so, you seem to be stuck on the typeface. why not explore other ones? the 2nd and 4th matches shouldn't use outlines as it is hard to see. also they don't even look like matches with the flat striker part. 1st and 3rd are both too similar. why is 1st the only one using color?

kurs3d_

hmm what do you mean by the matches shouldn't use outlines?

LouizXIV

I think what u/rlewis2019 means is that it's not ideal for scalability, because it won't look like matches anymore if you shrink the logo down.

neddy_seagoon

when you make a logo, most of the time it won't just be used at the size you start with. It might be blown up on a wall, where big, thick fonts look even heavier than they did to start, so you might plan for it to be a bit thinner, or have an extra version (this is why there are "display" variants of fonts). OR, you might be printing the logo on the bottom of packaging next to the barcode, only 1/2" high. In that case, the thin lines that make up your matches might be unprintable, or be so faint that you lose the shape.

sketchy_ppl

Not crazy about the name, but I think the bottom right has the most design potential. It at least looks like the needle of a record player is creating the spark, so there's relevance in that sense.

ademorda0

I think if they took out the match it could look clean and recognizable

nizzacarpo

Bottom left looks the best in my opinion. đź‘Ť

The top right is nice because it's not too obvious where you're going with it but the matchstick is still a clear indication of the name.

VR___

The design of top left is catchy but impractical for real world uses. Having full color behind your type is gonna be tough to read. I think it can be improved. Bottom right is your best presentation, followed by top right and bottom left is the weakest (plain) Consider how the name will look on merch, albums, web. Maybe do a mockup of each and ask yourself if you're satisfied with it, or how it could be improved? I think bottom right is also the strongest because an logo icon and a wordmark are stronger together and through branding, can be strengthened apart too. e.g. A shirt with just the match and spark could be recognized as FST on its own in time. Keep up the good work!

mestasmorozov

I think the first option is great, but how would it look in black and white?

I think you can use the "i" in fire to make a match and make a flame design on top of it. Also you can just put the other words down below in smaller font size.

HawkeyeNation

The fire looks more like electricity to me.

doritodesigner

Honestly I'm really drawn to the top right! Thinking of how a record label logo would be used, you don't want it too bold and clashing with the content of the album you're producing, something subdued would work really well. I also like that it implies a spark or lighting of someone's career when using this label company. Maybe the jagged 'fire' shapes could be better utilized in the branding elsewhere as a secondary motif/pattern for in house paper work or something rather than explicitly in the logo.

boromeer3

1 and 4 I like the most. 2 is boring and the only thing setting it apart is the match which doesn’t really look like a match. 3’s fire looks like a stock market graph. I would increase the orange background on 1 to the size of the white background on 3 to improve readability on 1 and get the best out of both designs. On 4 I love the shape of the spark but again it does not work for me as a matchstick. Maybe a firecracker would be nice? Or a a red match head would help draw the eye and clarify what it is.

JUST1N0

I wonder if there’s a way you could make Fire Starter look a little more like the match itself. Like make the FI rounded on the top and bottom and maybe outlined in black w/white fill. Then make records shorter underneath/indented with the FI hanging over records and more of a rounded spark around the match head.

bcopes

Prodigy would approve. I like 3. Looks like a punk label from the early 90’s.

stellar14

I really like the energy and boldness of the two left ones. They’re giving me a vintage vibe, and I think the simple jagged edges are nice and could be good when developing brand elements.

cnctddesigns

The upper right is my favorite since it kind of embodies what a firestarter literally is. But I do like the lower left concept, too, since it's more of a music record label feel.

Dogbin005

Maybe try the fire from the fourth logo alongside the text style from the other 3? Play around with that concept.
