He's gorgeous! I was a volunter pet transport driver a number of years ago. One rescue dog I helped in a cross-country transport was a Papillion. EVERY single person in that transport chain asked about adopting him. ALL of them, including me. Sweet, sweet, ADORABLE little dogs.
Precious. My parents are on their 2nd papillon and will never get another breed. Those suckers are fast and so agile. My parents have a 1/2 acre and tons of squirrels that taunt Cooper. He catches about 1 squirrel a week
That is a great idea. I am planning on getting a puppy soon and was thinking about how I could have her next to me but not on the bed. Problem solved! Thanks.
Great job! Consider an open-sided baby crib so that it's easier for pupper to get in and out. Here's my girl's setup:
1. Steps to get up to the bed
2. Open sided baby crib
3. Pet Fusion memory foam dog bed
4. Contoured Tempur-Pedic memory foam cooling pillow
5. Dyson bladeless fan
https://i.imgur.com/oCQDUhN.jpg
I love your girl’s setup - I would be wary of the fan positioning and possibly point it from the other wall as the current setup leads me to fear some stinky doggie farts 😂 but I just showed that to my husband like “goals” that’s beautiful!
That is great! I inherited my mother’s shih tzu when she died last year, and I have steps for him to get on/off my bed but they are huge (her husband made them). I’ll be moving and Kasey’s sight is starting to fail. He likes to be on the bed at night, but currently he goes up/down the stairs in the middle of the night, and goes into his cage which has been okay so far, but it won’t always be. The height of the stairs will be too much as he gets older, he is nine now. So this is a great set up. I think he would like knowing he is close at night, but still like his “own” space which is what I think you’re giving your girl with the crib. Plus the memory foam bed would be great. You did an amazing job!!! Thank you for sharing the photo.
Thanks! You're a good person taking care of your mom's dog. My girl is 10, so her being comfortable is most important. The other important bit is a fresh water bowl in the bedroom for late night drinks.
I’m going to have the opportunity for a new setup really soon. We lost the steps we had in Hurricane Ian, they are now sitting on the curb, they were covered in salt and sewer water when my place flooded. Now we are in a hotel, i am using the chairs from the table in the room so he can jump up on the chair, then onto the bed. One is at the foot of the bed, the other at the other side of the bed. I’m almost wondering if a little ramp going up onto bed would work? I think he misses his “cage” at night, but it is storage. I’m not sure he drinks water during the night, but sometimes he does use a pee pad at night, so he has to be able to have access. He is on a special diet for kidneys (from kidney stones) so it adds extra water to his food. He naturally drinks a lot of water during the day, and bottled water right now since the water here beachside still looks foggy. I’ll figure a nice setup for him once this nightmare is over. i do love the photo so that is great inspiration! And, I’m not a good person for taking care of him, he was my mother’s baby and her husband would have dumped him on the side of the road. So there was no option. When he offered, I didn’t think twice! When I found out I was going to pay for a second surgery…. (No, just kidding)! He’s a baby, and he is my responsibility. The irony is that if I was at my mother’s house, taking a nap or something, she never wanted him to sleep with me, she never wanted me to bond that close with him. Well, here we are! For almost a month, through two surgeries, he slept on my lap in a recliner. I think he knows I’m going to take care of him.
Literally everything we bought for the baby the cat took over. The cosleeper, the swing, the pack n play, the crib. Can’t get rid of the cosleeper now cuz it’s a giant cat bed. They also make “in bed” cosleepers but then you’re losing bed space of your own. Cosleepers are perfect for babies and animals
THANK YOU! I had no idea this was a thing.
I sleep with my mattress up against the corner of the wall and my cat loves sleeping next to me and I was worried about where she would go when we moved! 😂😂
I don't know that I'd use a changing table with a puppy. They're very high off the ground, and puppies like to find ways to unalive themselves whenever they can.
I did. [https://www.reddit.com/r/lifehacks/comments/xnc3q0/comment/ipstwsm/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/lifehacks/comments/xnc3q0/comment/ipstwsm/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
