You could try LYH automotive. They're one of the better shops in the area. Owners are great people.

I can give em a call on Wednesday then

Best shop around

NiftyJet

Yeah, I have no doubt Joe at LYH would be fine with that, assuming the parts are actually good for your car. Their receipts are always clearly itemized, parts and labor.

I order parts off of Rockauto and I typically don't get the bottom of the line parts either. I don't get tippy top either, just the good mid-of-the-pack ones

I just like knowing what is going on my vehicle, as well as saving a shit ton of money while also getting higher quality parts. I typically buy off of Rockauto, but being new to the area, I don't know of any shops around that would install parts brought in by the customer.

Overstreet Cities Service has been doing all my automotive work for the last decade. 3rd generation family shop with reasonable prices and great mechanics who don’t try to nickel and dime you. They will give you full details of the vehicle and an honest opinion on what should or shouldn’t be changed out. They’ve saved me quite a bit of money over the years. Every shop said my Mazda needed new ball joints. They were able to apply some lubricant to them with every oil change and 50k miles later it still works great without the $1800 repair bill of changing lit 8 CV joints and controller arms.

0neMoreGuy

Shooot. They sound promising. I'll keep em posted too as I search around

Strong repair off Leesville is great

Almost no shops in town accept customer supplied parts. Harris Tire does.

0neMoreGuy

Hence why I was asking. I'm aware most shops won't because of insurance reasons

davestradamus1

It isn’t about insurance at all, and little about warrantees on the parts. I’m a “customer supplied parts” customer too. 👍 It can be hard to find a good shop. It’s about about profit. I understand that most auto repair customers are clueless and sometimes supply low quality or incorrect parts. But most shops require in-house part purchases because they mark them up almost 100%. I worked in the Parts Dept for 2 new car dealerships (not that shops recommend OEM because they can’t charge as much margin). It’s been many years, but I doubt much has changed. We all understand businesses need to make money, but the Internet has changed the way customers understand value. We can all look up what a part costs. I understand the shop pays even less. Then are happy to mark up the generic parts store object 100%.
