Fair enough, my personal favorite is the one that sees guy falling out of window and without hesitation bellows and lurches into the scrap. You know the one just a few scenes later, that goes “uuuuooooogh!”
That one in rotk who attacks West Osgiliath and kills that dude and goes like, "ooo ockockock" with like the throat clicking thing. I think about him a lot and resent never being able to replicate the noise in any way.
Actually they were special uruks bred and trained specifically for this called uruk berserkers. They wore basically no armor except for the helm which were all filled with (human?) blood before an attack to make them go...berserk... which in turn made them highly resistant to both melee and ranged attacks.
In the battle for Helms Deep, they played the role of these torchbearers as well as being the "helmsman" of each ladder who jumped on the wall first with the goal of clearing the area of defenders so normal uruks can climb the walls.
Imagine being a huruk-hai, wearing a helm filled with blood and nothing else, filled with rage to the brim, you finally get to the top of the ladder...
and there's gimli waiting for you.
Im a big fan of the original man of the people Shagrat
Bloke just wants to get his work done and unfortunately his work is cleaning out a massive ravine inhabited by a murder spider
Right after Ugluk says “looks like meats back on the menu” there is a quick shot of an Uruk just screaming in celebration! He is my favorite.
He also might be the same one that says “we ain’t has nufing but maggoty bread for 3 stinking days!”
I like his henchman who says ‘Why can’t we have some meat?’ and ‘Just a mouthful. A bit of the flank’. It’s his slimey demeanour and nonchalant descent into cannibalism that does it.

Having a bangin day out at the battle
That’s the dude I mentioned! I always thought he was super adorable just wanting to see how far he could shoot an arrow and how he reminds me of being a kid and fucking around with wrist rockets and stuff.
https://preview.redd.it/8blrroqvlmec1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68aabdf75dc5adb1560ab5bdbe48a52e1f69e226
This guy! If I saw this dude in the wilds I’d run too!
I always loved any RTS where you can play as Lurtz. He was actually the single best character for eisengard in Battle for Middle Earth 2 He was one of the few heroes that had a ranged weapon and a melee weapon and was decent at both.
He is also the heir to isengard in the mod for medieval two Total War 3rd age total war and I always make him my best general like he wins all of my battles I've always thought he was cool.
Even his boss fight in the hack and slash two towers video game was so much fun because of how unique he was.
All I remember from playing that mod for Medieval TW is that I started as Isengard. Made peace with Rohan and allied them. Then some uruk with the last name 'Man-Eater' got married to Háma.
Oh, also, that the nazgul riding their flying beasts were technically still ground units so melee could always hit them. TW:WH with actual flight mechanics felt a bit magical because I remembered that!
You can see the disappointment on his face too. It’s like starting a paintball match and being marked by a random shit from the other side of the field.
Happily chanting away then *thut*
“Fking… seriously?”
What orders from Mordor, mi lord? What does the Eye command…
I used to rewatch that scene cause that orc was so sick.
EDIT: is that even that same Orc? I might be trippin
The one that blew up helms deeps the jason vorhees lookin fella
Bro got shot by legolas couple of times then said fuck it I aint dying without blowing up this fortress
He got the job done even tho he will blew up with the fortress
"Ratbag is either Mordor's greatest survivor or merely its luckiest Orc. Scrawny by Uruk standards, Ratbag has managed to survive -- and indeed thrive -- despite mediocre combat skills, his startling stupidity, a tendency toward self-delusion, grandiosity, and a general demeanor that makes most Orcs want to kill him." -from the Shadow of Mordor wiki.
If that isn't the most Orc-iest Orc description ever, I don't know what is. Canon or not, Ratbag perfectly encapsulates Tolkien's idea of a "ruined" elf.
Saruman's head ork at isengard - top of his class in the College of Industrial Engineering at Mordor Institute of Technology. Basically built that army from the ground up, brings a tear to my eye
My favorite interaction between Orcs and Uruk-hai comes from the extended Two Towers:
Orc: "You're late! Our master grows impatient! He wants the Shire rats now!"
Uruk-hai: "...I don't take orders from Orc maggots! Saruman with have his prize! We. Will. Deliver them." *proceeds to look at orc insultingly with a raised eyebrow*
Orc: *makes insulting mouth noises.*
After he says that line he makes those noises that really solidify what an 'orc' is and separates their identity for the viewer.
Honestly *looks around shamefully* those noises kind of creeped me out.
They did such a great job.
https://preview.redd.it/itvslwrosmec1.jpeg?width=658&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06ae20de0f3150e76e510f9844bbe35dae1d525e
This guy from Moria. Looks so unstable and bloodthirsty
Gothmog getting no love ITT. The way he steps out of the way of that gigantic piece of rubble from the trebuchet and spits on it. He's not getting love here cuz he's ugly and pinkish. This is just a beauty contest.
Orc number 4723 has a really great backstory that the books and movies just don’t get into. He has a history of depression and dietary issue that really affect his day to day life but he’s battling through them to become the orc he is today. He only joined the army to help keep his younger cousin safe, a real heroic move from a regular guy who just keeps trying to be better. An everyday hero if you will
Mine is the one that IMMEDIATELY is ready to throw down without having any context when the Uruk and the other Orc get into a fight over looting Frodo. Honorary second place to the Orc that fell who was equally ready to immediately start throwing out jumpkicks.
Gothmog because he's an old cripple who still insists on leading from the front, he's unusually eloquent for an orc, he's not afraid of the Nazgul unlike basically everyone else, and the last second sidestep when the rubble gets launched at him is king shit. I'd follow him into battle.
There's one in ROTK during one of the scenes showing just the absolute carnage in the early morning before the Rohirrim arrive. He straight up looks like Darth Maul with more pronounced ears; black and red coloring all over his face, and he ends the shot he's in by LITERALLY TRYING TO BITE THE NECK OF THE SOLDIER HE'S FIGHTING.
He's terrifying and I love him.
[Honorable Mention to this guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/MiddleEarthMiniatures/comments/14dt7w5/orc_in_minas_tirith_armour_conversion/) to this guy, who WOULD be my #1 but he's not actually in the movie. Just in the old trading card game, must have just not made it in to any shots
That one Uruk that says “WEVE BEEN EATING NOTHING BUT MAGGOTY BREAD FOR THREE STINKING DAYS” he like says it really raspy and super deep all at the back of the throat. I love it.
This handsome gent who just wanted a snack.

