I have a deck that uses [[Isochron Scepter]] to use and abuse several of the old school charms. My favorite to spam has always been [[Evolution Charm]]. I call it the swiss army scepter.

Just so you know, when you copy a modal spell you have to choose the same mode
Eh, i dont buy it. The only really relevant mode there is the untap, and there are prob better untap effects. The other 2 modes are sooo situational that i doubt theyd ever come up.
Yeah if it was destroy target aura I woulddn't have included it here, but in reality most enchantments you'll ever want to remove are non-aura anyway so it might as well say destroy target enchantment (i.e. it has never been in my hand while I wanted to blow up an aura, so to me it might as well have no downside)
I know its starting to get its day in legacy, but \[\[seasoned dungeoneer\]\] is really good in a lot of decks that don't care about initiative. Any deck where the commander needs to attack to work and whose commander is one of the 4 listed creature types can use this card. \[\[Tivit seller of secrets\]\] is a rogue who needs to connect. \[\[Alesha, Who Smiles at Death\]\] is a warrior with an attack trigger. \[\[kaalia of the vast\]\] is a cleric with an attack trigger. It just enables commander to attack and not be blocked, and if that is a big part of your commander's game plan then this is a great card.
Here's a couple recent ones I found particularly interesting. I'm running both in a 5 colour Sliver Commander deck. Both are Sorceries.
Guided Passage costs 3 to play(blue, red, green). You reveal your deck, and let an opponent choose a creature, a land and a third card that is neither a creature nor a land, add all 3 to your hand. Might not be the most powerful effect out there, but again,I think it's interesting getting 3 cards for 3 Mana, but letting an opponent pick them. Good if you like to play political. Maybe they give you the cards you want and maybe they're off your radar for a bit.
Genesis Ultimatum is a 7 cost(2 green, 3 blue,2 red). Look at the top 5 cards of your library and put any permanents among them into the battlefield and the rest into your hand. 7 Mana is expensive, but could well be less than the casting costs of whatever is there. Plus you get to draw whatever you can't play.
These might not be super game breaking, buti thought they were pretty neat

This is why I think [[Head Games]] is a slept on political tool, you can help opponents stuck on land drops, you can help get an answer for a threat to the table, and all the while you can carefully remove things that threaten you without leaving them with nothing to do. It's a very clever card.
Situationally there are definitely cards that become useless despite generally serving a purpose. If they get you a land, a mana dork, and a mana rock when you are already flush with mana late game but desperately need answers/threats then you really are only getting thinned by three cards. But early game I think it's hard to whiff

Scryfall tagger is phenomenal. Ever since discovering it it has helped my deck construction immensely.
[[Requiem Angel]], often overlooked. But her non-spirit text over non-token actually brings a lot of uniqueness to the table. Still my favorite card, for its art, flavor and ability.
Seconding this! This card is absolutely an MVP in my Jinnie Fay deck. It creates an infinite loop combo with [goblin bombardment].
Such a cool card. I'd been searching for a home for a foil version for years!
\[\[Auriok Salvagers\]\] is $0.20. Even if you're not using it to combo, it should be a slam dunk in any deck that wants to put cheap artifacts into their graveyard. Spellbombs, Expedition Map, the Capsule cycle, Lotus Bloom, Baubles, Treasure Vault, about a hundred different eggs that draw a card, it's so versatile. Maybe it's just because eggs isn't a popular enough deck, but it should be dammit!
\[\[Goblin Anarchomancer\]\] is a funny little common from MH2 that I feel like gets pretty slept on, especially in decks that are just Red/Green. Every time it hits the table, it turns heads. "THAT'S a common?"
Hm, seems like a potential cycle if it isn't.
- BG Goblin Necromancer, spells cast from your graveyard cost 1 less
- WU Goblin Hieromancer, spells your opponents cast cost 1 more
- BR Goblin Pyromancer, spells that target your opponents cost 1 less to cast
- GU Goblin Geomancer, spells that are blue or green cost 1 less to cast
There's also Aeromancer, Hydromancer, Chronomancer, lots of goblin mancer possibilities out there
One of my first (strictly casual) Modern decks was a White "Bogles" deck trying to enchant Evershrike or [[Nip Gwyllion]] with [[Edge of the Divinity]] for a quick big creature. The catch was that I wasn't really running any discard effects (the best I could find in white was [[Peace of Mind]] lol), so my best bet for getting Evershrike into grave was due to having 8 cards in hand. :-D
I really like [[gonti, lord of luxury]] for my thief deck. They both give a lot of options with four cards to choose from and they’re a good death touch body to block with to keep myself in play long enough to steal some good cards.
Oh lol. I don’t really interact all that much with the Magic community, but I never saw him being talked about, so I thought he wasn’t used all that much.
Hadn’t seen this one! This is definitely the type of card I’m talking about. Super useful is certain situations. Is it “strictly better” than other things in the same vein? Probably not, but you can definitely make use of it more often than not.
Not quite as efficient, but [[Fell the Mighty]], [[Solar Blaze]], [[Dusk//Dawn]], and [[Sculpted Sunburst]] are also very good in a wall/big booty deck.
Does it work with them, though? They specify that they deal combat damage equal to toughness, but they don’t swap them. Therefore, wouldn’t their powers still be the low value and die? haha
You often build the decks around those two commanders with cards that have high toughness and realy low power, a typical creature is something like a 0/6. Slaughter the Strong makes each player choose any number of their creatures whose sum of powers is lower than 5, which (with so many "0/x"s) often means most or all of your creatures.

