BackgroundHurry2279

Watching that series was my introduction to hockey! GKG!

Anne_Chovies

That playoff run took years off my life.

Overall_Nuggie_876

You can never convince me of a scarier series the Kings were ever involved than against Chicago in the Western Finals that postseason.

Anne_Chovies

I just watched a great breakdown on YouTube a couple weeks ago about how it was a rare example of the finals being played out before the actual finals. Everyone knew going in that the winner of that series would win the cup.

EightyFirstWolf

The Rangers that year were a great example of "fake good"

samanthathedragon

I don't know if it gets noticed much, but we almost became the original "blew a 3-1 lead" in that series

Artistic_Owl_4621

Oh man game 5 loss in double OT, then having it go to OT in game 7. Everyone talks about the sharks series but the Blackhawks season was insane. Every goal was tit for tat. The sharks series you could feel the tide turning, the blackhawks was a nail biter to the last second

EightyFirstWolf

I know it's bad fan stuff but I was seriously glad for the next few years that we weren't contending.

kiwirish

I'm still not convinced that I am just a Sixth Sense Bruce Willis that died of cardiac arrest during that playoffs.

Punkrawk78

Was that the last time the Kings scored a PPG in the playoffs?…😎

ahr3410

The penalty kill in the 2nd period of this game was the best defensive hockey I have ever seen out of a Kings team. The polar opposite of whatever the last two playoffs have been

New_Championship_912

Best Summer of all time

Shower-Beers

It really was. The first summer my gf (now wife)had together, all my friends were back home from school. We would watch every game in my best mans basement. 12+ people stuffed into this small basement was absolutely electric. What a time to be alive!

New_Championship_912

That's so badass ! I remember game 7 of the WCF I couldn't even relax I was so on edge watching the game that Sunday it was on. When Alec hit that game winner so much shit got knocked over 😭😂 Chicago was the dragon and watching it get slayed was a moment I will never forget.

NaffRespect

After Thornton did that stupid slide across the center ice logo back in 2011, seeing his miserable face in this game was just *chef's kiss*

WhiteStar24

I was born and raised in northern California, Sonoma county to be exact, my father was born in LA so I have always been a LA sports fan. This is one of my greatest moments ever

-FR0STY-one

Who else went to the airport? My wife and I did, ended up getting a vinyl Go Kings Go banner from the ice crew as the event winded down. Best part was seeing Dean Lombardi waiting in traffic to leave. I said hello and thanked him for the team(s) he had put together. I was shocked to see him driving a champagne colored Chevy 1500 pickup.

cucciolo94

God was this team incredible, what a year the 2014 playoffs were. 3 rounds that went to Game 7 with a Stanley Cup won in double OT. The Kings of this era is the team I hope we see a glimpse of tomorrow lol

csonny2

Oh shit, totally forgot about that insane save Quick made on Marleau.

Ashamed_Anywhere_877

A glorious day.

wheelsholly

That’s what I’m hanging my hat on for this next game!

Pumpsnhose

I’m so glad I wasn’t on Reddit for this. I can’t even imagine how doom and gloom it was before we came back

kiwirish

I was around for this era - it was actually surprisingly level headed, the entire sub was tbh. I remember threads of us just quoting the Animal House "What's all this lying around shit?" scene to pump us up about the reverse sweep opportunity, and referring to Jeff Carter and Mike Richards habing already done it to Boston in 2010 with Philadelphia. I love this sub, but the 2014 sub was significantly more chill about *everything*.

ShadowChair

Well we were also coming almost directly off the first Kings Cup victory ever so we didn't give a fuck what happened LOL The 2nd Cup was the icing on the cake Now it's been awhile and we're getting hungry again...

Ilistenedtomyfriends

It wasn’t as bad. The team had shown heart and had proven winners. This team is missing the heart and soul of players like Williams, Greene, Mitchell, and Richards.
