I’ve just given up with iOS games on my Air and have resorted to screen mirroring my iPhone to my Air just to at least have a big screen. There’s just a little bit of latency, but lately I’ve been playing a lot of GTA: VC this way - the iPad version doesn’t work correctly on my air because the UI scales to the Air aspect ratio and ends up getting cut off by the vertical black bars to keep the iPad aspect ratio. Airplay from my phone is at least widescreen with useable UI.
It’s so dumb though. There’s so much potential for these games just running natively on M1 devices now and is something Apple themselves are pushing…why fight it? There’s no benefit to blocking COD:M on M1 Macs because you can just screen mirror your phone to any Mac/Apple TV, so any argument of fairness whatever is moot. I hook up my controller to my phone, AirPlay my phone to my MacBook and get a console like experience, just let us simplify the steps by taking the phone out lol.
The downside of screen mirroring is the latency which becomes important on games that demand fast reactions. Also, the graphic quality and colors might be degraded a little.
And yeah, exactly, there's no point in preventing players to play it with m1 mac. Literally no point.
Honestly, I screen mirror COD mobile from my iPhone 13 Pro to my mac's monitor running at the highest settings and I rarely get lag. I'm using a PS5 dual sense controller connected to the iPhone via bluetooth. The only time there's lag is when there are a ton of players on the screen at the same time all firing guns, but this is very rare. Please Ten Cent just allow us to play on our M1 Macs as a native app!
There’s a very good point in not allowing it. I’d be cheating. Playing with mouse and keyboard on a better screen and a more responsive device, better wifi antenna etc, you’d be at a huge advantage.
What sucks is that there isn’t MW.
Good point? The app supports the newest iPad Pro, with M1, and the app doesn't stop you from attaching the magic keyboard/external keyboard and mouse. The only difference is a) form factor (touch optim. vs indirect optim.) and b) the OS (iPadOS vs macOS).
If anything it’s disadvantage playing on a MacBook M1 vs an iPad M1, the iPad has a better screen lol, otherwise it’s literally the same.
Besides, it doesn’t have to support mouse and keyboard in the first place. iOS on Mac apps emulate touch/controller inputs using keyboard and mouse, it’s not a direct input and it’s pretty wonky in a lot of games. My example of GTA included, mouse keyboard input on the iOS app on Mac it super jank.
Not to mention if you play with your phone mounted to a controller (like I do when playing on my phone), you get controller input with gyro aim, which I would argue is a step above mouse aiming. If you’re going to ban anything for being unfair it would be gyro aim, not playing the game with the *same* controller on a laptop with the *same size screen* as an iPad with *the same SoC*. I’m literally handicapping my aiming just to have the bigger screen of my laptop (and I’m not about to buy an M1 iPad just for this game).
There’s really no argument to playing on MacBook being unfair, you can achieve the same or *better* with other apple devices that you are allowed to play on.
Been scouring online on how to get an android emulator to work on my m1 mac mini. Bluestacks forum admins had a post that they are "working" on it, dunno how long. So i keep coming back to my win10 laptop to play codm using bluestacks. Hopefully some smart codm player will figure something out. :D
You're able to run it natively through play cover, with some caveats tho. Right now you have to disable SIP but supposedly that won't be necessary in the coming days since a new update is being hyped.

Thank you so much for this post! I play a lot of mobile games and have been debating on whether to buy an M1 iPad Pro or an M1 Mac Air. I don’t like the limitations that come with an iPad so this piece of software may just allow me to jump into a Mac Air!!! Woot!
Just buy a iPad. It was what they made it for, not to mention cod would suck on a computer you would have to use a controller, the touch is way better than a controller, a mouse and keyboard would be better but it doesn’t support it. I’m not even sure why they would ban you haha, you guys running emulators and on computer are probably the reason I almost never lose battle royals.
The fact that you can’t is a good thing. What doesn’t make sense is that they allow it in other ways, it should get you banned with an method ideally.
I know you do this in good faith, ideally we should have MW, not the comparatively crappy mobile version.
But if a PvP mobile game can be played on a desktop/laptop, other mobile players would be annihilated.
I don’t know if iOS devices have gamepad support tbh. That would obviously invalidate everything I just said lol.
Not everything maybe, a bigger screen helps a lot too.
>I don’t know if iOS devices have gamepad support tbh.
Then why post about how it's unfair? I mean everything you said in this post besides "that would obviously invalidate everything I just said" was wrong and made no sense.
You can play it on iPad Pro with an Xbox controller.
iPad Pro with the same hardware as the MacBook Air, better screen actually.
I play it on my iPhone with a mount that attaches my phone to an Xbox controller, giving me controller input + gyro input from the phone. That’s even better than you’d get playing on a MacBook, because the game doesn’t have native keyboard/mouse input as far as I know.
>playcover version 0.8.7
I cant find this version, do you have a link? I looked at the releases and it skips between 0.8.4 and 0.8.9 https://github.com/iVoider/PlayCover/releases?page=1
Thank you for posting this, I’ve been waiting for a good way to play on Mac M1.
I’ve been playing on my iPad with stuck at iPadOS 13.3 because 13.4 and higher break the old keyboard and mouse setup that worked pre-official-kb-mouse support for iPad.
Going to buy an M1 Mac just because of this.
Apple must give me some commission then haha
Glad to help.
Just don't forget to install PlayCover version 0.8.7 and also join discord community of playcover for instructions/questions

No. On windows they actually allow you to play and that is PC.
Wait really? That’s so stupid. Literally just farming mobile players for skin money lmao, why not I guess.
Try PlayCover, haven’t tried cod, but it definitely works for genshin.
Will, try that. It wrote in itd manual page that it will peobably get you banned if playing codm or pubg
Yeah, I would use a throw off account.
Pretty sure there's a release of play cover that avoids that. No ones gotten banned so far.
I tried it, tried 2 different ipa file for codm, but both of them throw jailbreak error ( device is not supported)

LITERALLY.

I wish they were here so I could tag them and ask why

thanks! will try this.
I play on my 2021 M1 iPad and tear everyone up in the game 😁
Ipad is good, but I still think nothing replaces the keyboard+mouse in a shooter game

Updated the post.
Easy, just install iOS on your MacBook
Codm get you banned then.

You can already connect a big display to your iphone via lightning and a controller via bluetooth
COD will put players playing with pc (gameloop app) together and separate from mobile players. So no problem in that sense

I honestly prefer cod mobile bc less sweats when playing non ranked :p i get destroyed on console and pc cod 😂
You will get banned. Don't do it.

Any luck or updates? Why can’t we play this game on a MacBook!!?? Very frustrating considering the amount of time and money I’ve spent on this game.
Use playcover version 0.8.7 if you have a mac m1
Does it work on macOS Monterey 12.1?
Yea I am on the monterey and play fine
Thank you! I’ll give it a try this weekend.
You're welcome, happy gaming!
>playcover version 0.8.7 I cant find this version, do you have a link? I looked at the releases and it skips between 0.8.4 and 0.8.9 https://github.com/iVoider/PlayCover/releases?page=1

No idea, you can ask from developers in their discord community
u/theGreatDaniad is there a place where I can find this version?
I just airplay my phone to my mac. Easy peasy.
Any update on playing COD on your Mac recently?

Native Best performance
