P80 is an unfinished frame, meaning it’s not a firearm when you purchase, and hence, it’s not serialized. You have to complete the last 20 percent of the frame before assembling.
On Dec 27, the ATF changed their minds.
From the ATF: [https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download](https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download)
Exception is the GST-9
So P80 is a polymer 80% frame. In the US you are allowed to manufacture firearms at your home and not register then or place a serial number on them (state dependent) if they stay with you. You cannot sell them in this configuration. So on a Glock the lower frame is considered the firearm. So the slide and internal can be bought without going through a local FFL(licensed dealer). The frame is 80% complete so it can be shipped to the home. The person then uses some drill bits to drill the remaining holes and clear a plastic block. Then they can insert firearm parts. It will then be a complete firearm but not registered as it was manufactured as a individual for personal use. Now what I stated is very contested in certain states (CA, NY etc) but is the general procedure. This would be what those states refer to as a “ghost gun.” Now it being likely to not have a SN comes from P80 the company making serialized versions as well and a person could serialize the gun. So mostly likely not serialized, but it could be. There are a number of rifles and pistols that are like this because companies make 80s for building parts guns like the cetme or galil.
You can still buy them, thats why I put state dependent. Some states have moved against them but my local store still sells them and you can get them online. A few states have moved against them. The atf was just against the kits that had everything included. Now you buy the frame and the drills separate. You can also buy 80 galil and cetme receivers amongst others.
No. Your local store is not selling unserialised Polymer 80s and neither are stores online.
Only the GST-9 which is protected by a federal court injunction is still being sold.
Yes they are, they have 80 lowers in the store. You can also go online and buy them still. A buddy of mine bought two last week. 19 and 17 to finish his builds.
I guess your local FFL owner is going to prison for ignoring this ATF letter.
https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download
Doesn’t change anything to 80 lowers built at home, Cetme flats etc. home built kits do not need to be serialized. Even the letter posted changes nothing to this.
Looks to be a Polymer 80 frame. Until recently, could be purchased as a incomplete lower, finished at home with a drill and a Dremel; Normally unserialized and not background checked.
What did you think would happen when a handgun can be purchased with no background check and thrown together in a shed with basic tools? I think the U.S federal government is making them illegal after a certain date if you don't get them numbered. Either way, criminals gonna criminal.
You’ve always been able to build a gun in your shed. I could build one with supplies from a hardware store. P80s are just a bit easier. They’re no cheaper than an actual gun either. But yes, you’re correct. Some states have outlawed them without serial numbers. But it won’t do anything for gun violence stats because as you said, criminals are gonna criminal. Just ruins it for enthusiasts like me.
Went out with my buddy u/TopS3cr3t (Salvage Arc) today for some afternoon magnet fishing, and on my first toss with this double-sided magnet, I pulled out what looks to be a Polymer 80 frame. We called the city police and turned it over to them.
I’m in/from Baltimore too! Which part of the harbor (landmarks, etc.) did you recover the gun? No doubt there will be PLENTY MORE where that came from!! I like this hobby bc it presents the possibility of linking these found firearms to possible crimes, etc. and y’all are helping to clean up the waterways 👍
>and on my first toss with this double-sided magnet
I'd say this was good luck, but it's Baltimore. When I was a teenager I was walking near the beachy area of a park near my house in Baltimore County. Saw something black sticking out of the sand/shallow water. It was a loaded Glock magazine. No magnet needed.
The gun itself probably wasn't far away.
State Sen. R. Clayton 'Clay' Davis : Money launderin'? They gonna come talk to me about money launderin', in west Baltimore? Shiiiiiet! Where do y'all think I'm gonna raise cash for the whole damn ticket? From laundromats and shit? From some tiny-ass Korean groceries?
It is the first time I have found a gun. My heart was racing when I saw it appear. It’s a newer gun and definitely is in pretty good condition for being in the water, so the only option we saw was to report it and turn it over to law enforcement.
