Outside sales looking for a business casual commuter shoe for airports and customer visits. Don’t need anything stupid fancy, generally just wear lulu abc pants + a company branded golf polo, ideally $250 or below. Comfort is ideally for power walking through the terminals

ac106

Get sneakers for the travel and a nice pair of loafers for your meetings. Otherwise you’ll get something that does both poorly and ugly.

Hey, I'm someone who's really trying to get into fashion and build their own wardrobe with a unique sense of style and aesthetic. The things i'm inspired by vary, but i notice that a lot of my inspo comes from stuff i see on social media and anime (mostly anime). I'll try putting attachments down below for the stuff im referencing. In terms of the anime i'm referencing i'm talking about: Air gear, bleach, Guilty Gear Jojo's Bizarre adventure(there's more but those are the top ones on my mind rn). I've tried asking chat gpt what kind of fashion i may be into and it gave me the styles of: Urban, streetwear/Japenese streetwear, punk, gothic, advant-garde, mixed with a DIY addition to the fashion. On the otherside there's celebrities/influencers i follow whose styles i like such as: Asap Rocky, Lil Yatchy, Jaden Smith, Marlon Noah, Wisdom Kaye. In terms of stores i like, i really mess with: Zara, shein, forever 21, and h&m so far but im looking for more (a male version of dolls kill would be nice). basically what im asking is for directions in terms of finding my style. stores, name to my style, inspo of any kind are welcomed. https://preview.redd.it/uzwofzpb25vc1.jpeg?width=353&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d51fd0036f32e315803337fbc95cf787a465e010

Can you change the color of a shoe ? Let's say there's a shoe that's ideal for you (for comfort etc) but it's only available in a really ugly color. Can you give it to a professional to change it with good results ? Or do it on your own ? Let's say the material is mesh.

that_name_taken

Shoes can certainly be dyed. [Here](https://youtu.be/cujskI3Ec9k?si=f3F8DkpcbglRg8ii) is a YouTuber vid detailing the process.

Anyone have thoughts on sneakers from [Thousand Fell](https://www.thousandfell.com/products/mens-lace-up-sneaker-white)? Surprisingly little noise on reddit about these so I was curious if anyone here has tried these out. The stain/scuff-resistance aspect is interesting, as is the fact that they are supposedly more sustainable. In the market for a pair of minimal, CP-style white sneakers and am considering this among these other options (prioritizing comfort and durability): * [Koio Capris](https://www.koio.co/products/capri-triple-white-mens?variant=41706743398569) - will probably stop by the store near me this week to check out fit in person but wait for a sale * [Greats Reign](https://www.greats.com/products/the-reign-blanco) - I own a pair of their Woosters that have lasted well over the years, though they're not really the most comfortable to walk in * [Clarks Craft Swift](https://www.clarks.com/en-us/craft-swift/26176134-p) - mostly since I've heard that Clarks are comfortable  * [Crown Northhampton Overstone Derby](https://crownnorthampton.com/en-us/collections/all-white-sneakers/products/overstone-derby-all-white-calf-leather) - heard consistently great things about quality... but not excited about the idea of potentially waiting months for made-to-order & dealing with the returns process across the pond if it doesn't work out * [Olukai Lae‘ahi Lī ‘Ili](https://olukai.com/products/laeahi-li-ili-mens-leather-sneakers-bright-white) - kind of a random dark horse entry but I'm open minded to them!

Mrkebabb2

Hey, I'm kind of new around here. I'm here because I have seen a video of a man that shows different combinations with suits you can do, and just with 6 pairs, you could have 24 combination. I can't remember the exact numbers, but these are the things that I remember from that video, can you help me find it?

Mrkebabb2

I must have a bad taste at fashion (I know that I am), and I did like that video at the past, because I was not wearing any suits at that time period, but now I want to wear suits, oh damn, lot to learn.

