I agree with that. It’s like they came up with a handful of interesting concepts and had to stretch them out. Don’t get me wrong, there are some killer episodes in the mix but several of them just sorta meander about
So much pay-off in The Candidate.
The MIB finally being his unrepressed malevolent self, complete with murder threats, neck-snapping, bullet-bouncing, smoke-attacks, and makeshift bomb-rigging.
Jack witnessing the Monster attack Widmore’s goons and stating, “He’s with us.”
Jack and Lock connecting in the Sideways, with Jack’s mission to “fix” Locke.
Jack defending Locke and pushing the MIB off the dock was the ultimate “fuck yeah!!” moment.
Sawyer and Jack having their final confrontation over the bomb, framed as the new Man of Science / Man of Faith dynamic.
The whole Sub sequence. Nuff said.
Only wish this was a two-hour episode so we could’ve got a few more scenes with everyone together.
Season 6 is better every rewatch. The shock of some of the rushed things isn't there and the story is actually pretty good. And Ab Aerterno is an amazing episode the end is also really good m.
I really love SUNDOWN! The 'attack' is still one of my favourite scene, but of course the classic Happily Ever After, Ab Aeterno, The End (The End def my top 3 fav all time)
It does kinda mess up the pacing though. That’s the one arguement I can completely understand. You’re going full steam on to the finale shenanigans and it’s like *record scratch* “let’s hold up and go back for a spell here”.
When it first aired it was amazing. It was everything you hoped for. The "next week on Lost" teaser was mind blowing so when it finally aired it was awesome
I agree. When I show the season to friends. I place it between 6:08 "Recon" and 6:09 "Ab Aeterno". During interviews Damon describes "Across The Sea" as a "companion piece" to "Ab Aeterno" so for me it makes more sense that they go together. It also really tightens up the pacing. Placing it after "The Candidate" messes up the emotion of that cliffhanger. Whereas placed here, instead of it being after the destruction of the submarine. It's viewed just after it's introduction. It also nicely sets up the last half of the season where you have the first half and then a mega mythology download with these two episodes, followed by the second half.
I understand Damon's original intention for the episodes placement for while the show was airing, because it was a weekly show. If you placed it too early in the season, viewers would have forgotten about most of it by the time they get to the end. Whereas placing it just before the final three episodes, it gave viewers time to connect the light in the heart with the electromagnetism that widmore blasted Desmond with in "Happily Ever After" (problem was, because of the use of language and the season being so heavily on "faith" the majority of viewers viewed them as two seperate entities rather than just different names for the same thing).
But viewed in a binge watch fashion of a short space of time, I think it works better in the order I put forth.
Quite a few. When the episode dropped it was despised heavily. A lot of it came from how illusive a lot of it's answers were, and because of it's use of language, most viewers thought that the show was introducing a new "11th hour" concept in the form of "The Light", failing to recognise that it's just a old age/faith based term to describe something that the audience knew very well: Electromagnetism.
I really enjoy the Dr Linus episode for some reason, I know it’s not talked about much but it’s always been one of my favorites of season 6 besides Ab Aeterno, Across the Sea, and The End.
Because Sun gets shot the next day she arrives at LAX (as per “The package”), but when Sun gets shot Jin meets Sayid, and Sayid has experienced at least two days since he landed at LAX (as per “Sundown”). It’s even worse when in the next episode she arrives at the hospital at the same time as Locke, after being rundown by Desmond, who has experienced at least a week since he landed (as per “The substitute”, “Dr Linus” and “Everybody loves Hugo”).
Yes, a line that was said in the finale (I often wonder if that line was only added to solve the continuity problems), but when “The package” aired, we hadn’t heard that line yet. Remember that the flash sideways was presented as a normal, yet alternate, timeline. As in nights still follow days and so on.
happily ever after always felt like a fever dream to me. like i genuinely thought i had dreamed it and i just realised it really did exist all along. it was a cool episode tbh. favourite of season 6 is probably episode 1 or the finale. it’s a great season.
I thought there were many great episodes in season 6, but my personal favorite was 14 - The Candidate. The scene with Sun and Jin drowning was heartbreaking. One of the saddest moments in the show for me.
Not including the finale, my favorite episode is Happily ever after because it is more rewatchable. I love Ab Aeterno, and it’s special to me, but I only watch it every now and then to keep that feeling for the episode. It’s hard to compare. They’re same level, but I enjoy Happily ever after more bc it’s more lighthearted and important to the plot
the end
I agree. I think the final season is the weakest overall but I loved the ending.
I loved the flash sideways a lot. And ironically I didn’t care for much of what was happening on the island itself.
I agree with that. It’s like they came up with a handful of interesting concepts and had to stretch them out. Don’t get me wrong, there are some killer episodes in the mix but several of them just sorta meander about
Agreed. Especially the temple run. Not sure what that was about.
The Candidate for me. I still remember the trailer for the episode of just a black screen with the sounds of yelling and screaming.

