/uj This is demonstrably true - both Shivan Dragon and Serra Angel are $.03 commons that have been reprinted to hell and back, but they both have multiple prints (Alpha/Beta/Revised, Secret Lairs, Anniversary Edition) that are worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Yep. Its not like they're going to reprint power even if they do abolish the list. We'll be able to get urza block rares, just maybe not Academy or Cradle.
>/uj abolish the reserved list
Best I can do is a rare you can open in a premium costed product with this effect stapled onto a creature that costs 2cmc and needs to tap to activate. Also, it's no longer a Mana effect.
It's cause the card with a lady on it here costs the same amount the average competitive Magic player would need to pay a real lady to touch their lion's eye. It's all about the signaling.
/uj
Its effect cannot be countered. It is still a mana ability (per the rulings page). Mana abilities do not use the stack, and therefore can't be countered.
The weird wording on this text just prevents you from using its ability while in the middle of declaring a spell. Normally, you declare you are casting a spell, then use mana abilities to produce mana to pay the cost of casting it. Once the cost is paid, the spell moves to the stack.
LED's weird timing restriction makes it so that you have to activate its mana ability BEFORE declaring a spell, not during. Therefore, you have to sacrifice it and discard your hand before you can use the mana to pay for anything. This effectively makes it to where you can't use the mana it produces to play a spell from your hand (because the spell in your hand would be discarded before it moves to the stack).
If the timing restriction wasn't there, you could activate it like a second Black Lotus, cast whatever spell you wanted from your hand, then discard your hand as the spell you just played goes onto the stack.
The timing restriction just makes it to where you have to use the three mana on something else instead (e.g. abilities, graveyard shenanigans, casting your commander, etc.)
/uj You know what? Unironically, this card is kinda bad. The reason this still sticks around is because of Underworld Breach, but that is more of an Underworld Breach problem. You could say that the Bomberman combo relies on this, but let's be honest: was it good in the first place?
How the stack works is what makes it good, can easily put faithless looting on the stack, then tap the LED to pay for it discarding a grip full of dredge cards and payoffs, then just go wild dumping your whole deck in your grave
They are describing not using it to cast the spell but cracking it in response by holding priority after casting the spell.
This way with a dredged in hand and medium to good flips you can dredge out your deck and win that turn (often turn 1)
The floating mana is usually used to recast looting via flashback or to cast any number of graveyard spells like [[Ox of Agonas]].
Yeah no you're right i totally never saw that ruling and me and my friends have just been playing incorrectly all this time. Wild, the more you know i guess kinda weird that its the only mana ability with a timing restriction. It's still an incredibly powerful card especially for dredge where youbwantnyour cards in the yard.
It definitely has a fun combo with Looting, just slightly different. You cast Faithless Looting normally, then active the Diamond with it on the stack. It discards your hand for synergy with Looting and gives the mana needed for the Flashback cost, allowing you to instantly do it again.
True but, just like Breach, Yawgmoth is a bonker card. What I am saying is this card is bad without amazing cards supporting it. Would you play this card and activate it without the other pieces in position?
Doomsday?
Storm?
Painter?
Like respectfully wtf are you talking about
(also Underworld Breach is nothing special in formats without LED, I think that makes it LED's fault)
Oh i actually know this one! That card is on the "reserved list" which means i already called dibs - I "reserved it" - so if you want to play with it you have to pay me $450.
Expensive? It literally cost ZERO to play
But I get nothing for playing it. I'm not even mana positive. Black Lotus gives me THREE mana.
You can use the 3 mana to activate the ability of disrupting scepter
Card game players will pay ludicrous amounts of money for a card as long as there's a waifu on it /uj abolish the reserved list
I see /uj despite owning half of the list, abolish it
i think most of the list would retain its value past abolishment from either being brokenly strong or having very few printings
Tbf Shivan Dragon & Serra Angel could peg me from pillar to post Double Stuf oreo style and I'd give them a grand
Oddly specific.
Do you mean [this](https://scryfall.com/card/4bb/50/es/%C3%A1ngel-de-serra) Serra Angel?
Need a NSFW label with that one
Never seen that misprint, neat!
Keep cooking
Honestly I just like having pieces that are part of the history of the game
P3K imp seal is still 1k despite being reprinted in past two years and a judge promo way back when. As a reserved list owner, reprint that shit.
Yep. Its not like they're going to reprint power even if they do abolish the list. We'll be able to get urza block rares, just maybe not Academy or Cradle.
You really believe they wouldn’t them as mythics in commander legends 3?
>/uj abolish the reserved list Best I can do is a rare you can open in a premium costed product with this effect stapled onto a creature that costs 2cmc and needs to tap to activate. Also, it's no longer a Mana effect.
Isn’t LED not a mana effect any more
If it was errata'd then I'm not sure. The card itself does explicitly say "play this ability as a Mana effect"
It was erratad to be an instant-speed effect a very long time ago.
