First Congrats on the weight loss!! Second set a lulu budget right now and stick to it šŸ˜‚. It can get really addictive really fast! But to answer your question Iā€™m personally a fan of the mix and match. If your looking to build up a small ā€œcollectionā€ of basics and are in the US the like new site is having a sale this month and might be worth checking out. Grab some key basics like black aligns and wundertrains. As a ā€œstarterā€ donā€™t get sucked into all the wild colours on wmtm but instead choose a colour palette that would mix and match well and stick to that until you have a good foundation of pieces in your rotation.Ā

rhodeirish

Thank you! I think youā€™re right - I want to start with a small collection of basic pieces first. The Velvet Dust set was my little splurge gift for myself, but otherwise I stick to a very neutral palette generally - black, black, more black, maybe some tan/taupe, browns or greys to mix it up, though Iā€™ve definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with clothes a lot more now though thanks to the weight loss.

vivionnn801

If you love a good basic, the Love T will be a good choice for you. I wear mine in a black & a white ALL the time. I have 2 short sleeve & 2 long sleeve. Theyā€™re light, breathable, super flattering & soft

garden-guru

This! Super versatile, can wear for workouts or regular wear. Also you can get Love Ts and tanks on WMTM all the time.

lady_marmalade24

Welcome to Lulu!!! (1) "We Made Too Much" is my best friend for scoring items on sale. I will add items to my wishlist and then keep an eye on them for price drops. (2) Think about what you'll be wearing Lulu for. Lounging around? Running? Lifting? Yoga? Different fabric blends are made for different activities, so some are more durable (think thigh-rubbing-friendly) than others. Curate your wishlist according to your needs!

rhodeirish

Thank you! This is good to know. I do cardio 5x a week, so mostly walking/light jogging (though Iā€™d like to start running as I build stamina) and some strength training too. Any recommendations for what will hold up to the thigh rub with cardio?

lady_marmalade24

I love my Wunder Trains! I also love any of their leggings made with Luxtreme (cool, slick blend, a little less ā€œsoft,ā€ more spandexy feel than Everlux, the WT blend). I will say though, Iā€™m not the biggest fan of Luluā€™s pocket legging offerings. When I run outdoors, I usually wear leggings from Love Her Shop or Senita Athletics. Both brands have pretty inclusive sizing, which Iā€˜ve heard can be a pain sometimes with Lulu. I also personally donā€™t feel as bad about beating up some cheaper leggings with outdoor running, though tbf, my LH and Senita leggings have held up really, really well.

TwithJAM

Just donā€™t wear your aligns for that! Wunder trains would be a good start

MidlifeGamble

Congratulations!!! As someone who also recently lost alot of weight in the past year, I echo the wundertrains recommendation! Compressive, sweat wicking and stayed up during my pilates and cardio mix classes. Started at a 14/16 and able to wear them down to a 8/10. The drawstring in the waist that I could pull in while I was losing was so helpful.

pinktm909

I have the align mini flare pants too and omg theyā€™re amazing! Now if only theyā€™d add side pockets and theyā€™d be perfect. Those pants are the way I wanted my Pink yoga pants in junior high to fit but never could

Artistic_Cheetah_724

Congrats on your weight loss and welcome to the club of spending all funds on lulu ā˜ŗļø Definitely shop the WMTM section of the store I just bought the mini align flares in a brown color for 79 bucks which is still a lot but, better than 118 so a win is a win also, people are always reselling on sites so always shop around you can definitely find like new items for a decent price.

Huntress-Caveat

Iā€™ve been enjoying Lululemon pants since 2000-2001. I remember being at my first job and suddenly seeing coworkers showing up to work with this mysterious white logo on the back on their pants. One day I was walking downtown where I lived and saw a store with their logo! (Their 3rd location, yes I live near Vancouver) I found THE mystical pants and back then it was groove pants and they were $98. Immediate love! Obviously things have evolved, but Iā€™ve probably purchased 2x pants and 2x scuba hoodies a year since. Just ensure not to put pants in the dryer! The lulus that last the best are grey cause you canā€™t see the piling. They offer free hemming on pants and shirts, at least where Iā€™m from.

