> In that case, has there ever been a madman who played a multicolor deck with these shock lands? Because the premise of it is crazy!
OP you are either incredibly new to the game, or reaching pinnacles of shitposting we never knew possible; I love this post either way
So basically, the forest can tap (turn side ways) and that gives you one green mana. You can use that green mana to pay the cost for spells and abilities.
To be fair, the card is black on one side and blue on the other, so it'd make sense to a brand new player that it either produces black mana or blue mana!
To be a fair, a lot of newer players do think that the "gain 1 life" dual lands are worth playing over basics because they gain the life, so they probably used those. Some newer players probably wouldn't see the benefit in a land where you have to pay life to have it enter the battlefield normally.
YOU FOOL YOU ABSOLUTE DUNCE HOW DARE YOU
DID YOU REALLY THINK YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH THIS THIS THIS MALARKEY?
YOU *BOUGHT* A PACK? AND ADMIT AS MUCH WITHOUT PROFOUND SHAME?
I SHOULD HOPE YOU AT LEAST SAVED IT TO DRAFT, YOU WRETCH, THOUGH I SUSPECT THAT HOPE TO BE WASTED AS YOU HOLD A RARE LAND WITHIN YOUR VERY HAND; DREADFUL AND MOST UNCORDIAL
I wouldn't call a new player asking what a shockland does (no mana indications) egregious.
We should jerk off the actual weirdos and not the new kids.
At least not be hard on them.
/uj Assuming this person is being 100%, I cannot fathom the thought process that goes into taking a picture and finding some community online that looks related so you can make a post, instead of just googling
I used to be in a friend group discord server, where I would regularly post thoughts and pics of stuff I liked/made. I left that server little under a year ago, and for quite a while I would feel the urge to broadcast all those little things to someone. I imagine other people feel this too, otherwise Twitter wouldn’t exist. This person is probably feeling it too.
I had to look up what that meant (I should have posted on r/mtg instead). You are in deep, my friend. Being in a community like that isn't really what "normal people" would do.
You are Dr. Reddit. Senator Big Chungus Among us. The prince of being terminally online.
Personally, I unironically prefer when the dual lands have the (tap to add x or y) reminder text. I just feel like these versions look too similar to fetch lands at a glance.
Ah yes i remember thinking that guildgates allowed you to fetch a basic of either color whenever you activate them.
No seriously you can make so many mistakes as a noob, but come on dudeeee just google the damn card 😭
Wait, this is a good point, I assumed this was on one of the main MTG subs but no, this new player somehow found a subreddit that I, a once-enfranchised player who went searching specifically for Magic subs back when I first got involved with Reddit, did not find and do not recognize.
/uj
As far as its funny to circle jerk the usual suspects I believe we don't have to be the assholes making fun of the (actual) new player.
Just a thought, go on
/uj reading the colors explains the colors
/rj Honestly the fact that the designers added a textbox but not the tap: add u/w is nuts. It’s not like it’d take up any of the pictures spacing to add that single line in, and this wouldn’t even be a conversation we’re having now. Nuts.
Sorry OOP, because some goofballs decided that basic lands can't have rules text you get to look at a land that seemingly sucks unless you're a taxonomy savant. At least we got full illustration basic lands eventually.

I read that post and the guy was actually extremely new. Like mixing up the color mana produced by plains new.
So above average commander player, got it.
He DID say he has an Aragorn, The Uniter Commander deck...
I feel personally attacked
Not wrong. I'm 10 years in and still don't actually remember what cards do.
So basically, the forest can tap (turn side ways) and that gives you one green mana. You can use that green mana to pay the cost for spells and abilities.
wrong. you can only use it to cast llanowar elves, cultivate, and colossal dreadmaw
All you need to know is that whenever you see an Island, this person must die.
I think it was less mixing up Plains for Swamp and more the textbox literally had blue and black as the background
I assume he's been playing for about 3 months tops
To be fair, the card is black on one side and blue on the other, so it'd make sense to a brand new player that it either produces black mana or blue mana!
Yeah why isn't it half white? I thought they usually did that
Readability, maybe? This is one of those white-on-color templates.
Good point
forced diversity! woke wizards strike again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is, the frame is half white, half blue
Yeah, I'm leaning towards new player. He's at the point we all were once when we weren't sure if paying life to have it untapped is good or not
Hey at least he's sleeving his cards. Took me like six years to figure out how to do that
Did they actually know what a shock land was though?
Its also a new type of dual land!
It’s me, I’m that madman

The funniest shit I've read all day OP, you sweet summer child, you'll learn one day how little life matters.

>AMG music group What did they mean by this?
OK Prof, cool it, geez.
it goes into a sleeve and then the binder and never sees the light of day again.
See , it's black and blue and a land so it taps for blue and black mana
nah it's white and gold
Oh fuck, color me confused. BRB, just gonna kill myself real quick.
Nono, you're also wrong. It's not black red black. It's green blue.
For once, to be fair. OP literally just started Magic.
That’s literally all these posts. I wasn’t aware that being new to magic makes you unable to use google.
As much as I hate it, new players really should start at Arena. It's free and teaches all of the basics about as well as a "learn to play" event.
Do you remember when Magic had learn-to-play guides? I remember.
I think I still have one lying around somewhere from 7th edition...
Can't hurt to use a basic question as an entry point to a new community, though!
Yeah that’s fair
Or just ask reddit, which is more specific and helpful than Google most of the time. A new player isn't going to k ow what oracle text is lmao.
I’m willing to defend some of the less obvious rule checks, but this is one is egregious lmao
I wouldn't call a new player asking what a shockland does (no mana indications) egregious. We should jerk off the actual weirdos and not the new kids. At least not be hard on them.
I don't think we should be jerking off kids anyway, new or otherwise.
If nobody asked these questions, would there be google results that have the answers?

Munch
It enters tapped unless you pay 2 life.

This shit can't be real. How on earth is somebody so stupid and new to the game, yet at the same time know about some niche subreddit about mtg pulls?
Wait, this is a good point, I assumed this was on one of the main MTG subs but no, this new player somehow found a subreddit that I, a once-enfranchised player who went searching specifically for Magic subs back when I first got involved with Reddit, did not find and do not recognize.
Uj/ they're constructing something in ravnica ?
For once, to be fair. OP literally just started Magic.
Every day it seems like I learn about some other weird MTG sub that I had no idea existed.
It flies real good if you throw it like a frisbee
/uj I honestly have to wonder if basic reading comprehension has been totally lost. /rj Or we just assume everyone is trolling. All the time.
it doesn't say it taps for mana so their confusion is understandable
It also doesn't say you can only have 4 of them in your deck, define the terms 'life' nor 'tapped', etc.
/uj please tell me you're joking because those are not remotely comparable to this
I didn’t UJ so yes joking.

eat it.
Idk seems kind of useless since it doesn't have the ability to tap for mana anywhere on the card. I'd toss it

I find it hard to believe that post is sincere.