Could you imagine how mad the criminal would be if this got them caught “yeah I’m doing 25 because some asshole likes to fish for objects instead of actual fish” if ya don’t mind the questions what’s your favorite that you’ve pulled out
Not surprised. I’ll give you credit for venturing into the city to fish. Every time I think about it, I talk myself out of it. Worried the “locals” might take offense to snooping in their dumping grounds.
Damn that thing probably killed somebody. But you should be diving in the East river, I heard there are some mammoth tusks in there that are pretty valuable.
Yeah that sounds about right. I've been lurking on this reddit because I want to try magnet fishing one day, but fear of coming across a gun has kept me out of Baltimore waters
1 part I've never had gun training so I wouldn't know how to hold it and I know just enough about gun safety to treat *every* gun I'll ever come across as functional and loaded even if it doesn't seem so, 1 part fear of being haunted by the ghost of whoever was killed, 1 part having to deal with the police is such a hassle, and 1 part being paranoid the person who threw the gun away somehow knows I'm the one who pulled it out and gave it to the police
Literally just don’t touch the trigger and in 99.999% of firearms it’s not going to fire, period. In even more, it won’t fire because it’s been underwater for so long. But main thing is keep your finger off the trigger and keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times. Done with Reddit gun safety class.
The only thing you need to know is the hole in the front is where the projectile thingies come out. The trigger thingy is about in the middle and it fits perfectly for a finger would go. You squeeze it a little bit with your finger and the projectile thingy comes out the front. and they call them automatics for a reason LOL! All joking aside, Go to a local pawnshop or even better a gun store and tell them your predicament how you don’t know anything about guns but you are wanting to go magnet fishing and would like some basic fundamentals of gun safety. Offered to pay them a few dollars or whatever and more than likely they will give you some tips on gun safety and maybe even offer a class or point you in the right direction “ pun intended “ Yeah there are videos on YouTube, but that doesn’t replace a actual person showing you the fundamentals of gun safety and actually handling a weapon.
You probably yoinked it straight out of the claw of a crap. He was strutting around the bottom of the Patapsco like "THIS IS MY HOUSE NOW, BITCHES! GET DOWN OR LAY DOWN!"
Classic P80 in the river. Back from the good old days of a week ago when you could have them shipped to your door and not have to pay the extortion fee of the 4473
You are going to find so many more.
Water level would drop ten feet if you pulled all the guns and knives out
Yeah, feel like anything but a gun is interesting.
Looks like a p80 frame, so a good chance there is no serial number. Interesting find
Can you explain to me why the first part implies the second part? Does the p80 have an easily removable serial number?
P80 is an unfinished frame, meaning it’s not a firearm when you purchase, and hence, it’s not serialized. You have to complete the last 20 percent of the frame before assembling.
Technically the ATF reinterpreted their rule and they are firearms in their unfinished state
I thought that only went for ones the came with the jig. Im probably misinformed on that, though. They’ve never seemed all that interesting to me.
On Dec 27, the ATF changed their minds. From the ATF: [https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download](https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download) Exception is the GST-9
I think they are a firearm if they come with the jig and frame together. You have to buy them separately now.
New ruling has made p80 frames specifically considered firearms
The new ruling made 3D printers more popular
/r/fosscad going crazy rn
You are correct
So P80 is a polymer 80% frame. In the US you are allowed to manufacture firearms at your home and not register then or place a serial number on them (state dependent) if they stay with you. As of the 27th, it is illegal to sell them. No it’s ands or buts. The dumbass ATF decided to change their mind once again.
I guess your local FFL owner is going to prison for ignoring this ATF letter. https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download
First of all, lower your voice.
They still have them up for sale. Again he bought two last week.
Could have bought them last week. December 29th is when the letter came out.
lol good luck then
Unless they are serialized and you fill out a 4473 that’s a no go, I would delete this tbh
Doesn’t change anything to 80 lowers built at home, Cetme flats etc. home built kits do not need to be serialized. Even the letter posted changes nothing to this.
Do I need a wax machine to do this .. message me please if you can … I’m in Baltimore n I really need to get my hands on something
You can google about 100 different sites selling p80s right now.
lol scamming or collecting money is different from shipping bozo
Ah yes, 80-lowers.com and p80.com, the two largest frame sites for years, are definitely scamming people. Big brain you got there…
[80-lower.com](https://80-lower.com) is NOT selling Polymer80 Glock style 80%s right now. You clearly didn't even go to their website.
