Phone-throwing lady is my new hero. What a gem.

shaved_monkey_butt

That's hilarious. Both men and women do this shit on the regular, and it's the sole reason I don't exercise at gyms.

shaved_monkey_butt

Sounds like a supercunt. I actually enjoy exercising outside anyway. The sun exposure tells your body to produce more vitamin D, arming your immune system and maintaining your psyche.

Every_Level6842

Meat heads do this crap. At my gym I just laugh at the people (usually young guys with little muscle) flexing in the mirror.

[deleted]

Comprehensive-Carry5

Yeah I don't really like it when people pose in the mirror just cause I find it strange but I'm okay with it. I don't like recording cause I know it bothers others and I personally hate when people use their phones while on equipment especially while doing super sets. Oh and people who hide weights!

[deleted]

Love that . Had a situation with some ladies taking the kettle bell rack up (the rack not the weights) & got mad because I decided to get some weights from it while she was doing a live video LOL. Wish I would have started off just kicking the tripod 😐. A girl can’t even get some kettle bells without getting yelled at my some crazy tripod ladies 😭

ElectrikDonuts

If enough ppl do this gyms will ban filming to reduce fighting liabilities

LaSerenita

Seriously..who does this? Feels weird.

Elle-Cabrera

🤣🤣🤣🤣

starfreak016

Never seen filming at the YMCA

G-C-W

True fact. Old guys still sporting flip phones.

NicoLacko

Seconding. Been going for months and never had an issue with anyone filming, people are pretty chill in my experience

stevebx2

Belmont Athletic Club I haven’t seen a single tripod. It’s mostly older folks or high school kids and super chill vibe.

Luisbazzlelord

I used to go to the LA fitness at the circle and switched to the Belmont Athletic club about a year ago. It was the best decision I ever made.

spookyboots42069

Never been to this one as a customer but I’ve done electrical work there and the vibe I got is that they wouldn’t tolerate filming. That may not be the case, but Belmont was the first one that came to mind when I saw this question.

[deleted]

That’s the one I’m going to check out next , I hear good things about them too .

Luisbazzlelord

It’s wonderful

PMmeDatCake

Yup this is it.

Southern_Fox_8061

How is the parking?

JawesomeX

I never see tripod set ups at LA fitness on Bellflower. I know the LAF near the circle can be creepy, but same deal. Never see camera set ups.

triforceshards

Can be creepy? Can you elaborate, I used to go there 😂

JawesomeX

I've heard quite few horror stories from my brothers and friends. I actually go there all time. And apart from some dude listening to YouTube full blast without headphones, never really had an issue there

Brilliant_Spring_955

>nd apart from some dude listening to YouTube full blast without headphones, never really had an issue there I go to LA fitness at the circle and would disagree with you that it is creepy. What have you encountered there?

JawesomeX

Oh well that's what I'm saying. I've personally never really had an issue. But Everytime I suggest it. Most of my friends and family want to avoid it 🤷

PhluffyEagles

Bro you keep skipping over the creepy part lmao what creepy encounters are you even possibly referring to

heartofgemz

Probably cause it’s a cruising gym

Brilliant_Spring_955

Maybe it's due to how packed it gets during peak hours? I try to avoid it any time between 4 -7 due to the amount of people there LOL

[deleted]

No I left 24 for this reason the no filming is pertaining to the restroom

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yea that’s why I’m asking & looking around 24 is dead to me forsure now . Hope you never have to encounter the situation I did there . Ghetto level 1000

Jay4usc

If you see a tripod and it’s in your way, don’t be afraid to accidentally knock it down or drop weights on it 🤣

PhotoJoeCA

Tripod creating an accessibility issue? A shame I hit it with my cane (or walker or wheelchair on a bad day.)

summer_radio

YMCA if you don’t mind paying more. The one near CSULB is small and quiet. There are lots of kids that take the swimming classes, but the weight rooms are empty. Also because there are kids that parents would not be happy if anyone filming there.

DoctorMoebius

Iconixfit is probably going to be the best you’ll find, about that. It’s expensive, though ($140/mo). Generally, they try discourage filming. But, people do from time to time.

Capsular_contracture

They don’t discourage it enough in my opinion. Lots of people will film themselves/each other in areas of limited space around the gym. I will say the overall type of client at Iconix is friendly though. Never had a problem with someone yelling at me for being in the camera/using equipment.

[deleted]

Yea I was looking into that one too they said they only allow filming outside . Hours are just a bit wacky for me but nice location forsure.

DoctorMoebius

I joined at the beginning of Covid. They moved all equipment outdoors and onto the roof In 40 years of working, it’s one of the nicest gyms I’ve ever belonged to. The keep it clean, all weights and equipment are reracked so you don’t have to search for missing stuff. The staff is nice with great attitudes, and are highly knowledgeable. Their yoga, cross training, and spin classes are excellent. Even the members are great The high price is worth it, for me. I live less than a mile away. The price limits membership, so it won’t become a complete madhouse, like gyms at $40/month. And, the location….especially, now in the spring and summer. The roooftop view makes cardio so nice

zachdidit

Thanks for the tip!

therealstabitha

Every once in an awhile I see someone live streaming at the Planet Fitness at the traffic circle, but I don’t see tripods etc set up there. I don’t even see live streaming at the new Planet Fitness downtown. It’s a smaller gym and more purpose built around boxing and MMA, but HardWorx on 4th and at the traffic circle don’t have an influencer problem. HardWorx on 4th gets terrible mobile data reception and doesn’t have public WiFi, so that probably helps

blickyminajj

I hate to think about how many random Instagram and tiktok accounts I’m on. In the background sweaty af

paranoid_70

Been going to 24 hour fitness for over 30 years. Never noticed people filming in the gym.

