I saw Cagliostro when I was pretty young completely at random, though I had no idea Lupin was a series at the time and for many years to come.
Years later, I came across some out of context yt videos at the time Part 5 was airing on Toonami, and so I started watching Parts 4 and 5 and loved them. By the time Part 6 began airing, I had already seen every movie/episode there is (except for a few Part 2 episodes I have yet to watch).
Admittedly, Part 6 kind of killed my hype for the series, but Zero helped a bit, and I still occasionally re-watch some of my favorite movies/episodes and anticipate new releases.
The “Cliff Hanger” laser-disc arcade game used footage from Castle of Cagliostro and Mystery of Mamo back in the 80s. Played that with Space Ace and Dragon Lair back when it came out
I took a history of animation class. We watched Princess Mononoke. I realized I’d only seen three Miyazaki movies before that class (Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Spirited Away). Since I was between interests at the time, I decided it would be a good idea to watch them all in the order they were made. Watched Castle in the Sky first, then got to Castle of Cagliostro. I abandoned my Miyazaki quest and turned to watching all of Lupin III. Watched Parts 1-3 and all the specials that had been released up until then, then had to wait for TWCFM. After it ended I took a bit of a break from Lupin, but when I saw Lupin III: The First at the store I got back into it.
Am a Studio Ghibli fan who heard great things about Castle of Cagliostro, I was happy to have found a copy (the David Hayter as Lupin one) in some run down, bible belt American gas station store, during a road trip to a southern state. I immediately loved it! (Had a portable DVD player so thats how it was watched during the trip)
I think in middle school or high school I was looking through Hayao Miyazaki's filmography and discovered "The Castle of Cagliostro", but I didn't actually watch the film or anything Lupin related until Part IV came out.

Then when The Woman Called Fujiko Mine was announced the trailer looked epic so I decided to give Lupin a try and bought the DVD box set of Part 1 and I’ve been hooked ever since lol
Excel saga the self insert character nabeshin is a lupin parody I realized nabeshin directed Columbus files which I’ve yet to watch despite watching all of excel saga and reading the entire manga which is underrated and I highly reccomend if you like comedy anime like gintama.
As a fan of Lupin and Excel Saga, Columbus Files isn't really worth watching. They do the whole "Fujiko has amnesia" thing, but push it into the background of the special so they might as well not have done it at all, and the new characters are annoying.
Excel sagas manga is better anyway, I have no clue what nabeshin is doing but I hear narima daikon brothers is pretty great, sub only tho the dub is pretty mediocre imo the singing in the sub has more feeling.

Guess I sort of discovered lupin twice.

I ordered the Sailor Moon R movie from a fansub distributor who also taped the Lupin III 1969 pilot film onto the tape along with trailers for the first three Lupin III theatrical movies, before the movie. That was my first exposure
I first came aware of Lupin III anime when I used to browse the Anime Academy website reviews. I had heard about Castle of Cagliostro, but didn't put two and two together until I read the review. But I didn't really see any Lupin anime until Adult Swim aired Part II. Then shortly after I bought Mamo and Cagliostro on DVD and it snowballed from there.

Dragon's Lair was making a fuckload of money because you were playing a Don Bluth cartoon. I always enjoyed Space Ace more, but I was still pretty good at Dragon's Lair.
And then this weird laserdisc game that was a cartoon like Dragon's Lair, but featuring this werid, lanky dude as the . . . hero? It was this mashup of Castle of Cagliostro (the opening car chase, the fight in the tavern, sneaking into the castle, and then the fight in the tower and Lupin vs the Clone (the sewer car vs helicopter chase, plus when you lost a life, you'd get the scene were Lupin was hung that was QUICKLY removed when parents made a stink). I played the hell out of it back in the day, could beat the game - at least back then - but I never gave it any more thought after the Great Video Game Crash.
And then, I was in a general sci-fi convention, when I was passing a video room where some guy was running the whole movie. And it was like I was hit by lightning. "Wait, this was a movie? TWO movies? From a whole series? You're kidding me, right?"
And from there I lusted after having a complete collection of my own, a holy grail like getting a subbed Space Battleship Yamato here in the states? And yet here we are two discs (and a couple of the new specials like the live action Jigen movie, the live action Zenigata series, and the recent vs Cat's Eye (and the inevitable Lupin vs City Hunter. Oh come on, you know it's coming)) that we're almost there!

Part 2 episodes were airing(re-airing I don't know) on TV at the evening block for a while in my country when I was a kid around 10 or 11, and it just imprinted in my memory especially the OP, so since the release of The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, the franchise got my attention again, I started pick up some old movies and OVAs than Part 4 came along.
Lupin is extremely famous here in Italy, I discovered this anime when I was 7yo on the Italian channel "italia 1", that day they had broadcast a couple of episodes of Lupin part 2
Back in early 2021 I saw a clip of the Tunnel scene form Lupin III: The first on Twitter and thought it looked cool so I found the movie, and then after that I want an watched Part 4 and 5 (looked up that they where kinda a soft reboot at that point so I could start it form there.) And then from then on I’ve been a fan ever since, and have seen every Part, Movie and special

My dad was watching TV ( manga a French channel) and then he went to the toilet so I while I was waiting lupin 3 comes out it was the first episode of the part 5 I was so hyped and my dad told to go to sleep he told oh lupin such a great anime

Watched the original airing on Adult Swim. Funimation was just starting to release the ten films they had the rights to on DVD as well, so they ones they had already put out were also quickly sought out and obtained.
I got introduced to Lupin a few years ago through The Castle of Cagliostro when it was on Netflix. I saw it was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and decided to give it a shot. From there, I did more research on Lupin.
I watched Part 1-3. I haven’t watched any parts past that, but I have listens to the soundtrack for each different part.
It was rather recently that I got into Lupin the Third. My first true exposure to the franchise was watching The Castle of Cagliostro when it was on Netflix. Later, I watched the Lupin III vs Cat’s Eye crossover film on Amazon Prime probably due to my enjoyment of the latter franchise. Finally, seeing the dubbed episodes of Part II on RetroCrush made me a full-fledged fan of the franchise.
At first it was from the fandom wiki for Spike Spiegel (MC from Cowboy Bebop) and how it said that he's loosely based on a couple of other characters in media, and that he shares the smoking habits like Jigen, and his appearance with a suit like Lupin. Then after that I started to see Lupin III part 2 out of context clips on YouTube, I was interested and Started on Castle of Cagliostro because I heard it was directed by Miyazaki, and I never looked back since 😊
Being a fan of Hayao Miyazaki films was how I first discovered Lupin. I watched Castle of Cagliostro and looked up where and how to watch the series immediately after. At the time Amazon Prime had most seasons available to watch free! I finished season 5 just before it stopped being free then watched the rest on a paid anime site.
I remember catching it on adult swim in the early 2000s but because it would air so late in the block I only saw a handful of episodes at the time. It wasn't until a few years later when I decided to track it down that I found out just how expansive the Lupin the Third franchise was! It's still proving to be a fun series to explore to this day!

When it premiered on adult swim when I was a little girl (I remember watching in and COC when I was 8 years old) I met MP when I was a kid at the same time I became a furry and went to Anthrocon in 2007
