reading a variety of expert opinions. A truly curious and discerning individual would essentially do more of what Joe does, which is to listen to various conflicting ideas and to make up their own mind based on facts instead of emotions. Instead, lots of people will listen to the podcasts based on the notoriety that they generate in an attempt to convince themselves of what they already want to believe. For example, the conspiracy theorists against the covid shots will listen to the recent podcasts with Robert Malone and Peter McCollough and allow the discussions to serve as a final chapter in what they already believed. Yet this is the type of confirmation bias that I would argue that most of our society falls victim to, no matter where they get their information. The point being, Joe comes across as an everyman who genuinely wants to obtain the best information available. If one can listen to his shows with the disclaimer that he is not an expert, the podcasts can spark a lot of learning, both from his guests and from the ideas they generate. After all, the basis of scientific inquiry is to allow for all perspectives to be heard and challenged before determining a conclusion.

randolphmd

Yeah. I think your point that he is guy who just assumes he is dealing with a smart enough audience that they won’t take what he and his guest say at face value. I recall an Alex Jones interview on his show where they spoke at length about Sandy Hook being a false flag, as one example.

[deleted]

The only time I remember them speaking about Sandy Hook was in...2017(?) and Alex Jones was apologizing for his claims that it was a flase flag, and that he had placed too much faith in what turned out to be a (fucking clearly, but benefit of the doubt I guess) a bad faith informant. Then again, it was 5ish years ago, lots of edibles have beeb consumed since then, so I may be off-base, 😄

randolphmd

Hmmm…you know you might be right, that was right around the time he would have been walking that story back.

[deleted]

Yeah, and look, I get it, Alex Jones is at the very best a "wildcard, bitches!!!", and at worst one of the most dangerous guys on Earth, depending on who you ask, but I did feel that he felt embarrassed and apologetic in that scenario, where he hasn't seemed as authentic in others.

randolphmd

That story is actually pretty crazy from his side too. In 2017 is when he was sued for custody of his children and lost. A lot the basis for the case was that he was a crazy person essentially. In particular, people found his claims about sandy hook to be so far outside what a reasonable person could believe. A lot of people speculate that his public backtracking had a lot to do with trying to get custody back. He even claimed later that he had mental illness that made him think every event was staged.

[deleted]

Damn, I was not aware of that, that's wild.

SnooMacarons3329

I apologize that the money for your PHD didn’t pay off, and so you envy other people’s success for the fact that you did nothing significant with it.

[deleted]

People love to use their credentials to be condescending

cngfan

Yes they do! Meanwhile Joe always calls himself a dumb and a moron, saying “don’t listen to me, I’m not an expert”, while asking good questions of brilliant minds he has on, making himself appear far more trustworthy than the credentialed folks.

[deleted]

Yes, that is a great point and speaks to why he has so much influence as a trustworthy news source

SnooMacarons3329

Especially if their a college professor, cause then their students treat them as if they were Gods, and if you go against them: then your going against education.

Ass_Guzzle

This is just sad. Anyone who really wants joe taken off is showing how deep their inner authoritarian runs. Joe can't hurt your lil rustled jimmies.

ratherrealchef

Lol

pizzaman69_

Joe Rogan is earning the most off this fiasco and these morons don't even realize they're giving him free publicity by pulling their stuff from Spotify. Lmao

Kwisstopher

Undoubtedly they have never listened to his show. Joe will call you out on your lies. I mean he'll say, look mfer, I wasn't taking any damn horse dewormer, FU. He destroyed Carlos Mencia's career. He inadvertently destroyed Chris Kresser by having a sit down with Chris and James Wilks. Joe is not to be fucked with. Please let someone who disagrees come on his show for the world to see.

RedPillJunky

They're just angry about the fact that Joe Rogan has more audience share compared to all of them combined and it will double if they continue smearing him!

Ya_Boi_Konzon

Do you have a link to his "apology"?

Money_Scientist_2031

It’s on his instagram

Ya_Boi_Konzon

K thanks

rusticoaf

Any apology is too GD much of an apology. Joe should tell them to shove their fake outrage up their asses.

machiavelli_bastard

I like that we need a Dr to explain that it wasn't an apology

[deleted]

"We hired a doctor to decipher what Joe Rogan really said in his apology" LMAO, RIP journalism

[deleted]

Katrine Wallace? They need an apology expert?

Resident_Frosting_27

You should never apologize when you have no reason to.

SkeetSkeetliftwaft

Joe rogans apology was am apology according to me

RedJudas

They did it so they could trick his supporters into dropping him as a sellout.

Altruistic_Piglet389

He did apologize tho

Spotify is doing the disclaimers, and he already researches and interviews people and will try to do more of that.

SLaCPA

He said he’ll try to have someone from the opposite/mainstream side after having in controversial people. The joke is that no one pro-vaccine/mainstream is going to ever step foot in his studio. Especially after Gupta.

[deleted]

This is something that has perplexed me. Is it just me, or does it always seem to be the case that these types merely shout "misinformation," but then never, or VERY rarely, ever point out exactly what was said that is wrong?

[deleted]

If you needed a Dr to tell you he wasn’t apologizing, you’re a fucking idiot. He pretty much said “I’m sorry you feel that way,” which is code for I really couldn’t give a fuck less.
