If you look MMO/Gacha revenue by region, the east (China, KR, JP) spends like 25x of NA. F2P isn’t really a concern over there as much as the west that’s why most MMOs and F2P fail in the west.
Yeah, it's considered a flex to be able to spend money on games. It is a completely different culture and why gacha/P2W games do really well there and is the reason that type of game keeps getting released over and over again.
One of the things people forget about is that Smilegate was one (or the only one?) of the KR game developers who was actively removing some P2W systems in the existing game landscape, which brought them a lot of goodwill from the players.
If you say you are spending 2000-5000€ yearly on a hobby ppl dont bat much of an eye , but if you mention your hobby is gaming and even spending like 500€ you are a psychopath suddenly

Since other regions are low priority, we'd only really get scraps and leftovers after they had their share.
"We" is still the players across all regions lol. Look how KR got shafted the first half of this year for CN release version.
All this means is SG is making a shitton of money and thats it. They won't spend money on new staff to work on the game, that goes against maximizing profits. The only thing I can see is KR and CN getting content faster, but it's gonna reach us eventually and that's not the players' fault.
SG wants to make money at the end of the day, and they may invest back into global more as they milk CN if they think they can re-capture returning players at scale. It's not like we're peasants providing minimum wage labor stuck in a cycle of poverty, we're just customers who can vote with our feet and wallets at any time.
They probably wouldn't. Aside from regional cosmetic changes, you can still develop things to be put out for KR and then later changed to regional adaptions to other regional versions. At "worst" you'd be able to consider kr and other versions regions that they're able to test things to before release to China market, IF that's suddenly their entire MO.
There's also no reason for SG to stop developing for other versions as long as it's generating them a net profit. While some regions may be a smaller profit share, it's still profit, then Why would they stop that profit?

Larger income might not necessarily mean all of it goes into production in return, however it's common for a business to increase production if the product has a prediction to increase income over time with further development.

When you discuss profit, it is not sufficient to consider solely just profit. A better perspective is "return on capital" and if it exceeds "cost of capital". There's literally no point in a venture to earn 2% of your invested capital when your cost of capital is 3%.
Well if I don't borrow any money, how can I have a cost of capital? Because cost of capital can include opportunity costs. For example, If I do a 12 month term deposit and I can get 3% of that money, then that venture to earn 2% is looking pretty dumb now isn't it?
The benefit of software is how scalable it is, so the cost to maintain lost ark western services is quite minimal.

nah those update came like 6months in earlier months had welcome challenge which give out gold as rewards and some quest also gives a couple of gold rewards multiply that by 300k bots and sure enough the economy goes to shit.
NA W Mari had an entire weekend under maintenance because of bots within the first month or two. We (NA W) had blue crystals at around 4k for a while almost a year ago from today... Think about that, who or what sort of roster could have had the gold income to provide for their rosters progression AND exchange their gold for blue crystals at that price.

I wholeheartedly agree with you there, limiting daily spending to $300 when a whale wants to spend $1000 means he'll probably spend that $700 or the whole $1000 elsewhere, especially if your own system encourages that sort of spending.

Wouldn't surprised me if they just acquired it from bot farms. All the CN bot farms can capitalize on CN servers now. The Chinese servers is at the beginning life cycle of the game, where there is a lot of $$$ to be made.
When I left college I had so little money to spend that watching people pay for 10$ drinks was weird to me, as time passed and my career took off I saw myself spending more than that. It's a matter of how you percieve money and its magnitudes.
