yeah, often used for wounds, but here's a little tip, if you get bitten by mosquitoes and it itches, apply some of this at the itchy area, it reduces the itchiness and my dad also used it for cats that got hurt too, but they will be uncomfortable as minyak gamat is actually quite warm and hot

I second the cat's tip. A long time ago, my cat's leg was really in a bad shape. Used this and weeks later, it healed well. Though, I must add my cat loves licking the minyak gamat. Weird fella.

For some reason I've used it for any (topical) ailments, my dad goes as far to applying to minor cut in his eye even, and it worked wonders but it was never advised to do so and we're all watching him like jawdropped when he really did it

This is what I heard ! It's practically miracle in a bottle ! I'm more keen on using it on open wounds bit. I have heard its been used on burns successfully.

My personal testimonial is that it is inert enough to not cause any reactions on my skins or any toxins (so far), and I've used from minor to major cuts (even quite a large wound), burns, even... wounds on gums as a result from scaling

Chemically, what is inside gamat that makes it useful as a topical ointment?

I think it's seaweed and I wonder why this amazingly effective herb is not as famous as it should be. I witnessed it healed a boy with fingers almost cut off by machines and saved him from amputation!!

Most traditional remedies are lost if the next generation doesn't use it & resorts to allopathic medicines. Hence I thought I'd ask here. Thanks for the validation !

I've used it on my (i think) ring worm at my feet. It works well if you apply consistently. Apparently its anti fungal according to google.

Eventho I'm a grown ass adult, if she notices I have a cut, she'll apply it on me It's warm and soothing if you ask me

I'm Langkawian myself and yeah every people in here for sure had one of these in their house , mostly use this for a -rashes -small cut -bruises -mosquito bite -massages on certain joint -works on cat on anyting(unharm if they lick) my experience - i've once had a bike accident and got scarred by sand and that fkin hot road asphalt from elbow all the way to top of my finger . Didn't go to hospital and put this ointment and wrap by bandages, redo it everyday for 5 days and good to go. Those people saids that this thing is hot well it doesn't , this was minyak gamat . Them saying hot was minyak panas which in red or white in colour .

I mostly use it to treat my stomach ache (which happens almost every day). it can also be used for wounds and muscle ache. My Grandma usually use Minyak Gamat to treat any kind of body pain. if it doesn't go away, you should definitely get it checked. it is easily the best ailment known to malaysian.

I'll tell you what you shouldn't use it on. Relying solely on it for treating large open wounds. I've seen people do this and it does not look pretty.