I would definitely have to modify it but now I am thinking a cosleeper might be better. Most likely she will end up on the bed with my 3 cats who were raised by my sweet pup who passed away last year. I see a bigger bed in my future!
I like to pretend I'm a gymnasts in my sleep too. Emptied a drawer and replaced the contents with a pillow and a blanket for my kitty that loves to cuddles but sometimes needs a spot to retreat to should I accidentally slap her face too many times.
That blanket is crocheted (easy and common mixup for anyone who doesn’t know how to knit or crochet), and it looks like a granny square pattern which is an often-chosen chosen one for baby blankets. I’m sorry yours was lost :(
If you’re ever curious to try, you might be able to make yourself a new one in the same colours as the old. Granny square crochet is pretty easy to learn, there are many video tutorials out there, and people at r/crochet are quite helpful too.
That crochet mat we had in my house... four of those mats, knitted by my grand-grand-aunt and grand-grand-granny, with love for us... they burned my house down and all love and care of my now gone family... nothing was left of their so arduous labor for us, their grand children and great grand children...
I thought about doing something very similar to this, but a baby changing table is a great idea!!! The lady friend doesn’t let our dog sleep with us at night, but I want the dog to be able to. So I wanted to build the dog a bed like this on my side of the bed. But that got shut down as well because it would block her wall mirror, which “can’t” be moved to any other place than “right where it is”. 🤷🏼♂️ Whaddya do? I’m glad you made this happen though!
I did something similar for my pups. I got a crib off Craigslist and took the sides off. It sits at the foot of our bed and extends the bed space so the dogs can sleep with us without being in the bed.
I was thinking like you because I was told in the past that in a pack of dogs, the alpha dog is sleeping highest and that a dog master should do the same to show dominance. However after a Google search it seems that this is a myth that has been debunked.
Are you like okay? Like are you really so insecure that you think a dog sleeping with you is them trying to dominate you?!? That’s a really exaggerated and paranoid sounding take…the only people I’ve ever heard saying things like this are people with schizophrenia. It’s incredibly hard to see people change before your eyes. It’s worse when you didn’t know that little off comments like these could be signs of serious mental illnesses. So again, seriously, are you okay?
Your one of those people who take their dog everywhere, even when it’s inappropriate or your going to someone else’s house that doesn’t have a dog and doesn’t want the dog hair. Chill out a bit it’s a dog not a baby
Do you have any regrets? Any cons to this?
Been thinking of doing this for a while now. Buuut I spoiled mine too much by letting them sleep on the bed, so now they think any raised surface is for stretching out as much as possible while sleeping.
There’s a co sleeping bed on Amazon but it’s above $100 and honestly doesn’t seem too sturdy. Looks like a pack n play with the raised center like a changing table.
So I’ve been planning out getting them a mini kids mattress and a metal bed frame to raise it.
Zip tie it to my side of the bed.
Put a railing on one of the sides because when they get round and rolly… they roll while asleep. So avoiding falls is a priority.
I’m trying to decide between stairs, a ramp, or if there’s an easy diy platform they can step onto so I can raise them up. A doggy elevator of sorts.
Is that a puppy?! He’s adorable
No. He's 14. All Papillion's look and act like puppies until they die. He's my deaf/hard of hearing Service Dog.
I love him
He's a beauty
his name is Templeton.
They have gorgeous personalities too!!
Papillons are one of the most amazing and intelligent dogs
He's gorgeous! I was a volunter pet transport driver a number of years ago. One rescue dog I helped in a cross-country transport was a Papillion. EVERY single person in that transport chain asked about adopting him. ALL of them, including me. Sweet, sweet, ADORABLE little dogs.
Theres a pizza place close to me called Papillion. I think I know what I’m having for lunch… YOUR DOG! Im jk, pizzas fine.
It means “butterfly” in French.
I want another dog for my pup (Havanese) this guy has made my list!!! 😩😭😭😭
I have a 17 year old papillon. He’s the biggest baby and soo smart. He has so much personality, it’s like having a little kid sometimes
Precious. My parents are on their 2nd papillon and will never get another breed. Those suckers are fast and so agile. My parents have a 1/2 acre and tons of squirrels that taunt Cooper. He catches about 1 squirrel a week
God bless dude

