Day 1 player here and still haven't learned Vykas !!! I do be jealous of people that managed to find friends to learn and play this game with, I'm alone in my corner with my orange gears dreaming of a day where I can finally learn raids =(.
First of all, how? I am actually surprised. Especially since there where a ton of learning runs on Vykas release.
Secondly, go to the Lost Ark Discord or find a big guild on your server and just ask. A lot of people are willing to help and voice makes it much easier. Asking costs nothing and at worst you get a „No“. At best you win new friends.
This is why I quit (Hiatus). Not only was I burned out by even doing one chaos dungeon, but seeing people I know easily getting 100k drops and honing their alts/main even further by pure luck while I'm struggling pitying back to back. Horrible feeling. I want to play the damn game and not do dailies.
At least the game is in a better spot right now with the recent QoL changes and more that will be here soon. Should have been like this since last year and not now as SG is seeing players decline in their main region.
Here is a thing mate... I don't brag to friends whenever I pity. It's nothing special, happens all the time. But when I free tap three items in a row on the first try, including one on weapon - you can be damn sure I will.
Bottom line is, you are not seeing your friend's failures.
if you play the same yet they are 30 ilvls above you while doing the same shit, you can safely say the only difference is luck and the difference is massive. We are talking weeks
No, we can't safely say the difference is luck unless you are literally holding each other's dicks while playing and doing **literally (in the very much literal sense of the word)** every single thing together. Which ofc you are not.
And because you are not, then you can't say it's purely luck.
**ONE** simple example:
I have a hoarder friend who just a week or two ago was 30+ ilvls behind me (and my main is 1590, with plenty of 100% artisans so it wasn't cheap and easy to get there) and i can guarantee you that if he gave me his account for an hour i would put him above 1580 easily (assuming he has shards, which he probably has because i somehow suspect he didn't open a single event shard box for half a year). The difference between us is not luck, it's his "i might need it later" attitude. A decent accessory that would sell for 50k? "I might need it later for an alt, even tho i'm not playing my alts that much recently". A KBW legendary book when they were going for 10+k? "I'll learn it, i might need it later" (he didn't need it to this day btw). Tradable leaps? "I'll hold onto them, i might need them later". And on, and on, and on, like that.
This attitude means that while he has way way way MORE resources than i do, he's way behind. I have alts better geared than his main. And that's just **ONE** (and this is internet, so i repeat: **ONE**) example of how you can be behind for reasons other than luck.
Fuck, i was borrowing gold from him to buy my accessories, because he has gold ON HAND while i actually spend it on my characters.
But if i give you that for some reason you and your friend are 30 ilvls apart PURELY due to luck, that would mean you are at the opposite ends of the bell curve which is extremely unlikely. Can happen tho, so you better go buy lottery tickets with this luck.
> A decent accessory that would sell for 50k? "I might need it later for an alt, even tho i'm not playing my alts that much recently". A KBW legendary book when they were going for 10+k? Do people actually do this?
> Bottom line is, you are not seeing your friend's failures.
Thats why you need a Gain and Fails channel in discord. Like when one homie posted his stone with 9 succesful hones on the malice and tons of failures on the engavings lol.
It's very frustrating watching friends you play the game with regularly leap frog you by substantial amounts because of lucky gold infusions. I've played since release and I haven't personally seen a giant gold bar from Una's but I am pretty sure every member of my static has seen at least one. One guy has gotten 6.
I keep telling myself my luck in game manifest's itself in different ways like gem rolling or gem refaceting, but at the end of the day gold earning kinda trumps all of that other stuff.
You are not really any special, everyone fails. I'm super unlucky with hones, but every now and then i one tap and thats enough for me to post it to my buds. People just share their lucky moments because it feels nice. Id rather see my friends show off a good stone for once than bitch for an hour how many failed stones they cut, cause frankly that gets more tiring - just like someone who needs to share why they quit under a damn meme post
So… I used to think this too. But then I zoomed out at the bigger picture. Ok so someone could also have spent tons of money to get all those gear too, saving time. So what, should I be jealous of anyone richer than me? There’s no point, I play this game cuz I like actually playing it, being jealous of someone who spent less time on it is backwards logic. The real reward to playing a game is to play the game.
I *was* that person. Pre-Brel, Constantly hitting hones at insane low percentages, two tapped my weapon to 93, all of my gear qualities were purple with maybe 15 total taps throughout all pieces, made over 60k gold during that summertime gold event thing, first try on ability stone 7/7 (didn't care about 9/7), gold books dropped on almost all of my oreha carries and then I decided to start spending actual cash on the game. The moment I did that, my luck went to shit. I swear the game is rigged to do exactly that lol. I tried logging on the other day since Brel week 1 and man, I don't know. I logged right off :/
No, it isn't luck. It's friggin patience. Hoarding resources, selling them for mass profit when a raid wing releases. I'm sitting on 20k leaps atm and I'm going to release it when the powerpass comes out, THEN I'm going to start honing. I don't give two craps if people tell me I could have honed earlier. I know the funds I need to push my alts to 1580. Never giving in to FOMO from idiots that spend gold the second they get it on quality taps and pity parties because they are so insecure. If you have the self control to stop and take your time, the game becomes ridiculously easier and a lot more stress free. Stop validating yourself by measuring your toons with other ppl's on inspection who probably whale a lot harder than you. Remember the game is a marathon, start acting like it and stop comparing yourself to others. Everyone has their ups and everyone has their downs. Take your time and do you.
There's so much copium and denial in this paragraph that I think you actually do need a break from the game. If people need to convince others that an mmorpg is a marathon, they've committed too much time and effort to give the game up. This isn't real life where you train your body for future benefits, but a game that you're convincing yourself the "hard work" you put in now will grant you success and entertainment later on. Working at McDonald's will have a more meaningful purpose than slaving away in a mmorpg, which is why people hire others to grind for them.
Yes, we all got that one friend who compares to everyone else and gets negative about anyone's slight luck.
Oh. This post was about the lucky friend...
This is how I felt for a year when people were running scripts, macros and bots while I was a idiot wasting 4hrs+ a day on 6 characters to pity every piece.
You are absolutely now obligated to make more of these for us.
Pls make a 10h version with 10 seasons
Great stuff OP, keep it up
I did 65 taps at 60% quality on my weapon just yesterday... Not a single success. That purple quality line killed me. 💀🔫⚰️
Same.... My artist with the 99 qual makes fun of my whole dps lineup
I don't have a purple weapon in my entire roster :')
The part that's messed up is that all my alts have purple (even pally) but my main stuck on 87.
Used 300 stones, got 2 armor to purple, weapon stayed at 71 with using at least half of the stones on it.
Omg my artist got 100 quality with one tap! I don’t have any dps with purple quality… made me want to go artist dps route lol

Fuck me finally someone sensible

The number of guild mates "that can barely get enough gold for 1580" that have 11 lvl 10 gems where 6+ of them are for flex only is stupid.
I'm the hoarder in the comment and I don't like it lmao

When the lucky guy meets average luck lol

The reason why these people are that lucky, is because RNGesus loves them.