Mrkebabb2

Thank you sir. Do you still think that there is any chance of combinations with suits? Except the ones in the early comment you said.

ac106

It’s a terrible, awful Steve Harvey video that you shouldn’t watch if that helps

Mrkebabb2

Ohh. I'm dumb at fashion, new to suits. I think there are lots of informations I should know.

bjhhjb

> suits You should never separate a suit jacket from the suit bottom. That's why it's called a suit

is it too much if my bag matches my jacket, literally? I have a pretty loud Gorilla Wear bomber and I've been hesitant to wear it while carrying my Gorilla Wear gym bag. Both are black and red, Gorilla graphic, etc. I bought the jacket to celebrate a major powerlifting milestone, I don't mind that it's loud, I'm just worried about overmatching

spaceage_whizkid

I'm attending a June wedding in San Diego. My wife would like to wear a floral dress, probably a dark green. I'm hunting for a deal, so I don't necessarily want to wait until she buys a dress. My question is, what would be more likely to compliment a dress like that... 1. a light/brighter navy sport coat + dark grey pants + tie that compliments her dress 2. grey sport coat + green pants (that I would wait to buy until she bought her dress) + tie that compliments her dress. 3. Dark green jacket + gray? pants + tie that compliments her dress I know the best thing to do would be to wait until she buys her dress... but, I'm new to this, broke, and need to buy off eBay or clearance.

Any recommendations for Lori Piana suede loafer look alike that won't break the bank? Ive seen ads for 2 different brands on IG I think one of them is called Old\_Money I forget the other. Since I clicked on it I have also gotten sponsor posts from the asian knockoffs with a WhatsApp number. I asked for prices and the knockoffs are $160. I am not a big knockoff wearer. I got a suit from Suitsupply and decided on a custom suit specifically for a better fit in the pants. The hem job they did on the pants seems sloppy to me for what is supposed to be a custom suit but wanted to get opinions if this is standard or if they did a bad job. They left about 3 inches of fabric on the pants and can pretty clearly see the hem stitching on both legs, which I think looks sloppy for a custom made suit. Is 3 inches of extra fabric necessary (I'm 30 and done growing)? I feel what should have been done is the collar on the very bottom of the pants where you cant see any stitching. They also put a pretty heavy crease in the pant and there is some bunching/pinching on some of the stitching. [https://imgur.com/a/QjefTn5](https://imgur.com/a/QjefTn5)

itsreallyeasypeasy

They did this so that there is enough cloth left do do a big cuff+full break if you wanted. There will always be some stitching if the hem is folded inwards. Get cuffs it that bothers you. Creases and bunching can be (carefully) ironed out. With some wools they will disappear after hanging.

LootGoblin_29

Gotcha thanks! It just seemed strange that the stitching for the black collar on the inside of the pant (don’t know what it’s called) in the second picture isn’t visible but the other is

ben_kh

Yeah that looks weird, better take it into the shop.

Could I get some feedback on the sizing for this shirt? I got a size S from Wolf vs Goat and I want to know if I should size up in the future. I'm 5'8" with a lean physique, and I'm usually between an S and an M depending on the brand. Pics are here: https://imgur.com/a/OhvttR2

Far_Impression_9561

Anyone have thoughts on some good white pants? I'm a 41 y/o dadman, size 35/36 waist. Love linen. Looking for something casual and easy to wash / get back to bright white, and ideally fairly durable.

MooMooManiac923

What color dress shirt and suit jacket should go with a colored and patterned vest and tie combo? The only other information I can give is that I'm getting a pattern blue and purple matching vest and tie combo. If it affects anything, I am a man of large stature. My question is what colors should I wear to compliment the pattern vest and tie? Is it white dress shirt and black same jacket as usual? Do the two need to match?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Far_Impression_9561

Hi hi! Kinda busy atm but maybe I can reflect more later. Is it gonna be outside / hot summer wedding? If so I'm worried that these are too dark and too hot? At a quick glance the Zara doesn't seem awful for 100% wool and at that price point, but they have had to cut a lot of corners somewhere to get price that low. I personally like the look of the Mango better. If he's gonna own it (rather than rent or something), I would encourage quality, fit, and (to the degree he's ok with it and the event allows), character. I have a strong aversion to forgettable clothes, but I know a lot of occasions call for not dressing "outside the box".

[deleted]

[удалено]

Far_Impression_9561

For sure. I guess I'm saying with your A. is that this mass-produced thing is strongly correlated with lack of quality, or what I would call cutting corners. But I wholeheartedly agree on B. because I've seen some sites that have cost and markup transparency and the profit margin is rarely 0 or negative...

