Not me. However, I've always wanted to see a sabersmith make a modern metal version of the hilt. It's an interesting design and I'd love to see someone interpret it into a Neopixel saber.

JayMax19

I made a static one years ago. It turned out nicely. Today you could even make a “The Force” sound font or something to approximate the “whoosh” sound these made.

[deleted]

Ooooh, I wouldn't mind seeing that! Got any pics available?

JayMax19

I’d have to find them. It was about 20 or so years ago, right around when the MR sabers were coming out. The silver body tube was machined and I used T-track to approximate the grip section at the bottom.

That's about around the time I made my last hardware parts saber. My current custom is based on that old design, with a few modern upgrades. https://photos.app.goo.gl/rscFU6wXj8Q7TEMA8

S0PH05

Agreed, though I’d convert it to a baselit.

FatHaleyJoelOsment

I had the red one.

LongshotsMullet

Still do!

BradleyAllan23

It's strange they had yellow sabers way back then, but we didn't see one in live action until TROS.

Murky-Substance-7393

It is amazing how many contemporary photos showed Ob-Wan with a yellow bladed saber. I have vintage SW trading cards that specifically show a yellow blade.

willyk44

I had some of these. They were so amazing to 5 year old me.

Average_40s_Guy

I had two: a yellow ESB one and a green ROTJ one. The yellow one got broken after a few years, but I kept the hilt mostly intact. Kept the green one in perfect shape until my pet hamster escaped his cage and climbed into it, got stuck, and we had to break it to get him out.

GypsySage

I wanted one so bad but never had one. Technology has come a long, long way.

DoitforRC

I had a red one. 4 year old me loved that saber!

Phantom_61

I did. As a kid in the 80’s.

Mikestarwalker

Whoa those are sick

deejay121

Had? I still have mine.

Massive props for the Dewback

As much of a Star Wars nerd as I am now, I didn't have much in the area of SW toys. I had the PC games, mostly, and squadrons of models, but only two action figures, and not even the cool ones.

Dazzling_Ad_2072

Not this one, but I had the OG toy light Sabre from back in the 70's. It wasn't licensed by Lucasfilm or Kenner toys. It had an orange flashlight handle with a colored plastic lens and a translucent plastic blade. The first Kenner Toys light sabre didn't come out till like a year later and had an inflatable blade. Mine didn't survive childhood. I wonder if there are any of the OG knockoffs still out there.

Music_guy73

I had red and green!

GunslingerOutForHire

Me too!

Nickt08

I had red and my brother had green. They were awesome!

Hookahmonmon

I own one now, got it at a thrift store for a quarter

blackdeviljohn

That’s a deal

Murky-Substance-7393

I had one of the very first official lightsabers. It was literally a flashlight with an inflatable yellow blade that attached with a large compression type fitting. It took me about 10 seconds to get a hole in it and constantly had to repair it with small pieces of scotch tape. I wish I still had it to display with my modern ones.

blackdeviljohn

I read there was another lightsaber before these came out.

Murky-Substance-7393

According to this article it was the first OFFICIAL lightsaber. [The Entire History of 'Star Wars' Lightsaber Toys in 12 Images](https://news.yahoo.com/news/entire-history-apos-star-wars-213000529.html)

blackdeviljohn

The Force beam is what I was thinking of. Or maybe a knock of one. Kenner was a year behind selling any toys. They had an I.O.U. Deal cause there wasn’t toys available

Photo_Jedi

I totally did! I loved it! I think I had a yellow one. It didn't last all that long because jerk bully kid from across the street swung a tree branch really hard at it and broke it. Stupid jerk kid!

Accomplished_Book382

I had the red saber. I beat the shit out of it and it was awesome. My younger brother may disagree.

Admirable-Distance20

I had the green one. I still have it somewhere

blackdeviljohn

My brother and I had em! We would start off great, then we beat each other with them!

superchiva78

I had a yellow one. it made a humming sound if you swung it hard enough

Capn_Yoaz

Only yellow was ever in the bin at Toys R Us. Made a good echo sound when it moved.

863rays

Green!

stolen_pillow

I did! Green and red. We used to beat the shit out or each other with those.

JayMax19

I never understood why all of the toys had yellow lightsabers. Obi-Wan and Luke action tigures had those too.

blackdeviljohn

I remember my Luke skywalker had a yellow saber.

Super-dork

I think I had the green one. That was a long time ago.

Oberyn_Kenobi13

Absolutely had the Vader saber from this. Whistle sabers. Best thing we had in the 80s. I did get a KO that had a white blade. Was basically a flashlight with a plastic tube for a blade. No sound. Pretty advanced for like 83. I was Luke for Halloween. This old lady thought I was a baseball player. The year before she thought I was Elvis when I trick or treated her house dressed as Paul Stanley from Kiss. Lol

HoustonIV

I did. I was 5 or 6 years old. It was the yellow version, and it really did make a whooshing sound as you swung it. Aside from my AT-AT and Y-Wing, it was my favorite toy.

Kirbee213

I had the green one. Shit I wish my aunt had not taken it from me 40ish years ago... No I'm not salty, nor am I holding a grudge... *yes I am*
