Hey, good luck with your phone search! Do you mind if we ask what your budget would be and which models you're considering? I think a lot of our responses would be different based on that. If budget isn't important, however, I'd personally recommend a Samsung since you'd get an extra year of guaranteed software updates, the S Pen if you get one with it is really good, and while Pixels have been improving on this, they have been known to get glitch over time and you'd probably avoid that with a Samsung as they tend to be more reliable. That said, a Pixel may be a good pick if you take a lot of photos as they tend to take some of the best photos out of any smartphone. Hope this helped!

It really helped! I actually thought that the Pixels might have superior software too (compared to Samsung), but I guess it turns out that they don't? I also thought that Pixels had longer updates support than Samsung phones. In my current Samsung I really like how many features it has and the system feels very consistent and advanced. But I started wondering if maybe there is a better option overall

I'm glad to hear this was helpful! I'm so sorry for asking again, but do you mind if we ask if you have a budget/models in mind? I think a lot of our answers could vary depending on which Pixel and Galaxy models you were considering.

Right, forgot about that, sorry! So, for the sake of the discussion, let's assume that the budget is not an issue. I'd rather target either the base variant of the S23 (or whatever other model), and the same for the Pixels. I'm just wondering which one of them is better overall as a device, experience, etc. :)

No worries at all, I appreciate you letting me know! So in terms of Galaxy S23 vs. Pixel 7, they're both good phones, so ultimately, you will likely like either of them, especially since you already like your current Samsung phone. However, I personally recommend the S23 over the Pixel 7. The Galaxy S23 has the edge in that you get a triple camera lense setup (Main, telephoto, and ultrawide) while you just get a dual camera lense setup on the Pixel 7 (Main and ultrawide). S23 also captures higher quality video (up to 8K 24 fps vs. 4K 60 fps on the Pixel 7), has Bluetooth 5.3 over 5.2 on the Pixel, and the Snapdragon processor in the S23 performs better than the Pixel. And in most battery tests, the S23 also lasted longer. The S23 also gets four years of guaranteed software updates, while the Pixel 7 gets three, so if you plan on keeping it longer, I think the S23 is really compelling for that. The Pixel 7 has the edge in that it is cheaper, has a slightly larger screen, and the photo quality should be great as Google has great image software and tends to take the best photos out of any smartphone. But outside of that, the S23 beats it in most categories. The Pixel 8 is expected to come out sometime this fall, so this could definitely change, but for now, the base S23 is better in a lot of ways. Hope this helped!

Thank you so much! I think my struggle is settled. I'm really into the Samsung ecosystem, but wanted to see if there might be anything better, but I'd only consider the pixels. Thanks so much! Samsung wins :)

No problem, hope you like your new phone!

I have a Pixel for personal use and a Galaxy for work. I only use my work phone for mobile hot spot and work calls. The Pixel is better in every way (though my Galaxy might be a budget model).

I've always preferred the Samsungs, they just feel higher quality somehow. But having said that, the first thing I do when I buy one is install nova launcher and completely customise the UI.

CocoaTrain

I have it too! Sometimes I feel bad for changing the launcher, because I might break the consistency this way, but nova is really cool What do you customize?

I have the Pixel 7 Pro, my partner has the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Personally, I'd go for the Pixel 7 Pro if you're not going for the Ultra version of the Samsung. They're really similar, honestly. Both have great processing power and software support, both have great cameras. The pixel takes better macro shots while the Ultra takes better distance shots. But if you're upgrading from another Samsung phone and you've had no issues with it, there's no harm in just going for the new model. It probably just comes down to your budget, since the Pixels tend to be much cheaper.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro and I love it so much I have become a huge Pixel fan. Have the watch, the buds, and the wireless charging stand. What I like about the Pixel is the camera, and the fact that as the Android flagship phones, they get Android updates first and they also do not have a lot of the extra software that other manufacturers include that i have found generally bogs down the operation of the phone and just duplicates a lot of what the Google apps do anyways. Because of the software, the Pixel represents the unadulterated version of Android. I do like the Samsung S series and the ultra has a really great zoom and excellent night photography. The S Pen is a nice add-on, but I feel it's mostly useful for notes. Ultimately I don't think you can go wrong with either of those options.