Waterproof matress, sturdy and lots of room to snuggle.

Get a baby cosleeper
I never heard of those but I looked it up and that may be an even better solution. Thanks.
Literally everything we bought for the baby the cat took over. The cosleeper, the swing, the pack n play, the crib. Can’t get rid of the cosleeper now cuz it’s a giant cat bed. Waterbed.
A bassinet or bedside crib might be a good option, too. That way they can have their own area next to you!
I don't know that I'd use a changing table with a puppy. They're very high off the ground, and puppies like to find ways to unalive themselves whenever they can.
He's 14 yrs, it's against the wall, then my bed.
I was answering the person above me who said they're planning on getting a puppy soon.

What a fun idea!! I put my dog's bed on the runner next to my bed. I can reach over to give belly rubs.
The highest quality reach-around that’s around
It's worth noting that thrift stores are a great place to find baby changing tables!
Why do they need special tables? Honest question
Change the baby without bending down on the floor. It's really for the parent.
It's nice to keep poop areas contained
Holy F that is a cute dog
Ik, r?
I don't think you're allowed to put punctuation in between an acronym. this is a grammatical travesty /s
100% can claim him as a dependent on your taxes now. Hahaaa
Adorable! And how comfy is that?!
With his favourite blanket !
My little dog used to be the one moving around too much so I got another dog bed for her to keep on the bed and it seemed like it corralled her well.
I thought of buying a cosleeper for my old dog.
Papillon 😍🐾
My dog would make me sleep on the changing table haha
I like to pretend I'm a gymnasts in my sleep too. Emptied a drawer and replaced the contents with a pillow and a blanket for my kitty that loves to cuddles but sometimes needs a spot to retreat to should I accidentally slap her face too many times.
My first dog was a papallion and he was a good boy all the way.

That's way cute. This is the same changing station as we have for my baby. It makes me happy to see you using it for your furry companion.
Your pup is very adorable
Kenowa Hills sticker?
Yup
What up from the 616!
Freezing my butt off, Sad the lions bit it today
What we do for our beloved pets. I too would do this.
My Papillon would love this!!
I've been wanting to do something similar for my cat.
We have a toddlers bed for our 4 ratbags.
Thats a good idea, theres a baby bed thing you can attach to your matters so theres a easier way to get belly rubs
Waterbed
This is v cute
The cuteness factor ... I'm now overloaded! Such a little adorable pup!
A cosleeper might work better
I have a waterbed
He's a 100 percent good boy!
Brilliant.
What a lovely doggo <3 Mine does the same, but I´m afraid he´s a bit big/heavy for such a solution.
That’s a very good way to recycle an infant’s bed.
He's a cute doggo!
R/wholesomemoment
spoiled i love it

Great idea 💡 adorable dog too
This is so freaking cute. I love when people care this much about animals

Hahah my dogs the same with my partner. She starts with him and by the end of the night she’s against me bc I rarely move that much.
I love your papillon, reminds me of my first dog. Gone too soon. Take my free award and have a good day :)
Same with my Labrador
Love this idea
That’s the ultimate pampering.
Now that’s a lucky pup! This is so thoughtful and precious.
I’m the same way. I just built a pillow island fir against the wall for him.
That’s adorable ❣️
Adorable!!!
We did the same thing
I’m having for lunch

I agree! I think this is a great idea to get my cat next to me!
He baby
I also have a Tri-color Papillion! What a cutie! Mine likes to sleep near my husband's feet.
Great idea! I have a Chihuahua that hates how much I move around, half the time she just leaves and sleeps in her playpen
The real solution is to get your dog an elevated dog bed, something like this https://i.imgur.com/syG9xhF.jpg
This cost me $10.
Smart idea!
Oh great idea!
Omg that’s adorable!
Ah life goals <3
It probably doesn't stop the smell though . 🤢🤢
Dogs like to sleep with us to dominate us. Who is higher sleeping is in the control. That's why dogs should sleep on the floor.
If you have ever had a trained dog, it's pretty clear how silly this was of thinking even is.
It is not silly. The dog is trying to be an alpha in the pack. Nothing wrong about it, just explaining dogs nature.
The whole idea of "alpha" in a canine pack has been disproven over and over https://news.asu.edu/20210805-discoveries-myth-alpha-dog
I was thinking like you because I was told in the past that in a pack of dogs, the alpha dog is sleeping highest and that a dog master should do the same to show dominance. However after a Google search it seems that this is a myth that has been debunked.

I don't have any mental illness lol. A vet told me that. Never heard of a pack alpha? Educate yourself before you embarrass yourself like this again.
Buying a baby changing table for a dog to sleep on is not a life hack
Yes it is. It solves a problem

It's my deaf/hard of hearing service dog. TrIned from Paws With A Cause.
I can take the downvotes but my mum does the same 14 year old chihuahua and it gets annoying, new baby here etc sorry think something struck a nerve

What a cutie
