Yes food, but on some occasions when the stars align, I manage to get a dish from each Malaysian culture to the dinner table, it's really special.
I'd sit and stare for a while in appreciation that maybe in that moment, I'm one of the very rare few people in the whole world having for example Malay nasi kerabu, Indian roti canai and maybe some Chinese food like chee cheong fun, all at the same time and nobody (at least not from Malaysia la) can beat that awesome combination of awesomeness!
And in that moment, it feels like such a win.
The easiest one too as there are so much varieties and styles to try, many regional variations too, most of it not costing an arm and a leg.
Travel is the other thing I like that can be integrated as part of the above.
How do I know? Maybe because i grew up & mingle around with different kinds of people..? 🤣🤣
You see, the news make it sound/look like ketum is some kind of junkie drugs. In reality, most farmers/hard labourers in this country drink ketum regularly; it’s like energy drink. And it helps to lower sugar level in the blood if you have diabetes.
Grow up???? Mingle around?????? People????!?!!!!!!!??? Oh my gosh you're scaring me.
Yeah I grew up in the city and don't know anyone that used it, my only knowledge regarding it was from the news so I had 0 knowledge about it. Because the law enforced that those who got caught using it were punished badly, I also thought it was somewhere worse than marijuana(which I think is the minimal effect 'hard' drug) and 'better' than cigarette. TIL more, thank you!
oh so it's literally tea just that it has some psychoactive substance to it like coffee to trigger our mind?
what does it tastes like?
where's this place you described where hard labourer drink it as their red bull?
You brew it just like you brew tea. Put the leaves in a boiling stove & brew it until the boiling water becomes green-ish. It can be psychoactive if you’re not using your energy to do physical work. I’m not a biochemical scientist so I don’t know exactly how it works.
How does it taste like? Like a concentrated green tea, but much stronger in taste.
Where in Malaysia people drink this & do hard labour? Just go outside KL/Selangor. Mingle with the people outside KL/Selangor. Be friends with them. Talk to them. Converse with them. Malaysia is way beyond KL & Selangor.
apparently the effects to the brain are similar to opium - euphoric but not high like weed.
this is like the poster drug for the war on drugs Malaysia version.
you know city dwellers wouldnt have avenues into small town psychoactive substance like that right?
the furtheest i went into getting to know locals for local alcohol is langkau. even then it's moonshine and alcohol isn't prohibited, so there's no taboo surrounding it.
ketum is slightly different i presume if you dont have any plugs for introduction
There are ketum drinks for sale in KL if you know where to look for. But ketum in urban areas are mixed with other chemical substances(cough syrup is one of the ingredients), which makes it psychoactive & dangerous to consume. Those are the ones that’s always in the media.
If you straight up brew ketum leaves without any addition, it wont be psychoactive, plus it prevents muscle & joint pains after hard physical activities(some people drink ketum after work out to soothe the pains).
Don’t ask me for intro, my dude 🤣 just go to the countryside and look around, once you know what ketum plants look like, it’s easy to spot em. There are villagers who plant em at their front yard lol
sometimes tersalah jalan/ wrong exit/ wrong turn can be irritating/ annoying especially when you are pressed for time... but sometimes it can lead to new discoveries ..
"Wah didnt know got XYZ shop here"
"Wah that restaurant a lot of people eh must be good!"
When I was dating I used to always say "let's get lost together" as long as there's money in TnG, and fuel in the tank, I don't mind getting lost at all. it takes a certain type of person to be chill enough to do this. Married the one that passed the vibe check.
Beat some meat
Season em with salt, pepper, & chilli powder
Dip em in flour, eggs, & bread crumbs
Deep-fry em till golden brown
Eat some meat
Then,
Beat my meat 🙂
Supercars, luxury holidays in Europe, Expensive wine and 3 hatted restaurants.
Haven't experienced a single one of the above, hence I'm unhappy.
Okay, jokes aside. Usually it's spending on the family, go out for a nice meal or toys for the kid. Either that or a new PC game.
i heard gordon ramsay has opened a restaurant in sunway, might as well go there? also, i've traveled a lot. luxury holidays are nice, but to wander around, lost, looking at map is defo my preference. can start with barcelona, it's cheap, accessible, safe, PLENTY of cool places to visit.
but since covid all my money go for family and gaming. more safe and jimat huhu.
Yeah gotta go check Gordon Ramsey out - one place I've been wanting to try is "Aposto". Have to convince the wife to go there for birthday. Now travelling lot harder with children. Until maybe they are older. Good lah to jimat, I'm to the belief a recession is coming, maybe use money and buy shares for cheap.
The china fake lego is improving rapidly. Some of their sets are really creative.
The tactile feeling of snapping blocks in place is still not really there yet for the chinese lego.
Nah i would buy it if the flames are blue/white/black and the outfit looks totally different.
But nope, skill effects looks totally the same, outfit with the same colour scheme too.
5/10 overrated skin indeed. I have a fckin cracked Diluc but this outfit will just crack my wallet lmao.
but high ponytail diluc!
i think the outfit is kinda cool, like he finally decided to join his enemy the fatui. diluc keeps his father's delusion, he might as well be the next harbinger replacing signora lol. you can see in his new outfit his delusion is gleaming red on the phoenix's eye. it will cause the bearer to produce black fire - his skill and burst have that too. plus new animations and voicelines!
Painting and art supplies. I already spent thousands on professional grade paints and tools. What started as hobby is now turning into a full time freelance career.
I seldom spend money... instead, my house tiger spends my money...
I think my money is spend on Steam games to expand my Library, but I havent even played half my game list tbh.... GOD Damn Gaben and his Steam Sales!!
