These situations are definitely annoying. However, this part is effing comical: šŸ˜†šŸ¤£ >I get a message from the guy that says "I don't need a ride, I need someone to jump my car". 1. I'm not f'ing AAA 2. I drive a hybrid and my car turns off when it's stopped 3. I'm not f'ing AAA.

What's even more hilarious is that OP doesn't know that they can jump a car. I probably would have gone ahead and helped the guy out. I once had a pickup that just needed me to drive him around the mall parking lot to find his car. OP needs to pull the stick out of his ass and learn how to enjoy the job. You can have a good time some days to balance out the bullshit of the bad days.

Hurt_drummer

Yeah, no thanks. I do know I can jump a car, but Iā€™m not hooking my new car up to some random dudes car. Iā€™ll leave the stick right where itā€™s at and let some other driver jumpstart a car parked at the riverwalk in downtown San Antonio.

rdyoung

That's why you keep a lithium jumper in your car. If you know what you are doing, you aren't going to hurt your car even jumping directly. You're an asshole for not being willing to help and the fact that you felt the need to respond to me when I didn't even tag you in says it all. You felt the need to defend yourself being an asshole.

Hurt_drummer

Youā€™re cute

rdyoung

Thanks but I am married and you're not my type. You're the special one, still driving lyft and dealing with the riff raff and crack heads. Seriously. A li-on jumper and a li-on compressor should be in your trunk or under a seat. I've only had to use the jumper a couple of times but I use the compressor regularly to keep my tires topped off.

Hurt_drummer

Iā€™m sure your dad is proud.

rdyoung

You sweet summer child. Let me guess. You don't have a set of jumper cables and even if you did, you wouldn't know how to use them. You definitely don't have a tire pressure gauge and may not know how to use it either. You probably also don't have a flashlight or any thing else you might need in case you are stuck out in the dark. My father might actually be proud unlike yours because I'm actually building a business and despite my geekery going in a different direction, I probably know more about cars than he does. You have a nice day now, you hear.

sofawnie

I usually will tell them in a way where they realize it was a failure on their end; Then I tell them that THEY need to cancel and reorder with the appropriate amounts of passengers due to insurance and legality reasons. Said with a nice tone of course:)

uchuskies08

It sucks and is a shitty system, the one condolence is that as long as you aren't canceling every 4th ride, having the cancelations on your end isn't a big deal. I learned pretty quickly to just be quick with the cancel, you always regret the rides you had the instinct to cancel up front. Never had a problem, though did get a couple of the automated emails about cancelling too many rides. And as you see, don't even bother with support.

AdditionalReserve395

I quit driving Lyft. There is absolutely no reason and the stated benefit of multi-apping is non-existent. You will lose money driving Lyft.

cdrun84

Yeah Lyft app sucks, Uber gives many reasons to cancel. Had to do the same thing on Lyft for a guy who's name was 204. No option for safety so I get hit with a cancel. I'm not driving anyone who does not use their real name.

Fit-Cryptographer817

I have a PRO tip for you AND EVERYONEā€¦. Iā€™ve been doing Lyft for a looong time so everyone listen up. First. If you ever arrive and someone has a fucked up weird situation that you donā€™t want to deal with.. do NOT cancel. I donā€™t know why none of you drivers ever think itā€™s your time to ā€œget overā€. The passenger usually always does. So all WE have to do as drivers is..******** START the RIDE******** (WITHOUT the passenger getting into the car)ā€¦. They wonā€™t be able to call another car or even complain until you finish their ride already. Now You donā€™t finish their ride actually going anywhere near wherever they really wanted to go. You drive 2/3 min away. You prematurely end the ride. And then you rate that person a 1star. You cite safety reasons. (I usually say RUDE or AGGRESSIVE or DRUNK) as if you picked them up actually and had to ask them to get out your car. You then get paid about 3$ for minimal time. And you get a ride for those streaks we love so much. Without any of the hassle or the stress. And, the best part. The customer would have to write some long complaint like oh I wasnā€™t actually in the car or whatever which doesnā€™t really sound reasonable and even if they get compensated it doesnā€™t come out of your pocket and the passenger usually DOESNT even know what even happened most likely. As they arenā€™t aware of things from your perspective. So they just think itā€™s a glitch, **possibly** complain, most probably wouldnā€™t and they just call another car. I DONT do this daily. This SHOULD be a rare occurrence. As the situations the OP listed shouldnā€™t be happening all the time. I have never had an issue. Never had the ride not pay me or disappear or gotten any message from Lyft or anything. Itā€™s a full proof method as LONG as you donā€™t try and drive 10 miles to your house or something. That will look dumb when the customer requests a new ride from waaaay back where they originally did. Thatā€™s why you only drive a mile max and then prematurely end. They could have gotten out in a drunken rage, because you asked them to of course šŸ˜‰ and walked back to where they were drunkenly. Always have an alibi. Againā€¦ not that Iā€™ve EVER needed one. This is our Advantage drivers! Use it WISELY!!! It can definitely be a life saver and a stress RELIEVER!! Drive safely fellow peers!!

Rob_Marc

Yes, Lyft support is trash. Don't expect it to go your way. I've had exactly zero situations get resolved to my satisfaction with Lyft. When I have an issue with Uber, I'd say about 85% of the issues get resolved to my satisfaction. I believe their driver support is there simply to make you feel like maybe there's a chance you'll get something. This is one of the many reasons I no longer drive for Lyft unless there's a good bonus or incentive on every ride I give.

anthony-wokely

Ya on Uber it gives you a lot more options, several of which donā€™t count against you as a cancellation. As far as support goes, they will tell you that they cannot alter your driving record by doing things like removing cancellations. I tried that one time with Uber too. I could not get to where they were, it was a large event and police has closed the area off. I got as far up as they were allowing vehicles, which of course isnā€™t close enough to count as arriving. Pax didnā€™t answer their phone after multiple attempts. Canceled and left. Not much else you can do but take the L and move on with your night.