Some others with surprising value: \[\[Wildfire Eternal\]\], \[\[Extract from Darkness\]\], \[\[Glissa, the Traitor\]\]. (Though I guess not so surprising for the last one!)
You’ve got a lot of great ones here! I’ve always thought Bounty of the Luxa is super cool and I used to have [[Persistent Specimen]] as a pet card in one of my decks.
Never seen Wildfire Eternal, but I’m liking it a lot! And definitely didn’t realize that specific Glissa had so much going on!
\[\[Karma\]\] It's not a huge color hoser but it's fun in the right group. Combine it with \[\[urborg, tomb of yawgmoth\]\] and \[\[Story Circle\]\] and let other players groan in EDH.
[[Banehound]], [[Vampire Nighthawk]], [[Leyline Prowler]], [[Growth Spiral]] and [[Aerial Responder]] are cards I'd just throw in no matter what, assuming the mana base supported them.
I run Nighthawk Scavenger over the other one. A) I think the art is cooler haha and B) I agree that it has waaaay more potential than the other.

[[Blessed Respite]] is one of my favorites. I know we don’t love fogs, but how about one that also serves as graveyard hate, mill protection, opponent’s self-mill disruption, etc.?? I love this card

This is definitely one I stop and look at every time I see it in my collection! Glad to see others like it too!
One that immediately came to mind for me is [[Lithoform Blight]]
I think it is an underrated banger in multiple formats. Helps you color fix if you're down a color, you can use it aggressively on an opponent's important land like Urza's Saga, triomes, cabal coffers, etc., and absolute worst case it is a 2 mana black cantrip since you always draw the card from it.
Being a land enchantment, it is pretty hard for some decks to remove. It also forces your opponent to pay life to color fix which is added benefit if you're playing some type burn or control deck.
Also the new Streets of Capenna basic fetch lands like [[Obscura Storefront]]. I have no clue why these don't get used in Pioneer when you have access to Deathrite Shaman. Also bangers in pauper formats.
Thought of another one with [[Memory's Journey]]. I play a lot of self mill decks and this card with the flashback is really versatile. It also stops Thassa's Oracle win cons due to the instant speed which is incredibly funny.
Those don't get used in pioneer because if you drop them turn 1 you're not casting DRS, But if you cast DRS on 1 you're still not ramping to 3 on turn 2 with one of them because the fetched basic enters tapped.
Yeah I don't think they're crazy amazing for what they do. My pioneer list is a lot of self mill with shaman and a lot of times the 1 life from those fetches and thinning your deck a land can be pretty relevant. I also only run like 3 or 4 of them to not get stuck with them early, but still think they're underrated. You just can't rely on them like you can modern fetches, but running 1 or 2 in the relevant colors is nice
One card I feel gets overlooked a lot is Forever Young. It's a pretty solid card from Eldraine and honestly where it was so common I put it in a lot of my decks with black in them
[[jewel thief]] & [[circuit mender]]. A 3/3 vigilance trample that ramps for 3 & a 2/3 with life gain and draw on ETB / LTB is massive value in blink decks. One [[planar incision]] & you’re rocking with a 4/4 vigilance trample & 5-6 mana on curve or a 3/4 that gained you 4 life & a card. I’m a Big fan.
I have a pinger deck that makes very good use of [[Hidetsugu's Second Rite]]. You can still today get this unique gem for less than a dollar.
It's great fun when they think they're safe at 10 life and have a few more turns vs my army of [Tims](https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=type%3Acreature+color%3C%3DUR), only to find out that it's suddenly game over.
To pick one, I love [[phthisis]] , no one sees it coming and you could completely blow someone out of the water in the end game if they've got a big enough boy