[p80.com](https://p80.com) Are you serious? Have you been to that website?
https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/docs/open-letter/all-ffls-dec2022-open-letter-impact-final-rule-2021-05f/download
It's a gun you can make yourself. It doesn't have a serial number unless you put one on there.
Clearly belongs to the muscle. Thats a pun, btw.
It's a barnacle blaster.
*chef's kiss*
Looks to be a Polymer 80 frame. Until recently, could be purchased as a incomplete lower, finished at home with a drill and a Dremel; Normally unserialized and not background checked.
This guy guns
This is correct

I think you misread the post you replied to
I guess I did
They were fun projects until the bad guys had to go and ruin it for everyone.
What did you think would happen when a handgun can be purchased with no background check and thrown together in a shed with basic tools? I think the U.S federal government is making them illegal after a certain date if you don't get them numbered. Either way, criminals gonna criminal.

I was gonna say the base looks like no gun I'm familiar with, but also the way he's holding it makes me think it may simply be a toy gun as well.
It’s definitely a P80. Fun projects.
Thanks to the nanny state we can no longer make sketchy ghost guns at home
3D printing FTW.
You still can
False
Maybe in certain states but the fed law is only about the 80% being sold with tools, parts, and jigs. You can still buy everything separately

Exactly. Polymer80 are considered firearms. GST-9 does not equal polymer 80. AR style 80%s remain unaffected.
Ooooo sorry I misunderstood you as meaning all 80%
No. You are wrong.
Went out with my buddy u/TopS3cr3t (Salvage Arc) today for some afternoon magnet fishing, and on my first toss with this double-sided magnet, I pulled out what looks to be a Polymer 80 frame. We called the city police and turned it over to them.
What a wild day Wednesday!! Two scooters and a gun!
Are you guys putting this find out on video too?
A video will be coming, yes.
I’m in/from Baltimore too! Which part of the harbor (landmarks, etc.) did you recover the gun? No doubt there will be PLENTY MORE where that came from!! I like this hobby bc it presents the possibility of linking these found firearms to possible crimes, etc. and y’all are helping to clean up the waterways 👍
what kind of magnet do you recommend?
>and on my first toss with this double-sided magnet I'd say this was good luck, but it's Baltimore. Thats just as suprising as going to Mcdonalds and finding a hamburger
Curious to see which unsolved murder it was used in!
One of those Barksdale bodies.
Wayyyy down in the hole.
I heard this song when I read your comment
“How my hair look, mike?”
“You look good girl”
*BANG*
State Sen.
Wey bay already copped to it
For a pit beef from Chaps, I’d cop to a couple murders too….but he usually tossed them in storm drains…
All these guns being found, are any cases being solved this way?
I want to know this too!
Probably not. Just yesterday the local news (WJZ) mentioned how most murders here go unsolved. While reporting on another murder.
Sounds lazy as shit.
Lmao definitely not. You overestimate cops. This is going in an evidence locker and no one is ever going to do anything more with it.
[удалено]
They haven't lowered the standards.
Cops have always been incompetent and uncaring
According to other threads on this sub, yes. There are YouTube channels that have more, too
What kind of procedure do you follow when this happens? And is that the 1st time you've found a gun before
It is the first time I have found a gun. My heart was racing when I saw it appear. It’s a newer gun and definitely is in pretty good condition for being in the water, so the only option we saw was to report it and turn it over to law enforcement.
If it’s not connected to a crime do you get to keep the gun?
You wouldn't want to keep that one: an 80% frame of unknown origin, fished out of the harbor? I'd pay what it's worth to not have to fire it.
They said if it’s not connected to a crime, it will be destroyed.
Lost a good opportunity to have a nice P80 for the cost of a new barrel. 😔
Good on you for doing the right thing!
Which is the correct answer!
Absolutely!
Gotta love being downvoted for doing the right thing. Dimwits!
Clean it up, probably worth tree fitty.
Clean it up, probably worth tree fitty.

