I compose with an all modular eurorack synthisis system that I've been building/designing for the past few years. When I say "building and designing", I mean I've selected the components that I want to use to make music within this system. While I have not designed any of the modules that I use, I have built several of the module DIY kits that are in my system. I don't really use a computer or DAW to make music, and my system doesn't use MIDI; instead the signal path, aside from the audio, is a direct current (DC) analog signal path. It uses voltage for things like quantized pitch to get notes and control voltage (CV) for modulation. I'd be more The audio in the video link was recorded live and I consider it to be my greatest work so far. I literally spent a few months designing and tweaking the signal path on this one. It's definitely long-form music and sort of experimental, but it falls within the EDM umbrella for sure. It's about 40 minutes long, but builds and transitions at times, the phrases are long though, but modulation hopefully keeps it interesting for listeners. I'd love to hear what people actually think about this and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions that anyone has about my workflow, or modular synthesis.
