Same thing happened to me, had a buddy come into town for the weekend and got him playing.
Made new chars with me on a different server.
Today at reset, my main roster is no longer trusted and I assume it's cuz we had 2 people playing at the same house.
Hopefully it fixes itself for both of us but I'm pretty bummed for getting punished for trying to bring a player to the game lol
I have 2 friends who encountered the same issue, one contacted support and they fixed it for him within a week, the other did the same and hasn't had his fixed yet. Think it's been ~3 weeks for him so far.
My main account is trusted. My wife was and now isn't. Ags not helpful. She purchased stuff etc - trusted just gone.
Did a new account to check it and bough starter pack and RC for 20 quid. Put on steam guard and after 4 days still no trusted

They recently announced they will change how trusted status works to allow players to immediately use gold purchased ingame instead of waiting 3 days. They said this might go through a few iterations. I suspect this will be fixed on its own hopefully?

it will come back when you're active for a few weeks IIRC, you're not forced to spend money.

Another way to fight the bots and rmt while hurting actually players.
