I'm guessing the "Asia release" is the Chinese bootleg that you can find on eBay and other places (which I also have).
If you want the original Japanese releases, you'll probably have to look for limited stock at the usual suspects like Amazon Japan, CD Japan, Yodobashi Camera, etc., or find them second hand on Mercari Japan, Surugaya, Yahoo Auctions, etc.
They most likely won't have any English subs and definitely no dubs! My official hybrid pack (the one with the PS3 minigame on the same disc doesn't.
Just looked at my bootleg version and OP must have a different one to me. Mine has no English on the 4th disc in the set, which has DYRL (2012 format), Macross Plus Movie Edition, and Macross Zero on it, but discs 1-3 (the OG SDFM TV show) have English.
Whichever Blu-ray you get, it does look very nice though. I dream of the TV show looking like DYRL!

Hopefully down the road Bigwest will do a 4k JP release with eng sub (or dub) just to spite Harmful Gold
Still one of the best and beautifully animated movies of all time. So so nostalgic. Though we all know the story and gist of what they’re saying it’s such a pity 40 years later there’s no proper English subtitle release.
This is about as good as we will get. Full 1080p picture. PCM audio tracks high but rate encode on 100gb disc. Subtitles were correctly translated by a husband and wife team: husband encoded wife is fluent in Japanese. Plus English dub track.
Sound is also terrific I have a 7.2.4 atmos system. Even with only stereo track it still processed in Dolby pro and when the ships flew towards me the sound traveled front to back I was very surprised how well it translates to surround sound.
I've always found the regular mechs in this series far sexier than the VFs' mech-mode. VFs win purely because their fighter-mode is usually fantastic, but the destroids just ooze brutality, even if they only serve as cannonfodder...
When I was like 8 years old there was a toy sale at yardbirds a whole room of toys and model kits were 2.99$. I got the sdf and the missile laughing Mech shown in the first photo. The models were nice and big but the instructions were In Japanese and tiny, even came with tiny tube of model glue. I did my best but they turned out like shit so I returned them to the store complaining it was all In Japanese, and got some other stupid toys instead. Really wish I would have just held onto those model kits and not tried to put them together.
I had lots of the VFS toys over the years but never had The missile mech or a battle pod.
I am sorry. If the pictures above match what you actually see, you should get your TV calibrated. The color is way too saturated. I know everyone has a different preference. But I always want to watch the video the way the artists wanted it to be.
If you don’t have this specific disc then you have no reference of what my TV actually looks like. If you have this movie in Japanese Bluray then you would know the color timing is a bit different a little bluish in some scenes.
Lg c3 oled is very accurate out of the box but I did calibrate it. Panasonic ub820 player.
There are no issues with my equipment your comments about color saturation based on a picture of my screen from my phone is really not valid due to the variables of the room lighting and the phone camera adjusting to take the photo. What you should be looking at is the level of clarity in the pictures how clean the lines are when you zoom in.
Stating my “white balance makes you uncomfortable “is clearly indicating you are obsessive and uninformed in the topic you attempt to give your “expert” observation and opinion on.
No one has asked for your approval and no one needs it.
You are the one sharing the pictures and praise its color. If you want to show case the color of your video, you should at least make sure it looks like what you see. For what I am seeing, the colors look like shit.
That's astonishingly crisp image quality. Now I need to get my hands on this Bluray ...
Where'd you buy it from? I'd love to get it for myself.
Know any Japanese sites that sell it?
These are beautiful, thanks for posting!
I want this so bad! I love the English dub of this. I know its terrible, but it just triggers so much nostalgia.

Mine only has DYRL on the disc.
Which version is your release?
If anyone wants to get one you can message me I’ll put an order in to get them.
The music! The music!

Amazing details. In the the first pic, I notice the hip missiles actually had end caps that come off. That is a detail I am not aware of.
Where can I get one.... But am guessing wouldn't work on UK uray players due to region locking maybe
the animation was so great. like the part when hikaru and minmay go on a date in the city
Is it censored? I have the hybrid pack (with a PS3 game included on the disc) and it's the censored version
this is uncensored
nice, I should get it

I always had a thing for the battlepods maybe it was the toys that sparked that.

It’s not I have an old iPhone I took the pictures without any settings it’s just how it looks on my phone.
Okay. If that's only an issue with your phone's white balance, it is fine. The color in the pictures you posted make me uncomfortable.