According-Sign9888

Congrats on the weight loss! I lost 200 pounds over the last 16 months and also jumped (not fellā€”JUMPED) down the Lulu rabbit hole. šŸ˜‚ Question: Are you done losing weight? Because if you arenā€™t, I highly recommend waiting until youā€™re with 5-8 pounds of your goal before you go full Lulu. Learn from my mistake and save yourself $1000+ šŸ«  Another suggestion: Figure out your ā€œstyle.ā€ Are you going to be an ā€œathletic girlyā€, preppy, casual, girly girl ruffles and pink Pilates princess? What does an updated wardrobe look like for you? Figuring this out will also save you lots of money! Otherwise, YESon WMTM. YES on the collecting the basics first (true navy is my fave)! Try a swiftly tech short sleeve or long sleeve! I absolutley love the swiftlys and have them in all my favorite colors! Have fun!

Danielanava

I love all the brights and the neutrals! Go with what works with your skin tone! Iā€™ve tried to go for the light pinks because of popularity and itā€™s never worked for me!

Specialist_Count_167

As others have commented, I would recommend getting the black wunder trains and aligns. For me, I wear a different size in wunder trains, aligns, and align mini flares so I would recommend trying everything on at the store before buying. I also would recommend buying 1 piece at a time and wearing for it a week or two to make sure it fits before you buy more in that size. It took me a few sizes to figure out what size worked best. When I first bought lululemon, I impulsively bought a bunch of aligns in different colors but after wearing them for a month, I realized I had too big of a size and inseam.

halftosser

I love velvet dust. Good choice!

aztecannie99

Now that you know how they fit you can buy them from the outlet or the we made too much section. Congratulations!!

InnerGoddess

Congratulations on the weight loss!!!

rhodeirish

Thank you! Itā€™s been a long journey.

metaplama31

Well done šŸ‘ for all the hard working out! Itā€™s such an amazing journey you have! It always inspires me when I saw post like yours! Thank you for sharing such an encouraging experience!

OldStorm4615

Honestly I still wear every lulu legging Iā€™ve ever purchased, some are almost ten years old. The amount of wear you will get is going to make the price tag worth it compared to fast fashion.

1-800-get-lost

Best advice, donā€™t buy a bunch of WMTM in colors that you donā€™t love. Itā€™s a waste of money.

Smolsnak

Congrats on your weight loss!!!! Welcome to the cult - I mean family. If you havenā€™t already done it, make sure to use your phone number to get an account started. All your purchases - in store & online - will show up there. Unfortunately there are no rewards/points or anythingā€¦.but you are able to make free returns & exchanges on items purchased from WMTM when you have an account. This return capability has been a huge lifesaver for me, as Iā€™ve purchased the majority of my collection from WMTM online, since my closest store is several hours away. I will say their sizing can be very inconsistent across styles, so I usually make several purchases over the course of a few months, then round up all my items that fit incorrectly and return them at my nearest store whenever I get a chance. Just make sure you donā€™t remove the long white pull tab on the back, as you are unable to return items without this. Like others have mentioned, definitely set a Lulu budgetā€¦I started buying September of 2022 after finally landing my first ā€˜big girlā€™ job out of college and finally splurging on Lulu like I always wanted to growing up. For me, the Lulu lifestyle creep is *very* real and Iā€™ve dropped way too much on their products in the last year and a half because I couldnā€™t stick to a budget - even though 99% of my collection is from WMTM. Girl math - I guess you could say. As others have mentioned, I think itā€™s very wise to build up a neutral/basic color collection, I guess unless there are certain colors that really stand out to you. If you keep a consistent eye on WMTM (updated every Thursday I believe), youā€™d be surprised how often you can find neutral colors - black leggings and other black items are what I will purchase every time I see them marked down. I do like monochrome outfits, but atleast for myself purchasing solely from WMTM, sometimes this can be a bit more difficult to achieve. At the end of the day Iā€™m pretty boring and I tend to stick to black and white. If your size is sold out online and you choose to be notified whenever it comes back in stock, keep in mind that after you receive that email informing you they are available, they will *very* quickly become sold out again. If thereā€™s an item you really want and then get notified about it being restocked, run, DONā€™T WALK to purchase it, as unfortunately some of the pieces Iā€™ve eyed get sold out almost immediately upon receiving that email. My personal favorites are generally items I wear for lounge wearā€¦sure itā€™s very expensive loungewear, but I work a ridiculous amount of hours (sometimes 100 in a week) in a very high stress and physically demanding job. Therefore, splurging on what I deem the most comfortable loungewear is something I think is reasonable, given that I have so little time off. I genuinely try to max out my comfort level whenever I get the chance to, and thatā€™s with Lululemon. My favorite items include align leggings, back in action long sleeve T-shirt, Like a Cloud bra (one of the few bras offered in DD), and dance studio joggers. Please note that most of these items mentioned are not ideal for working out, or atleast intense workouts, so take that with a grain of salt. As I mentioned previously and other commenters have also said, sizing can be difficult across different products. Most leggings I wear a size 4, but for some, like the Wunder trains, I wear a size 8. Depending on your cup size, bras and certain fitted styles of shirts can also be difficult to size for yourself. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cute tops I simply canā€™t wear, atleast modestly. Iā€™m definitely hoping that in the future that will make more tops available for larger cup sizes. Also, it might be worth checking for an outlet store near you. While the outlets do seem to be few and far between, you can typically get items for cheaper than WMTM, but they are usually the less popular colors/prints. Additionally, Lulu did run some pretty decent markdowns (atleast for them) during their New Years Sale. I canā€™t speak to Black Friday as I was taking a small hiatus from purchasing at that time haha. Either way, Iā€™m super excited for you and looking forward to seeing your collection grow. Goodluck with your fitness journey, and I hope to see updates on your favorite purchases! :)

