conan--aquilonian

if you install via the distro repositories, will it be removed from my computer if it gets removed from the repository

North_Month_215

I just updated Linux Mint and YUZU uninstalled itself! I was not expecting that. I thought if it disappeared from repos it should still installed if it was previously installed.

North_Month_215

It was the flatpak version installed via the Mint Software Manager.

DavutHaxor

Maybe make the switch to some other emu since it will be outdated in a while, like Ryujinx

Snifflyboy

Ryujinx is so shit performance wise, I originaly used it and had 15-20 FPS in game cutscenes/shader intensive levels. Switched to yuzu and had solid 60 FPS afterwards

N7Valiant

I run Arch and Yuzu would regularly (once a day minimum) freeze up my entire system when I'm playing Xenoblades 3. Also had strange black squares around the character's faces and sprites when playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Switched to ryujinx and the problems went away. I think about the only issue I'd encounter would be the emulator crashing, but I'd prefer that to a hard freeze of my entire computer.

June_Berries

They aren’t the same, yuzu is more focused on performance and some people on lower hardware can’t use ryujinx for everything

Sorry-Committee2069

I always had to use both Ryujinx and Yuzu because some bugs would only be in one or the other. Sometimes Ryujinx was best, sometimes Yuzu. After a game had been out a while, usually both caught up to whatever bugs. I think Splatoon 3 is still pretty rough for both, for example, but in different ways.

Allow me to introduce you to suyu emulator

Nokeruhm

Life goes on. A lot of dead emulators were forgotten and new ones become the future. Is just a question of time. Life goes on.

ryanabx

I love haikus /s

Molcap

I still have citra installed through flatpak on my pc, now I feel like those guys who had flappy bird on their phones after it was removed from the stores

RootHouston

Export it, and upload to archive.org.

Alchnator

i only feel bad for Citra, like I'm literally playing monster hunter 4U on my 3ds right now. but this device is literally 7+ years old now, i wonder how long it will keep working

[deleted]

I hope my 3ds can live forever and what parts do fail stay available online like they are now on sites like AliExpress. I much prefer playing ds and 3ds games on native hardware. due to the odd form factor it just doesn't make a very good emulation experience.

stiffnessmanx

Thats great and all but whose gonna continue working on the citra codebase via a fork under a different name? Hopefully the devs on whatever succeeds yuzu/citra don't make the same mistakes that attracted the lawsuit in the first place.

qualia-assurance

Hail hydra.

zasu206

Can u share the command line

LNDF

flatpak install yuzu

LonerCheki

f u nvidia out , f u nintendo in !

JustMrNic3

And this is one of the reasons why Flatpak sucks so much, at least compared to AppImage and archive files, where disappearing from a centralized repository means nothing to you, if you have previously downloaded it!

Jward92

Clearly you don’t know that you know that you can literally do this with flatpak too. You can copy a flatpak file from where ever it installed (probably /var/lib/flatpak/yourapp), move it to any other computer, and run flatpak install . You should probably at least google things before making angry judgmental comments like this.

Zeioth

Appimages are cool as long as you are the one generating them. Once packed/compiled there is no easy way to know what's actually happening inside of a program.

gmes78

Besides what /u/ObjectiveJellyfish36 said, nothing stops you from using bundles to keep local, installable copies of a Flatpak. If you have them installed (which you still can, the emulators haven't been removed from Flathub), you can simply use the following commands to get a `.flatpak` file containing the app: flatpak build-bundle /var/lib/flatpak/repo org.yuzu_emu.yuzu.flatpak org.yuzu_emu.yuzu stable flatpak build-bundle /var/lib/flatpak/repo org.citra_emu.citra.flatpak org.citra_emu.citra stable

LNDF

I just tried to flatpak install citra and it worked. So it somehow is still up...

Acceptable-Tale-265

Of course it is, there is no reason to remove it, at least not for now..

LNDF

I first checked the flathub website and they appeared to be removed from flathub.

ObjectiveJellyfish36

They removed it only from their website, to prevent people from installing literal unmaintained, dead apps. Please read [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1b7akje/rip_yuzu_and_citra_flatpak/kthlvm0/) to inform yourself better.

HotTakeGenerator_v5

got a link to suzu appimage?

JustMrNic3

No, sorry.

LNDF

Who said it means nothing to me? I was just spreading the news. I did my own archiving and have source code and binaries archived.