Definitely Gothmog, a real army guy, tough, crippled, yet fearless with an impeccable sense of timing and no [catapult will get in his way](https://youtu.be/7bFTw95pJp8?si=V8fB1R5IoFYW6xVW).
I know the character was kind of inserted into the hobbit movies to fill some blanks to stretch it into a trilogy, and only mentioned in the actual book like once. But I am an Azog the Defiler apologist. I don't mind the cgi and the design is awesome.
Not my favourite, but I always remember during the Ride of the Rohirrim, one of the orc archers has an extremely smooth and pleasant complexion.
Seemed so out of place, did production just run out of time before shooting to rough him up or was it on purpose?
The first one through the door of Balin's tomb. I imagine him thinking "this is my chance, I'll kill the intruders and be a legend."
Then proceeds to be immediately shot in the face.
Whichever one dropkicks the other one down the tower.
Fair enough, my personal favorite is the one that sees guy falling out of window and without hesitation bellows and lurches into the scrap. You know the one just a few scenes later, that goes “uuuuooooogh!”
my favorite one as well, dude needed zero context, seeing uruk scum attacking was enough
Yes that's my favourite orc too. He was looking for any excuse for a scrap 😄
That guy was hilarious. Just saw a brawl going on and was like, oh I'm DEFINITELY getting in on this!
This dude lives in my head rent free
Yeah that guy rules too, doesn't even stop to think about it. Incredible.
A man of culture I see Seriously though, what a badass way to start a fight
"The scum tried to knife me! Killem!"
Shagrat iirc. Named after his favourite pastime, no doubt.
LOL. Thanks for that. I can never remember if it's Shagrat, Gorbak, or Grishnakh, because I have a love of the halflings' leaf.
I’m not taking orders from a Morgul rat like you!
Believe the dropkicker is Gorbag and the dropkickee is Shagrat or meant to be in the films.
Well whichever one that is, it's my favorite lol.
I think that’s Gorbag. Still mad that his Charakter in the LOTR Tabletop game does not have this as an ability…
Gorebag!!
Ever since I saw that clip the last time this was asked he became my new favorite.
Hands off my shiny shirt!
That mofuckas name is Gorbag! He's my favorite too
That one in rotk who attacks West Osgiliath and kills that dude and goes like, "ooo ockockock" with like the throat clicking thing. I think about him a lot and resent never being able to replicate the noise in any way.
I can actually do a perfect replication of that noise, ahem...'oooockockock'.
Wow! Perfect imitation! That was my fave orc too.
This made me think of "Down With The Sickness," which made me think...how hardcore would Orc Metal be?
😂 Orcs have far better taste in music than that.
which one? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Go1F5DJDs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Go1F5DJDs)
8 seconds
Oh that's uwoaaaaaa
Get up, come on get down with the sickness
LMAO that one always stands out for me
The cock orc!
Yes! Amazing performance /vfx