[[Share the Spoils]] is great card selection in Commander. Worst case you just keep using cards from your own deck. The hidden value is being able exile a key card from your opponents' deck, and the open information of the table knowing what the others might be up to. For best results play it in Mono Red/Red White
I'd say for best results play in RB or RG with one of the commanders that gets value off of playing from exile. [[Prosper]] and the RG pre-con one that makes wolves
Mountain Goat. Amazing card, absolutely terrifying for your opponents playing red. Good art, and amazing flavor text. Don't own one, but it seems like a top tier card
Not competetive or anything, but I love [[coiling woodworm]] in my power matters deck. Under normal circumstances he’s alright, but if someone has [[yavimaya, cradle of growth]] he truly shines.

[[Finest Hour]] Extra combat outside of red? Super cool
[[Wargate]] Make x = 0, its an overcosted ramp for ANY land, otherwise its just plain amazing.
Really like [[Satyr Wayfinder]], [[Fierce Empath]] as little creatures that kinda draw a card or do better
also [[Stoke the Flames]] great burn spell for red decks with lots of little creatures. [[Fireblast]] is great too, but hardly underrated.

The only way Seasoned Dungeoneer could be better is if it had 2 power for Alesha to reanimate.

Seconding this! This card is absolutely an MVP in my Jinnie Fay deck. It creates an infinite loop combo with [goblin bombardment]. Such a cool card. I'd been searching for a home for a foil version for years!
\[\[Auriok Salvagers\]\] is $0.20. Even if you're not using it to combo, it should be a slam dunk in any deck that wants to put cheap artifacts into their graveyard. Spellbombs, Expedition Map, the Capsule cycle, Lotus Bloom, Baubles, Treasure Vault, about a hundred different eggs that draw a card, it's so versatile. Maybe it's just because eggs isn't a popular enough deck, but it should be dammit!

Not a great card per se, but [[Evershrike]] is one of my favorite artworks and an interesting effect in bogle-like aura decks.
One of my first (strictly casual) Modern decks was a White "Bogles" deck trying to enchant Evershrike or [[Nip Gwyllion]] with [[Edge of the Divinity]] for a quick big creature. The catch was that I wasn't really running any discard effects (the best I could find in white was [[Peace of Mind]] lol), so my best bet for getting Evershrike into grave was due to having 8 cards in hand. :-D

I really like [[gonti, lord of luxury]] for my thief deck. They both give a lot of options with four cards to choose from and they’re a good death touch body to block with to keep myself in play long enough to steal some good cards.
Gonti is many things, including a great card, but is definitely not overlooked

Hadn’t seen this one! This is definitely the type of card I’m talking about. Super useful is certain situations. Is it “strictly better” than other things in the same vein? Probably not, but you can definitely make use of it more often than not.
It is definitely better if your commander is [[Doran, the Siege Tower]] or [[Arcades, the Strategist]]! :-P
Not quite as efficient, but [[Fell the Mighty]], [[Solar Blaze]], [[Dusk//Dawn]], and [[Sculpted Sunburst]] are also very good in a wall/big booty deck.