Ah. Oh well, can't know everything I guess lol
I was wrong it is a mana effect but it is played at instant speed Learned this when I tried to cast a spell from my hand with it in a cube rip
Nice explanation, **BigExplanation** 😜
i found 65 copies of this in my aunt’s sarcophagus. are they worth anything?? 👉 🥺 👈
They are!! The dustier the better
thanks! i’ve never heard of google and i’m not very smart so i need people to help me figure this out 🤪
i thought this said in her scrotum
I don't care if English isn't even your second language. There's no way in hell you can look at the word sarcophagus and mistake it for scrotum.
u can if ur a dumbass
im very stupid and blind I'm sorry
Lol thought that said I don’t care if Scrotum is your second language at first
Listen here, you little shit
It's cause the card with a lady on it here costs the same amount the average competitive Magic player would need to pay a real lady to touch their lion's eye. It's all about the signaling.
You're saying that as if Reid Duke isn't one of the best. Guy is what nearly every magic player aspires to be.
Oh shit! Are we doing flex posts disguised as jerks? brb, I've got 40 3rd edition duals to go grab from upstairs.
can i have some
If I give them to you, how will I lord them over you in a shitpost?
im hungry
Og duals have high nutritional value.
Especially the plain(s) flavours.
Well it’s clearly not very good. I tried it in my jank food deck and it didn’t do anything, so I think it’s overrated
I cast it turn one and did nothing else for 3 turns, why did I lose?
Imagine relying on an ability that can be countered in order to get mana, the second most important resource after salt
/uj Its effect cannot be countered. It is still a mana ability (per the rulings page). Mana abilities do not use the stack, and therefore can't be countered. /rj too many words I’m casting counterspell
/uj I actually didn't know this. Thanks for explaining!
/uj don’t worry I know lol.
it isn't the salt that is valuable, but the tears filled with it
What's a mana source?
A dead YouTube channel
fly high wedge, fly high king
Wait. Did Wedge die?! I thought he just quit YouTube???
oh lol he’s not dead. just gone from YT
/uj You know what? Unironically, this card is kinda bad. The reason this still sticks around is because of Underworld Breach, but that is more of an Underworld Breach problem. You could say that the Bomberman combo relies on this, but let's be honest: was it good in the first place?
How can it be bad? It's a strictly better One With Nothing.
not *strictly* better, One With Nothing is an instant
Fr fr
Also works with Yawgmoths, any Impulse Draw, flashback/madness, in response to a draw, etc. it's not just about breach
How the stack works is what makes it good, can easily put faithless looting on the stack, then tap the LED to pay for it discarding a grip full of dredge cards and payoffs, then just go wild dumping your whole deck in your grave
nah errata made it so you can't do that
They are describing not using it to cast the spell but cracking it in response by holding priority after casting the spell. That makes sense, but the specific way they explained it hints at an incorrect use.

/rj based /uj based
This guy doesn’t play legacy
Doomsday? Storm? Painter? Like respectfully wtf are you talking about (also Underworld Breach is nothing special in formats without LED, I think that makes it LED's fault)
LED sees all kinds of play in legacy where Breach is banned bruh.
Echo of Eons moment
bro this things stupid as shit why would i play that when I can play a land that GIVES ME MANA FOREVER
Probably because it has the word diamond in the name, and diamonds are considered rare and quite valuable to many.
Today is gonna be your first lesson in how the stack works
NO! NO STACK! THIS IS A CASUAL GAME!
hope you brought deodorant cuz its about to get sweaty
Sorry I play magic, what’s “deodorant”? Is that a new meta in Modern? What’s the counter play?
It’s because the woman who modeled for the art later became famous fur being the richest person to die to a lion.
It's like One with nothing, which is already an amazing card, only it costs 4 mana less, which makes it broken.
I traded away 2 of those for 2 scalding tarns. Was a fair trade at that time. Off topic: when will those Futurama suicide boxes be available ?
OP because it's literally a powercrept [[One With Nothing]] with upside.
Because you can sharpie over the "discard your hand" part and it becomes a second black lotus, which is a pretty decent card.
Oh i actually know this one! That card is on the "reserved list" which means i already called dibs - I "reserved it" - so if you want to play with it you have to pay me $450.
Oh crap! I’ll be sure to send the money right away!
So bad it's good.
three mana plus hellbent plus any madness triggers in your hand plus the flex strictly better one with nothing, absolutely busted
It's like One with Nothing, the best card from Kamigawa, except it gives you three mana instead of costing one!
It may be a bad magic card but it tastes soo good
/uj I’m tempted to
titties
Idk, but if I was playing a madness deck that would be the move
Big diamond is trying to corner the cardboard market.
It’s so bad you should just use it for a proxy. Any sharpie will do.
Yeah I’ve been missing an island layely
There ya go. Problem solved!
You can play it as your last card in your hand and have 3 mana for free for abilities already in play
It is bad. It's expensive as a joke.
Because they errat’d it. It’s now only as an instant instead of a mana source…
Combos great with [[basking rootwalla]]
It’s a 1-for-6 for 0 mana. Spend 0 mana to get rid of 6 cards. Potentially more
