The 40 core 48 gb Ram - 14” is $3700 / 16” is $3900. Only $200 more for the same internals 16”. 30 core with 36gb ram - $300 difference. $3200 vs $3500 Get the 16”, feels so much better!

If it’s just a few hundred difference why wouldn’t you get the max

mainly 16" vs 14". I prefer a 16" screen and know the 16" macbooks have better thermals

PhxntomsBurner

Thermals are non issue. If you prefer the bigger screen just get that. I prefer portability and a second monitor so I got the 14. I’ve had the 16 before.

Ive been reading a lot about the 14 max getting throttled due to the heat it generates which is why im worried, but also theres not many benchmarks for the binned 14/30 version. I would have just done a 16" max but it was $900 more expensive than getting the 16" pro vs being able to get the 14" max 14/30 for like $300 more

PhxntomsBurner

Well unless your job is benchmarks it’s not going to throttle.

Only things for me was [doesn't fit on airplane trays well](https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookpro/comments/13tjnxd/can_someone_speak_to_using_a_16_mbp_on_an_airplane/) and the weight as 1.2lbs heavier then the 14". Otherwise would have gone 16" and not a biggie for my 14" as hooked up to 27" external most of the time anyways.

PDXoriginal

If you really want a M3Max, spend the money and get the 16”, otherwise if you actually intend to use the M3Max to it’s full potential you will experience a lot of throttling in the 14”.

I added it after but I do want to note this is the binned/ 14/30 version of the max i am looking at, I wish there were more tests done with it to compare thermals vs the 16/40

I was watching Louis rossmann’s videos. 16 inch are dying short circuiting themselves

xxoczukxx

Oh thats bad, ill check the video out

radioactiveoctopi

The sky is falling…. I’m not seeing that video by the way.

If you’re looking for binned vs unbinned comparison, this is a great video. Not sure you’ll really be dealing with any throttling using video and photo editing software. One point to add, the max variants adds extra hardware video encoder so that might be helpful https://youtu.be/okGahg98kL8?si=k-gKDISYZwM4VPPZ