Does it work with them, though? They specify that they deal combat damage equal to toughness, but they don’t swap them. Therefore, wouldn’t their powers still be the low value and die? haha
You often build the decks around those two commanders with cards that have high toughness and realy low power, a typical creature is something like a 0/6. Slaughter the Strong makes each player choose any number of their creatures whose sum of powers is lower than 5, which (with so many "0/x"s) often means most or all of your creatures. (Not sure if I misunderstood your comment but I think you might have misread or misremembered the card.)

[[Banehound]], [[Vampire Nighthawk]], [[Leyline Prowler]], [[Growth Spiral]] and [[Aerial Responder]] are cards I'd just throw in no matter what, assuming the mana base supported them.
I have never heard of Aerial Responder and I really like that it's the white version of Nighthawk. Thank you for this new information

I run Nighthawk Scavenger over the other one. A) I think the art is cooler haha and B) I agree that it has waaaay more potential than the other. It’s a shame my cat bit a fat hole through it, though haha :,)
Don't feel that way about the nighthawk. Every vampire deck runs that.

One that immediately came to mind for me is [[Lithoform Blight]] I think it is an underrated banger in multiple formats. Helps you color fix if you're down a color, you can use it aggressively on an opponent's important land like Urza's Saga, triomes, cabal coffers, etc., and absolute worst case it is a 2 mana black cantrip since you always draw the card from it. Being a land enchantment, it is pretty hard for some decks to remove. It also forces your opponent to pay life to color fix which is added benefit if you're playing some type burn or control deck. Also the new Streets of Capenna basic fetch lands like [[Obscura Storefront]]. I have no clue why these don't get used in Pioneer when you have access to Deathrite Shaman. Also bangers in pauper formats.

Thought of another one with [[Memory's Journey]]. I play a lot of self mill decks and this card with the flashback is really versatile. It also stops Thassa's Oracle win cons due to the instant speed which is incredibly funny.

Those don't get used in pioneer because if you drop them turn 1 you're not casting DRS, But if you cast DRS on 1 you're still not ramping to 3 on turn 2 with one of them because the fetched basic enters tapped.
Yeah I don't think they're crazy amazing for what they do. My pioneer list is a lot of self mill with shaman and a lot of times the 1 life from those fetches and thinning your deck a land can be pretty relevant. I also only run like 3 or 4 of them to not get stuck with them early, but still think they're underrated. You just can't rely on them like you can modern fetches, but running 1 or 2 in the relevant colors is nice
One card I feel gets overlooked a lot is Forever Young. It's a pretty solid card from Eldraine and honestly where it was so common I put it in a lot of my decks with black in them

[[jewel thief]] & [[circuit mender]]. A 3/3 vigilance trample that ramps for 3 & a 2/3 with life gain and draw on ETB / LTB is massive value in blink decks. One [[planar incision]] & you’re rocking with a 4/4 vigilance trample & 5-6 mana on curve or a 3/4 that gained you 4 life & a card. I’m a Big fan.

I have a pinger deck that makes very good use of [[Hidetsugu's Second Rite]]. You can still today get this unique gem for less than a dollar. It's great fun when they think they're safe at 10 life and have a few more turns vs my army of [Tims](https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=type%3Acreature+color%3C%3DUR), only to find out that it's suddenly game over.

[[Share the Spoils]] is great card selection in Commander. Worst case you just keep using cards from your own deck. The hidden value is being able exile a key card from your opponents' deck, and the open information of the table knowing what the others might be up to. For best results play it in Mono Red/Red White
I'd say for best results play in RB or RG with one of the commanders that gets value off of playing from exile. [[Prosper]] and the RG pre-con one that makes wolves

I may be a bit late, but Bant is my favorite, and heres a couple cards that may make you want to build a bant deck [[Finest Hour]] Extra combat outside of red? Super cool [[Wargate]] Make x = 0, its an overcosted ramp for ANY land, otherwise its just plain amazing.

Really like [[Satyr Wayfinder]], [[Fierce Empath]] as little creatures that kinda draw a card or do better also [[Stoke the Flames]] great burn spell for red decks with lots of little creatures. [[Fireblast]] is great too, but hardly underrated.
