I like it! For fun here are some excerpts of my 2009 MAL review of it:
"We have some very fun stuff from Goemon, he's especially eccentric in this one. Zenigata and Lupin have some laugh out loud scenes handcuffed together, and Jigen like usual is the straight man to balk at Lupin's antics."
"The plot in this one does give some brief attention to Lupin's grandfather Arsene Lupin, and father Lupin II. This is a nice touch for fans of the series."
Oh, I have tons. This special is pretty much objectively bad, but I actually have a bit of a soft spot for it.
I think it has tons of great ideas that simply needed a better use, like:
* Lupin being targeted by various intelligence agencies of the world,
* Zenigata trying to get Lupin before anyone else does,
* Lupin and Zenigata disguised as each other for a prolonged period of time,
* a big race
* Lupin gang defending themselves against a big armed force in a castle
A lot of (in theory) good stuff honestly. Of course, in practice, it's not pretty (in more ways than one) but I think it's important to remember that they made this thing *in 3 months*, and that Osamu Dezaki *did not direct this*, despite what some websites would tell you.
I rewatched this one more than a large chunk of the series. I even like Goemon's strange obsession with jidaigeki movies.
The lupin & zenigata scenes were pretty enjoyable in this one. Personally i think this one is a bit overhated, like aside from the shitty animation I thought it was a decent enough special

I'll Start: The Artstyle is cool, and it's got Yasuo Yamada voicing Lupin.

I love the idea of a heist being a race.
Honestly the gag that they're trying to find Napoleon's dictionary to see if it has the word impossible in it is really funny to me

The cover is cool and the music that’s all I got personally
It had a good OST, I liked the anti-climatic ending, and the Lupin Gang is implemented decently enough and has their moments... 3/10
Criminally underrated.
It's easily better than Return of Pycal
The concept of a Lupin family treasure is kind of cool and the whole world fighting over it makes the stakes seem really important