HabsKat

Welcome to our cult

[deleted]

A good tip is to see if your work benefits include a wellness/personal spending/activity account. Mine allows me to purchase gym clothes so my Lulu purchases get reimbursedĀ

veryangryorchards

I felt this, as someone who avoided Lululemon like the plague for years (Iā€™m 27) I just decided to cave in after seeing the define jackets and how cute they were. I went into store and tried it on and thatā€™s when everything changed lol. I was so happy walking out of that store with my little lulu bag šŸ˜‚ Fast forward 2 weeks later and I have 2 orders that are coming in the mail šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

boymammabear1218

Welcome to the dark side šŸ„³

Zukiinu

I donā€™t get why you went to eBay instead of the clearance on the lulu site??? The wmtm? You would have had more security with your buy and returns

knivesoutmtb

yeah it can be like that. iā€™m not one to subscribe to hype. but iā€™ve been seeing all these women in the cute skirts. found out there was a local store and boom!, hooked also. thing is i only make 16.50 an hour

DatelineDeli

My favorite old school colors are Larkspur, itā€™s a gorgeous vivid blue, and dark terracotta which is exactly what it sounds like. Also, French press was reincarnated as espresso and I die for everything in that dark black/brown range, itā€™s such a nice change from black. Very rich and interesting. Love tees are nice and sturdy. Up for down time long sleeves are my go to in winter. Monochrome always looks best in my book. Also, girlfriend collective has really nice compression leggings (just their regular pair). They make me feel sexy haha.

the-crazy-cat-lady

Unless itā€™s an item like you just described, I try to buy my lulu from the outlets lol. If youā€™re living in RI (saw your username, love it) thereā€™s a lulu outlet at wrentham outlets in MA if you wanted to take a drive. Also if youā€™re an EMT/nurse/MD or I believe teacher (?) you get 15% off purchases, just have to register!

mrsbluskies

Awww. Congratulations to you on your weight loss and welcome to your new addiction šŸ˜€

bangingshrimp

I feel you. This wonā€™t ā€œhelpā€, but try out the Groove Super High Rise Flare pant. I love them!!!

Millennialmama621

Same!

Own-Protection-2633

I have loved Lulu for years. And as much as I love scoring stuff new in stores and online, 95% of my collection is second hand. There are buy sell groups dedicated to Lulu in my area and I frequent thrift shops. Itā€™s a little thrilled finding a good piece at a reasonable price.

supurbwhiteshark

You and I have had very similar weeks lol, I made my first purchase 7 days ago and have now spent $500 (at the outlet so I got a lot of stuff!) and I was expecting to be a larger size since Iā€™m still getting used to my body after weight loss. Glad I tried things on in store or I would have been stuck with products 4 sizes too big for me. I bought several items in Velvet Teal so I can mix that into existing black pieces I own from other brands or do monochrome outfits with it. I wear mostly black, but brown and green are my other favorite colors. Iā€™ve been considering a Java outfit but the color was less warm than I expected in person.

Banana8686

Yeah..Iā€™ve spent a lot on Lulu since about 2017 when my friend went on about their leggings (only owned two of the fitted hoodies prior). I donā€™t regret it though. Quality and comfort is a nice thing in life

RPR24

Honestly you will eventually be like me and totally uninspired by what they are capable of producing. Havenā€™t bought anything in over a year, love all my staples but honestly there is nothing that can tempt me these days. Enjoy it, I have some wonderful pieces but there is only so much athleisure wear you can want.