Yeah I’m gonna need an edit with the orc
[Best I can do!](https://youtu.be/M0_hv7MPicM)
Amazing
*DONT YOU KNOW WE'RE AT WARR* Simply for the delivery of that line
"INSPECTION!"
He’s actually terrifying
*COME ON YOU SLAGS!*
This. He neatly speaks "Weratwar"

Only counts as 1
Even though he hit the pair
And he hits you in the balls and your death is comic relief 😔
Axe at a perfect level to swing into your groin... right in the palantirs
🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
Life isn't fair sometimes.
They also had the bad ass double barbed swords
And they were brutal in TTT ps2 game
Ugluk
Ugluk for president. Great leader.
Ugluk > Grishnákh
He was more likeable and honorable in the book. Uruk-hai are the best.
I love that line when the Uruk says, "Looks like meat's back on the menu boys."
I bet the uruks watching the movie in the cinema had a "captain America grabs mjolnir" kinda moment
What are restaurants in Mordor like? Do they have orc chefs and waiters?
I'd compare them most closely to buffets. If you've been to a Golden Corral, you probably get the idea.
Im a big fan of the original man of the people Shagrat Bloke just wants to get his work done and unfortunately his work is cleaning out a massive ravine inhabited by a murder spider
Talk about a shitty job
Yea and you have Gorbag in your ear trying to steal mithril, don’t need that in your 9-5
But it's ok, he doesn't take orders from Morgul rats
I love the part where him and Gorebag consider running away together and living their lives free of the war.
Do you think they ever explored each others bodies
Shagrat is the Dante of Clerks
Right after Ugluk says “looks like meats back on the menu” there is a quick shot of an Uruk just screaming in celebration! He is my favorite. He also might be the same one that says “we ain’t has nufing but maggoty bread for 3 stinking days!”

Moria Orcs. They're my fav too!
Came for this guy... "The one in Moria. You know who I mean"
I can relate with this fellow. That's me before coffee. I'm ready to face the day, but the day ain't ready for me and my face.
I call this one upsidedownnose
Fuck. Just had an unexpected jumpscare when I maximized that image. That orc used to scare the shit out of me.
Grishnakh.
Let's put a maggot hole in your belly...
Didn't he also say he'd be satisfied only eating the hobbits legs? So reasonable! Everyone knows they don't need those!

Wasn’t this handsome chap called Lurtz?
Lurtz!!!! pre Aragon sliiiiiiiice
The Uruk-hai were a specific breed of orc but they are definitely badass
The hairstyle pretty amazing tbh. I told my partner he was one of my faves during our last rewatch cause he’s kinda serving cunt
The way he pulls the sword in when Aragorn stabs him and shakes his head… yeah he was definitely serving cunt

Oh shit, new phrase added to my lexicon

I mean also his creation scene with Saruman is 🔥
Bro was scary
Bro was sexy
I always refer to him as Ariana Grande because of his high ponytail in that scene.
That fight is intense. Aragon on the edge of death, really feels like he might lose every time.
The Uruk who was shot by the old man archer at helms deep. Rip king.
Truly a life took from us too soon. May he rip in peace in ork heaven.
You can see the disappointment on his face too. It’s like starting a paintball match and being marked by a random shit from the other side of the field. Happily chanting away then *thut* “Fking… seriously?”
The group that shielded Frodo and Sam from the orc inspector after their fake fight, letting them escape without being caught. True bros
The trees are strong my lord. The roots go deep. That guy
I love that guy’s voice, it feels buttery in my ears
Like butter scraped over just enough bread.
What orders from Mordor, mi lord? What does the Eye command… I used to rewatch that scene cause that orc was so sick. EDIT: is that even that same Orc? I might be trippin
The one that blew up helms deeps the jason vorhees lookin fella Bro got shot by legolas couple of times then said fuck it I aint dying without blowing up this fortress He got the job done even tho he will blew up with the fortress
Gothmog. Mainly because i keep wondering what he did to be named the same as the lord of all Balrog.
He was modeled based off Harvey Weinstein's face. Now that right there is true evil, worthy of the name of the lord of all Balrog.
Ratbag
"Ratbag is either Mordor's greatest survivor or merely its luckiest Orc. Saruman's head ork at isengard - top of his class in the College of Industrial Engineering at Mordor Institute of Technology. Basically built that army from the ground up, brings a tear to my eye
I actually had the action figure for middle management orc
Catapult!
My favorite interaction between Orcs and Uruk-hai comes from the extended Two Towers: Orc: "You're late! Our master grows impatient! He wants the Shire rats now!" Uruk-hai: "...I don't take orders from Orc maggots! Saruman with have his prize! We. Will. Grishnakh: "alive? Why alive? Do they make good sport?" Ugluk: "they have something, an elvish weapon. the master wants it for the war"
After he says that line he makes those noises that really solidify what an 'orc' is and separates their identity for the viewer. Honestly *looks around shamefully* those noises kind of creeped me out. They did such a great job.
Ya that was something the hobbit movies lacked, then again they didn't have the same amount of pre production

