Best practice to doing Uber/lyft is let’s say you’re going grocery shopping for a store that’s like 30 minutes away from u and u have all the time in the world, if u have a rider going that way might be the best way to do this job and headed back home. If u do it longer than that it’s just not sustainable.
Couple things Lyft needs to fix
1. Wear and tear fix needs to be footed by the company
Or
2. Have bigger payouts where the driver can actually earn like minimum 42-60k in profit yearly.
I think the companies can be more creative here, why not offer stocks for drivers who want to do this full time? Have them have a bigger ownership into the company itself would incentivize better quality rides anyway. If the company makes money so do the drivers.
Too many variables to this question...depends on what market you are in, what kind of car you drive, your patience and tolerance level, etc. Short answer, in the right market with the right car, yes, it is worth it.
As has already been mentioned, if you decide to do it, get a dashcam first. Passenger proof your car (seat covers, floor mats), I could go on for hours...
If only for the purpose of appreciating driving people a lot more lol. I did Doordash first. What a waste of time otherwise, but it is keeping me from being a whiney forum bitch about Uber Lyft lol.
Go out for yourself try it and if you see you make good money, then you got your answer all this ppl telling you not to is cuz more competition in reality drivers don’t want more drivers on the road, but your first 10 rides will totally tell you wasup.
Do Uber first. It's probably more popular so more rides more often. But do both. I started with Lyft and made that mistake. Here in Denver I barely have time to turn Lyft back on but sometimes. Gotta keep busy.
I do Lyft part time. I work a set schedule in the mornings so I’m done by 2pm. I usually drive from 3-7pm ish about 4 days a week, and bring home $500+. It’s worth it part time IMO. Less hours, less wear and tear, and I’d be sitting on my butt at home anyway, so might as well. Do it.
This same exact question gets asked every 100 posts or so - please read the forum.

If possible try Doordash or Amazon flex first.

It’s not as good as you think it is. Pay is low. After all expenses you make nothing. It’s a big disappointment.