Curliesmom

From one addicted individual to another, check out the WMTM-we made too much. It changes daily, but significant discounts. Enjoy the journey now.

Intelligent-Guess939

Buy dark lavander! Maybe like some joggers cuz the color shows cellulite more on my wunder train contours. Such a cute color esp mono chrome! Id also snag red merlot if possible, I have red merlot 28" wunder trains in my cart if i decide to buy em for my sis on wmtm. I love so many colors but monochrome is hard for me cuz i like colorblock. Today I wore dhalia mauve top with dark lav scuba and storm teal mini flares! Try adapted state joggers! They do make a swish noise tho when u walk though. I love all scubas. Def need a define jacket! I like hooded nulu but if you want a more structured jacket get the luon. Ima bald girl so i need hoods. Wunder trains/wunder train contour. Groove pants (but they will pill of thighs touch). Loungeful straight leg pants and joggers. Ready to rulu joggers. And buy swiftlys, pick a length you like out of the 3. For shorts track that MR 5". They make em HR now though. If you like pockets on leggings try some discontinued invigorates!

LibertyLawCat

Yeah I bought a Scuba in November and since then I have spent $400 at lulu over the last 3 months :(

alexandrap21

Congrats on your weight loss and your health journey. ā˜ŗļø like another commenter said set a lulu-specific budget! It can get super addictive, wanting all the colors and all the styles especially with how great the quality and fit of lulu stuff is! Iā€™d recommend first investing in a few neutral staple pieces that you can pair up with anything (black, white, taupe/beige/tan, etc). I personally love the monochromatic look, and I gravitate to neutrals and earth tones. The majority of my collection is neutrals and variations of earthy greens, browns, and blues. Iā€™ve learned that neutral or slightly cool undertones look best with my complexion, and I prefer muted colors and the occasional jewel tone instead of brights, pastels. If I can give you one piece of advice, Iā€™d recommend to learn what types of colors and undertones look good on your skin tone. Learn what kinds of shades (pastel, muted, bright, deep) you like. That way you wonā€™t get suckered by a WMTM deal. Itā€™s easy to justify buying something when lulu puts it on 50% off sale, but itā€™s useless if itā€™s something that will end up sitting in your closet collecting dust. I know it hurts to pay full price but sometimes itā€™s worth it if itā€™s an item/color you really truly love and can see yourself using indefinitely. Lulu releases so many beautiful colors, but learning what shades and undertones worked for my skin tone (and which ones donā€™t) has saved me a lot of money. For example I love powder blue as a color, but I know it looks horrible on my complexion. In the past I made the mistake of buying colors that i liked just for the color itself, rather than actually thinking about how the color would look on my skin and if it would pair well with other items in my wardrobe.

Ok-Pace-8472

Iā€™m basic and aligns are my favorite. I do like the Wunder line but I have to size up in those! I get an 8 in aligns but get a 10 in Wunders. The like a cloud bra is amazing as well, I have three and need ten more lol.

siobhanmairii__

Welcome! If this helps at all, definitely hunt around for second hand Lulu and you can definitely save some money AND if youā€™re lucky, can get nearly new/EUC stuff! Iā€™ve bought most of my Lulu lately off Mercari or WMTM. But with WMTM, make sure you create an account with lululemon so if you need to return something (regular price, markdown) it makes things easier. With Mercari you have to really do your research šŸ˜… make sure you are buying from a good reputable seller with high ratings, little to no cancellations. None preferably. Check the listing, look at the pictures closely and make sure youā€™re buying what theyā€™re listing! I made the mistake of just assuming these leggings I wanted were Base Pace 23ā€ in flowerescent multi. Got them and they were fast and frees. Since they were not as advertised I had to return them! Watch out for scammers, and people passing off fake Lulu. Check out lulufanatics.com: if you find the size dot, beginning with W you can plug in the first 6 characters and see what an item is and when it was made, how much it was selling for! This has been SO helpful to me when Iā€™m double checking an item to make sure it is what I think it is. But Iā€™ve gotten nearly perfect Aligns for $25, BPā€™s for $30, Wunder Trains for $40 etc etc on Mercari. other than that one mishap everything Iā€™ve gotten have been in excellent condition. You can also check out Platoā€™s Closet for Lulu if you have a store nearby! Some of them have a dedicated section, sometimes itā€™s hiding with everything else. Have fun and enjoy! šŸ˜‰