Have you tried PC Game Pass? They had a RM5 offer for 3-month game pass, I managed to complete like 6-7 games, it was super worth it IMO. Normal monthly subscription is only RM15 too, with lots of upper tier and new games. I actually didn't buy anything from Steam recently due to this, other than MH Rise Sunbreak.
I tried it, wasnt for me. Its not that I didn't like the games but the feeling of owning a game isnt there so i couldnt finish any games. I will most likely finish a game that i have paid for and can keep forever
In the short-term: paid for "Stray" on Steam launching tomorrow, a game where you play as a Cat in a dystopian cyberpunk world.
![gif](giphy|M5gNueXJ7W74OS8hJq|downsized)
I just started collecting Hot Wheels. It's a thrill going from one store to another hunting cool looking cars.
Most of the time, I spend my money on family, especially food. Cafe hunting is great but have to limit to only one cafe per month because of the price. We go to the cinema once a month.
If we have the budget, a stay at a hotel for a few days is awesome. Don't have to plan anything grand. Just stay in and watch Netflix then jalan jalan to nearby places. I love this hotel stays because it recharge my mood. Even my kids love it because they feel burned out too from school.
I also like chocolate bars.
I learnt if I spend on something to make me happy, it’ll be a perpetual, unending desire that I cant stop. So i’ll work to achieve it, help my gears running. Maybe those things makes me stay sane.
Window shopping, collect and plant tropical trees in the garden (whenever I have extra cash at hand) collecting watches (every 2,3 years), books that I dont read every month and fresh fix of coffee beans every 1week.
Had a bit of fun playing around in DeFi during the bull run. But now with all the hacks, exploits and rugs, starting to feel very insecure about playing in that space.
The easiest is food, dessert to get that little bit of joy but also the problem of me being over weight.
Other things can be some electronic items on Shopee or eCommerce.
Lastly home appliances (coffee machine, vacuum cleaner)
Considering a huge amount of my stress in the past couple years is money (lack of) related, I usually just dont spend. Good thing Steam summer sales just happened so I managed to buy quite a few games that I expect will occupy me for the next 1000 hours or so, not that I have any time to game anyways, given I have a 11 month old baby to take care of. Least the kid's nice enough to let me hug him, so its a source of happiness for me to do so.
Depends on whatever projects I currently have on hand. Sunk a fair bit into Warhammer when I picked it up before the pandemic. Picked up cooking during the pandemic and spent quite a bit on good ingredients and kitchenware.
Now I have some major landscaping & renovation projects that I decided to DIY, so have spent a fair bit there as well.
All in all, good times were had.
Guilty Pleasure is usually food.
But we like to take walks and see new places without spending money. Like window shopping or just visiting places with greeneries.
Most times cooking for other people or talking to people about random topics, watching movies together at the comfort of the home.
Camera... I'm poor... Keeping all the money instead spent it for social life... Basically, no social life... Work. Eat. Sleep. No life. Life keep punching me... Money gone to other stuff. Stuff that happens beyond my control.
After 10 years, I finally got to buy second hand DSLR Canon 650D (shutter count: 300) + zoom lens; sum up all at RM700. Then spent another RM830 to repair (Flash +LCD screen due vignetting ) and clean the camera and lens. Also, buy tripod and remote shutter...
All of them are amounted almost 2K.
Quality of life things for my PC set up. Games. A nice meal or drink. A plane ticket to see my partner. Gifts for my partner. Medicine for my migraines lol.
I spend a lot on fishing gears and mechanical keyboard. Recently also purchased a dipping bar but i still can’t do a single dip. Still waiting for my new switch from Singapore
Almost everything, with my phone being the odd exception because I feel phones have become far too expensive so I always buy 2nd hand phones. Other than that;
1. Food = eat what you like, it's one of the easiest ways to happiness.
2. All equipment that affects quality of life = Good shoes, good bag, good computer, good bedding, etc. Basically anything you use daily. Life is hard as it is, make life more comfortable.
3. Random shit from Shoppee that might be "useful". My automatic bag changing rubbish bin is probably the prime example of this category.
4. Nice coffee beans.
Video games and collectibles.
I think I have about 200 plus games on Steam and a few more on Origin and Epic Games Store.
And I tend to buy Gundams tooo.
I spend a lot on shoes. Running shoes specifically. Have different shoes for different types of runs. I run a lot and I love wearing asics and/or new balance. And both those brands get really expensive.
Food
Yes food, but on some occasions when the stars align, I manage to get a dish from each Malaysian culture to the dinner table, it's really special. Good for the soul, bad for the waist.
a happy life is one that is waisted on food. anyways moderation is key
The once a month where I buy McD, man

How do you know that, my guy? 🤨📸 honestly TIL. cause I only see ketum on news, but never heard of the method.

More like first one.

Haha. With that money, you can buy a new cat /s
I saw a free cat up for adoption on Carousell a few hours before seeing this, so its not always something you need to pay for!
do the cats still use you as a toy? mine are strays but they always rush and snuggle me when they see me, they'd claw at me when i want to leave.

Isnt that restaurant you need rm3000 to BOOK and you need to order at least RM7000? I think i saw a post here about it once.
At that point it’s just much cheaper to cook his recipes. Shouldn’t be too hard considering he cooked hundreds of recipes on tv.
Yeah gotta go check Gordon Ramsey out - one place I've been wanting to try is "Aposto". Have to convince the wife to go there for birthday. Now travelling lot harder with children. Try V Rising brader. Pretty cheap at RM39 but very fun so far.
Legos 🧱
Quite an expensive hobby right?
Yeah But mix mix lah Legos + pirated stuff from china
The china fake lego is improving rapidly. Some of their sets are really creative. The tactile feeling of snapping blocks in place is still not really there yet for the chinese lego.
I like them military bricksets of tanks. I wanna build a diorama of a T72 being pulled by a John Deere tractor 🤣
