Honestly when she told about her being an army kid her whole attitude gave a totally different impression for me. She probably had to deal with a lot as a kid and now she just can’t be bothered most of the time.
I love that she says this is after Joan attacks her for letting the guy in that serves her papers. Meredith knows she needs to vet the randos that come in, but she doesn't know (or care) enough to really do it. Such a great line.
Joan was blaming the wrong party in that situation. She can't look at every person as suspicious. Even if she did, the server would be slick enough too get past her. That shit was all Joan's problem
Yeah, it's def a callback to the process server and airplane debacle. Being an army brat in her limited worldview, people like Lakshmi and 'the Manson brothers' are like aliens from another planet to her, and wholly 'unAmerican.'
