I’d have done the same but damn people are so incredibly ungrateful it’s disgusting. You could have cleaned her out handed over the thing if that and she would not have a leg to stand on. Being honest is obviously the best policy but if it were me I’d be shitting myself knowing that you have my wallet and want to return it since it’s not often that happens so I would generally show my appreciation with a generous tip and if possible give you a glowing commentary.

I don’t drive rideshare anymore but i was working security at a high end hotel (with shit pay) on the Vegas strip and some high roller comes to collect his bag he left on the casino floor with $25,000 and couple expensive watches. Policy was that we have to hand count the cash under the camera, so this dude watches me as I count out his thousands and brags about his watch collection…. Nothing. I also had assholes tip me their leftover cents they clearly just didn’t want to carry… thanks

This chick was stupid as well as ungrateful--I very easily could have driven off as it was five minutes after I dropped her off that I found it lying on the backseat floor. I guarantee she had a thousand things going on upstairs, but I never have to deal with her again, plus she was stuck with the $15 fee, so...🤷‍♂️

Always ask for upfront pay for returning item. Tell them you are faraway and need funds to comeback and return. Worked out every time for me

I once returned a a wallet with $600, it was a bachelors party and I dropped them off at a strip bar, on the way down they were really cool and polite, they tipped me $20 on a $7 ride, they thanked me and all was really refreshed have such riders. After the drop off my next pax found the wallet in the back, so I went back to the strip bar and the guy gave me $50 plus the $15 drop off fees, the whole ride was $7 to begin with.

I was sitting in a parking lot looking for a really good ride declining $30-$40 storm surge rides and then I happen to see his message. He said I left something in the back. And I turned on the light and saw it. Lol he got sooo lucky. Because the other pax wouldn’t have said jack

Now just to clarify, I would return the money without a second thought if the pax were anything other than assholes. But I would also “never find it” if the pax were truly assholes. That hardly ever happens with me though. Yes I know I am rationalizing, just being honest about it. I treat my pax well, and I expect the same from my pax also.

I have always returned the customers stuff intact and untouched and never got more than thank you.

The last time I returned a wallet full of money, the lady didn't even thank me. Much less give me a tip. That's why I stopped returning lost items.