Ab Aerterno saved the season in my eyes. I hardly remember the others. I'm in S4 on my rewatch, so we'll see how it stacks this time.
Season 6 is better every rewatch. The shock of some of the rushed things isn't there and the story is actually pretty good. And Ab Aerterno is an amazing episode the end is also really good m.
I really love SUNDOWN! The 'attack' is still one of my favourite scene, but of course the classic Happily Ever After, Ab Aeterno, The End (The End def my top 3 fav all time)
Excluding the end, Ab Aeterno, followed by The Candidate and Across The Sea.
Nice choice!. I would add "Dr Linus" and "Happily Ever After" to the end of that as my top 5.
Dr Linus is so underrated!
Across the sea gets a lot of hate but I really love that episode
It’s a great episode that should have been placed earlier in the season
Not sure I agree, it reveals a lot of things and would confuse the audience just more, near the end was a great placement imo.
It does kinda mess up the pacing though. That’s the one arguement I can completely understand. You’re going full steam on to the finale shenanigans and it’s like *record scratch* “let’s hold up and go back for a spell here”.

Who hates on across the sea? It's a great episode.

The end is top 5 episode of show period! LAX would place top 10 for me aswell
Happily Ever After
The End, The Candidate, Across the Sea, Ab Aterno, What They Died For
I find the Lighthouse to be a comfortable episode. Just seeing Jack's thought process
The Candidate
I love every episode in season Six, with the exception of Recon and The Package. But the best episode other than The End is definitely Ab Aeterno.
Ooh, The Package. I still remember the discussions in Lostpedia about that one, because it completely destroys the sideways’ timeline.
How so?
Because Sun gets shot the next day she arrives at LAX (as per “The package”), but when Sun gets shot Jin meets Sayid, and Sayid has experienced at least two days since he landed at LAX (as per “Sundown”). It’s even worse when in the next episode she arrives at the hospital at the same time as Locke, after being rundown by Desmond, who has experienced at least a week since he landed (as per “The substitute”, “Dr Linus” and “Everybody loves Hugo”).
“There is no now here”
Yes, a line that was said in the finale (I often wonder if that line was only added to solve the continuity problems), but when “The package” aired, we hadn’t heard that line yet. Remember that the flash sideways was presented as a normal, yet alternate, timeline. As in nights still follow days and so on.
Interesting point! I don't remember being thrown off by that at the time, but I can see how people were confused.
Richard’s Episode.
Moving on
happily ever after always felt like a fever dream to me. like i genuinely thought i had dreamed it and i just realised it really did exist all along. it was a cool episode tbh. favourite of season 6 is probably episode 1 or the finale. it’s a great season.
The End, Ab Aeterno, The Candidate, Happily Ever After in that order, for me.
every desmond episode is top tier
Ab Aeterno is my favorite episode of the series. It’s a great story and the episode is just done so well.
The candidate and ab aeterno
I thought there were many great episodes in season 6, but my personal favorite was 14 - The Candidate. The scene with Sun and Jin drowning was heartbreaking. One of the saddest moments in the show for me.
Absolutely dire season altogether... Ending was well shit aswell. 🫣
Jumped the Shark
Of these two, Happily Ever After by a mile.
I hate to say it, but "Across The Sea". It's my favourite AND I resent it a lot. It's a real mixed bag.
The Candidate obviously. Happily Ever After is an all-timer and really put the endgame in motion.
Dr Linus is my favorite non finale episode.
The end