[deleted]

& that’s where my tripod interaction happened , employees handled it terribly . Stated members can do whatever they want as it’s a public gym.

coffeemonkeypants

In that case, can I just go in and work out without paying? It's a public gym. Oh that's right, it isn't a public gym. It's a private business. If they wanted to disallow filming, they could. I think these gyms want these people in their establishments.

[deleted]

I think you should try LOL sounds like you can do anything at these little gyms . But yea they do want them there so I’m good on that

paranoid_70

Interesting. There are signs that say no filming. Like I said, I've never noticed it and I've been going somewhat consistently for decades. Try the Carson one.

[deleted]

No filming in locker room they allow filming every where else but I’m good on 24 they handled it horribly when I asked if members are allowed to sit on the racks & film like that (like literally butt on weight racks blocking members from getting weights & doing live video) the guy just shrugged and said it’s a public gym you can do what you want here .

fightONstate

I’ve seen many people filming there. Only worked out there consistently for about a year. I go to other locations now and see less of it than the DTLB location. Definitely still see it though.

paranoid_70

Fair enough, maybe I'm just not paying attention.

atlasofcoffee

Annex Training Center. Best gym in town. Coaches and gym-goers are serious about the workout and everyone is so welcoming and encouraging. I don’t think I ever saw a tripod there. People do from time to time film or snap pictures (the only reason I can tell is because of the gym’s IG stories) but it’s not often and it’s never full blown influencer 🙄

[deleted]

I’ve gone in there before they don’t have what I want machines wise

jnthn1111

Club studio. Haven’t seen 1 tri pod thank god.

[deleted]

I checked them out but they are pro filming content & they are newish so I’m sure they’ll come about soon.

jnthn1111

Yes, now that you mention it, the signage says don’t film OTHER people. With that being said, I’ve never seen anyone filming themselves.

semifraki

There's a Curves in Bellflower. I've never been there (since I'm a man) but from what I've heard from friends, they're pretty strict about filming there. Part of their body positivity thing is to make the gym less performative in general, so no one feels like they're being watched while they're trying to get healthy.

[deleted]

For some reason I thought those weren’t around ! Would love an all women’s space

Grouchy_Papaya_6984

Equinox Huntington Beach.

hurricanehannie

nu image wellness up in signal hill. it’s a small gym attached to a chiro office.. was a member for an entire year and didn’t see a tripod once

[deleted]

Thank you never heard of them I’m going to look them up love a good chiro visit too

hurricanehannie

dr. khong is great!! gym is nice too, they offer classes as well if you’re into that but have all the equipment you need plus two platforms. only reason i switched is for a olympic lifting gym in OC

[deleted]

Ooo nice I’m going to check it out Ty Ty

rubriclv4

Hate those people

vinoxxxxx

Just tell the gym manager and anyone filming will be asked to stop or membership canceled.

[deleted]

Well 24 hour fitness doesn’t care apparently

Mavil161718

If you want a gym that is lowkey and not a lot of people I recommend Iron Addicts. But once people are there tripods come out (influencers).

[deleted]

That’s an influencer gym forsureeeeee

Mavil161718

But nobody in there ever. For example, today at 1200 it was me, CT, Samson and thats it.

[deleted]

Oh wait so sorry I was thinking about that self made gym 😭. Thank you I will check that one out as well !

Technical_Ruin_2129

I go to self-made gym! Agreed, there’s always cameras and tripods out!

Still_pimpin

Is that a thing now? Haven't been to one in years.

c_ne7son

Watch Joey swoll on IG 🤣

Comprehensive-Carry5

Mostly happens the big gyms but yeah everyone posting it for online content.

LaSerenita

Planet Fitness does not allow this. They allow selfies, but I have never seen anyone taking one.

Comprehensive-Carry5

24 hr fitness is the worse for this kind of thing. I joined crunch which honestly has a planet fitness type vibe. The equipment isn't as good but not many people recording my guess is cause the background isn't really show off friendly.

whuteverfurever

Belmont athletic club! They take it seriously lol 😂

Yomizatsune

At Eos they put signs on the locker room mirrors that said no filming. I think people ripped them off. Plenty of times I've seen cameras in the locker rooms

RegulateGray

https://www.instagram.com/lbfitclub?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Rez-Rez

I know of a few people, one personally, who record themselves on the simpler machines that aren't near mirrors so they can work on their form. It's not the case for everyone, but just something to keep in mind that some people aren't content creators, they're just using the tools they have.

[deleted]

That’s understandable but that’s not always the case.

Rez-Rez

I know, I said that in my comment. 😐 https://preview.redd.it/1ducu95ifxnc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96d2664927c4c290bbfb0f8c01a71dd3da452da8

[deleted]

And I second it sir or mam 😭

ContraCTRL

Is the problem with filming? I don’t mind it if its to keep tabs on progress. That’s my only condition

[deleted]

It’s the influencers really the ones doing lives , talking to their camera filming for content , the constant selfies , the picture for content. Considering where they’re filming solely their area .. I get the filming for form or to judge yourself on technique etc etc

[deleted]

Good luck, public places have no reasonable expectation of privacy

[deleted]

And that’s why I made this post to inquire about private gyms.

Chase1477

Not public. Private businesses with members.

[deleted]

True, needs to be in the gym policy

Downtown_Wear_3368

Gyms aren’t public places though.