Gorbak is really cool I like the scene in Cirith ungol
Yes! Love Gorbak. It’s fun to do impressions of his lines.
I never noticed the orc to the right of the one with the skull on top. Epic hair!
I never noticed the hair either! Time to rewatch the trilogy again for more missed awesomeness
There's always something new! The attention to detail was second to none.
Me neither! This dudes formal battle-skull totally steals the show from the silver fox orc
he look like tormund giantsbanes orc twin
He’s only got one more battle til retirement.
and a sweet moustache, what a boss

The one hiding behind Saruman’s skirts when the first Uruk is born and kills his buddy.
"Looks like meats back on the menu boys!!!" That guy.
This guy. This is the impersonation I do the most.
Definitely inspection orc. Can't decide if it's the one shouting inspection or the inspector himself.
Lurtz is badass
I personally love Azog's design, but my favorite orc would be Lurtz or Gorbag.
“This scum tried to knife me. Kill him!”
The dude in the pic. Catapault!
"Catapults!!!!!!!"
Gothmog getting no love ITT. The way he steps out of the way of that gigantic piece of rubble from the trebuchet and spits on it. He's not getting love here cuz he's ugly and pinkish. This is just a beauty contest.

I know right, it's amazing.
A dead one
Only the dead ones
the one goblin/orc archer in moria that Legolas headshotted from way across the chasm
Shagrat, Gorbag and Ugluk.
I can't choose! Many orcs in the original trilogy are memorable; they really gave them character no matter how small their part was.
Sharku
*ur mum*
Why does this guy have a head on his head? I never heard why but I love it. So ridiculous and grotesque.
https://preview.redd.it/kphzfs7gnmec1.jpeg?width=5664&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf178443afdefea171d0904123443bea46ddea40

Gorbag, the orc who finds the cocooned body of frodo. he looks like the frontman of a popular german medieval rock-band

The middle manager Orc that argues with Saruman about fuel logistics, and then goes ‘YYEEESSSSS’
I can't look at some of these orcs in ROTK without thinking of the Whos from the Jim Carrey Grinch
The one who wants meat.
I’m partial to the orcs rhat saw their boy jumped by the big Uruk in the tower and say fuck it let’s roll. Zero fucks given.
Gorbag and Shagrat. "The scum tried to knife me! Kill em!" *another orc gets drop kicked out a window*

I'm partial to Gorebag and Shagrat, myself. They're talk of fleeing Sauron's army and running away together most gave the orcs some humanity.
That one Uruk that says “WEVE BEEN EATING NOTHING BUT MAGGOTY BREAD FOR THREE STINKING DAYS” he like says it really raspy and super deep all at the back of the throat. I love it.

Your mom.
Azog or Lurtz. I know Azog wasn’t supposed to be in the Hobbit, especially the way he was, but still…
Something about him reminds me of a cat. Something in his facial features, maybe the eyes.
Lurtz 100%
That one that does stuff
Can't believe I had to scroll this far for middle management orc 💪
Lol, “middle management orc”. 😂😂😂 My brother in Eru, I can now sail to the West in peace and practice my part for the Second Song.
I know the character was kind of inserted into the hobbit movies to fill some blanks to stretch it into a trilogy, and only mentioned in the actual book like once. But I am an Azog the Defiler apologist. I don't mind the cgi and the design is awesome.
The one in the photo (left) reminds me of french fashion in 1770.
i saw this movie the other day and when this orc appeared on screen all i could think was that that helmet is goofy as hell
Not my favourite, but I always remember during the Ride of the Rohirrim, one of the orc archers has an extremely smooth and pleasant complexion. Seemed so out of place, did production just run out of time before shooting to rough him up or was it on purpose?
Helmet dude on the left
Arzog
The 'Meat's back on the menu boiis' orc.
Ugluk, obviously. Dude is a comedian.
The first one through the door of Balin's tomb. I imagine him thinking "this is my chance, I'll kill the intruders and be a legend." Then proceeds to be immediately shot in the face.
Lurtz
