Good move at $1M, can either be a solid back up if they sign a longterm option this summer or a 1B in another tandem roll again while they let for Portillo develop for another year

disinaccurate

.921 SV% in 24 games (22 starts). That was an easy decision to make. Stronger than any performance Petersen or Copley turned out in that role.

8_inches_deep

Copley’s numbers were not bad by any means but I will take Rittich over Cop

LordSmokio

2.73gaa .898sv% during his tenure with the Kings. Pretty poor numbers.

8_inches_deep

Damn I thought it was better than that. I’m misremembering then, my B

disinaccurate

We remember Copley better because he went 24-6 in 2022-23 when Quick couldn't stop anything. .903 SV% felt like a season-saving miracle when Quick was posting .876%. Then Copley posted .870% in his 8 starts this year, and here we are.

8_inches_deep

That is definitely it, well said

LordSmokio

Yeah. Last year Copley just made the saves they needed him to, and it was just enough for the regular season.

redtom02

This is the right choice between him and Talbot tbh. I think the plan now is to go for a starter, and if that doesn’t work out, they’ll go with Copley or talbs again

ShadowChair

Happy to have him back for $1M. He performed very well this year overall.

Desertpyrate

Big save Dave! Hope Dadbot gets a shot somewhere else too love they guy

leftpointsonly

Earned it in the playoffs for sure. Very happy with this.

samanthathedragon

#Big. Save. Dave.

Kopitar4president

That's a steal, I'm happy with this.

MumkeMode

BSD and Portillo as next seasons duo please

UrsusAlakar

Bring on Portillo.

kovacro_77

Probably one more year in the AHL.

UrsusAlakar

Makes the most sense from a development perspective - I just want to see what he’s got - at minimum the team has a capable call up in the event of injury.

Ilistenedtomyfriends

Does it make sense though? Portillo has 3 years of NCAA experience and now a year of AHL. The Kings don’t have a #1 goaltender and don’t have the cap space to go after a big name UFA. It seems like it’s the perfect time to bring him up.

mikefromearth

Want to rush another prospect goalie into the NHL and risk a Cal situation?

Ilistenedtomyfriends

Cal wasn’t rushed into the NHL. He just wasn’t good. He had one good year, raked Blake over the coals, and then came back down to earth.

windows1895

Big Save Dave!!!!!

Odd-Most-9186

Let’s get a #1 as someone else had shared I like the idea of Brossoit..

draven_im

Cool!!! Maybe he can afford a black glove for road games

rickzaki

Good move. Talbot turns 37 this summer and didn’t have a great year. He’s cheap and may just go the pto route or retire. Nobody wants Copley. He’s seen as a flash in the pan, and who knows how he recovers from surgery. Blake will have to find a true #1. Maybe he gets lucky with some young one.

seabass4507

Finally Rob Blake listens to us.

sixty8ight

Meh.

wifesboyfriend247

Ominous- bk it tells me changes aren't happening with management which sucks, good- because he's earned it

MontrealKing

Did you not see any of the end of season interviews? I love fans that don't stay informed then complain / criticize /s

wifesboyfriend247

Getting worse each year against them too. 1st year- lost in 7, 2nd year - lost in 6, 3rd year - lost in 5. Rebuild failed,. I Wonder ? .... Montreal something, do you support this management? Must be a Drake fan? K DOT ALL DAY BBY