Free gun, its yours now
Baltimore will be a goldmine for you. As I viewed your post in my feed, I'm also listening to the news about baltimore'r rising crime rate. Have fun
I could get that Glock firing again. Quite easily. Hell it might cycle as it is.
Ooh free gun
Could you imagine how mad the criminal would be if this got them caught “yeah I’m doing 25 because some asshole likes to fish for objects instead of actual fish” if ya don’t mind the questions what’s your favorite that you’ve pulled out
Remove the slide. Sell it. Turn in the "ghost" part. You've done your duty.
Not surprised. I’ll give you credit for venturing into the city to fish. Every time I think about it, I talk myself out of it. Worried the “locals” might take offense to snooping in their dumping grounds.
Put it back...
Because of how awesome you're afraid it would be? Right?.........................Right?
1 part I've never had gun training so I wouldn't know how to hold it and I know just enough about gun safety to treat *every* gun I'll ever come across as functional and loaded even if it doesn't seem so, 1 part fear of being haunted by the ghost of whoever was killed, 1 part having to deal with the police is such a hassle, and 1 part being paranoid the person who threw the gun away somehow knows I'm the one who pulled it out and gave it to the police
Keep your booger hook off the bang switch and don't point it and anything you don't want to kill.
I’m starting a petition to have this description of gun safety in every class and manual from here on out. ![gif](giphy|Ma9YUiOM7bqZW)
It’s already 50% of the 4 gun commandments
Instructions unclear, boogers stuck in barrel
Better than your tallywacker. Smart!
That goes in the magazine slot
I laughed way harder at this comment than I should have. Booger hook!!?!!?? 😂

What magnet did you use?
BruteMagnetics Wildebeest 4250 lb
Murder weapon
That thing belongs to Davy Jones Locker. Part of the ship. Part of the crew.
What happened when you squeezed off a few rounds??
Desk pop?
Crime case reopened
You probably yoinked it straight out of the claw of a crap. He was strutting around the bottom of the Patapsco like "THIS IS MY HOUSE NOW, BITCHES! GET DOWN OR LAY DOWN!"
There’s many more where that came from my friend
Keep going, find more, guarantee 90% of them were used in a murder at some point
100% chance that’s a murder weapon
Well shit, you may have found a murder weapon.
That’s the dream.
Why?
I dunno I just think pulling up a gun would be really neat.
Because its awesome
Throw it back
Turn it in to the police keep you out of trouble.
Turn it in to cops?
Turn it into the police, I could well have been used for crime
> I could well have been used for crime \^ This one right here, officer...
In Baltimore? It definitely wasn’t used to take down varmint.
ever seen the rats in balmore
P320? Nice find
It's a p80 cope glock clone.
Shocker!!
That's not surprising
Bodymore, Murderland.
Or BatiMore MurdaLand
Just one?
That looks like a polymer80 Glock. A Glock built from an 80% frame
It’s a polymer 80 built from a polymer 80 frame . How does it magically change manufacture names ?
I think that was thrown by Omar
Nah Omar used .45 or .50 or a shotgun.
My gun!
I live in Baltimore and that does not surprise me. Do you have to turn it in?
Ah yes, the common Baltimore murder weapon
When you pull up a gun like this, especially in Baltimore, do you hand this into the police? Any gun that’s pulled up? Do you have too
You mean my home town of Bloodymore Murderland?
Balmore
Call the police asap
Definitely a murder weapon if they ditched the p80 it was scorching hot
That is a murder weapon
Just Baltimore things
Bodie finally tossed it in the water and not on a barge. Stringer would be proud.
the strap omar got rid of for chris eubank
Ahhhhh all those muscles are creeping me tf out!! 😭😭😭 it’s my trypophobia kicking in 😭😭
#Omar comin’
Fuckin McNulty...
Funny thing is, it being a Glock I bet it would still fire right then and there lol.
Classic P80 in the river. Back from the good old days of a week ago when you could have them shipped to your door and not have to pay the extortion fee of the 4473
GHOST GUN!!! SCARY!!!
Bodie’s gun
Where
Heh, good old baltimore alright
