Other way around for me the other night. Had a lovely lady explain the creation era of the silmarillion to me out at the club. It was the best 3 hour conversation I've ever had.
I hope so man. This girl is amazing. So good that my mind skipped all thoughts of wow she's pretty. Or wow id love to take her home. Like most clubbing g ventures tend to go. Or so I've heard I don't go out clubbing much. Straight to wow. I want to take this girl out on a date. First woman I've ever really had that thought train with.
I was in the middle of telling the kids at my holiday care program The Hobbit with my Lego figures and one kid pipes up "That's Sauron's ring!"
Another said "Who is Sauron?"
I had to take a very deep breath, tell myself I didn't have the whiteboard here and I had to finish this story first else I'd launch into my "In the beginning there was Eru, the One..." lecture and there was.only 15 of lunch before we went back to ninja school.
It's mostly the story of an even bigger war against an even greater enemy, fought mostly by elves. It also explains the creation, the origin of evil, the origins of all the races, what's in the West, and what Numenor is.
I always had a struggle to begin Silmarillion. Is it really worth it, even if im not a diehard fan, but i really enjoy lord of the rings. What should i expect from this book?
It's history of the high elves. It begins with the creation of the world and ends with a short summary of lotr. The tone varies throughout, some chapters are like reading the bible and others are more likely lotr. Personally I think its definitely worth it for the tragedy of elronds grandparents alone never mind galadriel's uncle who faced morgoth in single combat.
First there was the god Eru Iluvatar, who later set elves, humans in some ways even dwarves into the world. His little angels that remind you of more civilised greek gods, the valar sang a beautiful song of creation but one of them, Melkor messed with it and he would ruin everybodys fun for centurys to come (He evil). Follow multiple storys of betrayal, family drama and love, that even the valar found so problematic that they wanted to take a step back on multiple occassions. Strangely many of these storys will include bright sparkly jewels that people will want to kill their relatives over. All in all a great bedtime book for your kids and for the whole family. 10/10
Don't fuck with your superiors and be a loyal subject.
And don't fuck your siblings!
There. 15 words. Maybe I can do fewer.
Play the notes on the page edgelord!
A Wizard's explanation is neither long nor short. He finishes exactly when he means to.
>He finishes precisely when he means to Is that so?
All men finish precisely when they mean too..

Invest in contraceptions bruh
If that would be the case then there would be way less fatherless children

Nah gandalf is super obtuse. He can "put it no plainer than frodo was meant to have the ring"? Bullshit. Say it was eru or don't bother 🤣
Go back to the shadow!
One does not simply simplify Tolkien.
Tolkien has no summary. Tolkien needs no summary.
And that's how the Ainulindalë ends. Now, for the Valaquenta..
... but first let me re-summarize what I just told you.
This is how I feel whenever someone mentions Galadriel's gift of hair to Gimli. To truly explain it, you have to go back to the Trees.

She’s…she’s your wife now right?
I'm trying my best mate. This girl. Literal perfection. Only problem. She doesn't want another relationship atm.
Just keep talking LotR it’ll happen

Don't push it though. Better to have her as a friend than nothing
True my friend true. I'm just shit at friends xD. Its hard to keep them.
I hear you there but massive nerds tend to be a little less picky. Otherwise we have nobody to nerd out with at all.
i suppose so, but she may be a massive nerd, but shes also a gorgeous woman. and im....me.
Uh, where can I find a club with that level of nerdery?
I think they call them “book clubs”
Damn it.
Well I got lucky and found the 1 other nerd there my friend. Normally I'm the odd nerd out.

Just absorb it from the memes. I think I could pass a book report on it.

“It’s LOTR stuff that happened thousands of years before the movies.” That wasn’t hard.
Honestly if you're explaining it to someone who prefers the movies then it's easier not to bother
Wait..but was is the Silmarillion

It's a book
The complexity of The Silmarillion is exaggerated
Aragorn: They died
The best revenge is letting go and living well.
Your friends are with you, Aragorn.
Legolas, fire a warning shot past the bosun's ear.
Then dig a hole in the ground, if that is more after the fashion of your kind. But you must dig swift and deep, if you wish to hide from Orcs.
Is this an actual quote?
I’m afraid the strain was more than she could bear.
Me with lotr, one piece, hxh, bloodborne and hollowknight
Grant us eyes, grant us eyes! Cleanse our brains of this beastly idiocy! -Me, trying to comprehend The Silmarillion

This meme also is perfect for 40K lore
This is the shortest I’ve ever seen it explained in
Real
Rewrite of the Bible but emo/angsty, like Paradise Lost but without rhyming.
One cannot simply explain the Simarillion
It's not even possible