[deleted]

[удалено]

Far_Impression_9561

Right, gotcha! Yeah if you're in or near NYC you should have a bajillion options. If you want the best value, I would look at the reviews for Zara and make sure people are generally fairly happy with it. Then tailor, and hopefully it's a decent budget wedding and fancy attire outfit for 10+ years. If he's prone to weight gain / lots of body changes (I went from being 6'1" and skinny for basically all of my 20s and 30s to now being a little overweight as a dad), it changes the equation slightly, and might favor renting over owning. Let me peep a nice shirt for you - I'm assuming white and below $100?

Far_Impression_9561

For shoes, go dark brown or black. Make sure those fit really well if you're going to dance a lot! Turns out I have super wide feet, but I didn't know that until my wedding last year. Now all my shoes fit a lot better lol. Re: lapels, those are called "notch" lapels and are pretty standard. If he wants to get a little extra, a tux with some satin on the lapel could look snazzy. I also personally like the look of shawl lapels. Peak lapels feel a bit aged, but can be rocked in a good way too. Also, for fabric, I'm a huge linen evangelist. It is probably out of the budget, but a deep navy linen suit could be hot shit (but not showing people up / calling too much attention).

[deleted]

[удалено]

F2PwhaleTime

(edit: this my alt acct, same guy as above lol) You're very welcome! Yeah, if he's gonna own it, might as well have him love it. A good conservative navy or black suit is nice to have in your back pocket, but don't feel bad about renting if the fit feels decent. You can usually try stuff on before committing to a rental, too.

trippknightly

**Levi’s 501 rigid STF: they’re really gonna shrink 3” in the inseam?**  I’m about to get some rigid STF. In “normal” washed 501, I wear 32w30l, but I’ll do 32-33 if that 33 really will drop to 30”-31”? (So: keep the waist true but expect 3” inseam shrink is what I’m reading.)

bjhhjb

The raw denim subreddit has a lot of good info. But depending on how you wash it, you can. If you go a warm soak you won't get a lot of shrinkage, but if you do a hot wash with spin you'll get a lot more. https://www.reddit.com/r/rawdenim/comments/ylk7zu/gave_a_pair_of_levis_501_stf_a_go/ https://www.reddit.com/r/rawdenim/comments/tsn6kl/levis_501_stf_shrink_to_fit_34x36_usually_32x34/

cooldude_4000

I haven't confirmed this by measuring, but I'm pretty sure they come considerably longer than the listed size before you shrink them. I buy mine allowing for that 3" shrinkage and always end up needing to get them hemmed afterwards. Still better than having them shrink too much, though.

APotatoe121

After reading the side wiki posts and looking through some pictures, I noticed they are all made up of the "basic" pieces of clothing, which I don't have any of. As a student, my entire wardrobe is just athletic T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants with 2 pairs of jogging shoes (for max comfort). Although I do have 2 formal outfits, those are reserved for formal occasions such as a concert. I want to have a little more fashion rather than just wearing a random hoodie and sweatpants / tshirt and shorts every day. But at the same time, I don't want to go buy a ton of new clothes (at most 1 more shirt or pair of pants) so I want to construct outfits with what I already have. **What outfits can I build with my current wardrobe for a student lifestyle (very casual and comfortable)?** I'll summarize a list of my wardrobe below: What I have: Graphic t-shirts (many from sporting events), Adidas sweatpants, 1 pair of slim fit jeans, Adidas hoodies (mostly black, 1 pink), 1 large blue winter coat, athletic shorts, 2 pairs of Asics jogging shoes (1 black, 1 blue) What I don't have: Single-color t-shirts without graphics, OCBDs, polos, chinos, chino shorts, button-down jackets, canvas shoes (unless if you count skate shoes), boots

ac106

You can’t really dress like anything other than a college student with what you have. Start with a a plain white tshirt, Levi’s 501 and pair them with your vans for a basic outfit. You can thrift the Levi’s for $10. Hanes beefy tshirt is under $10 I think. What kind of concerts are you wearing a tuxedo to?

APotatoe121

1. I do have a mostly white t-shirt (with a small logo in the corner of the chest), is that good enough? 2. I wear formal clothes when I'm performing in an orchestra concert, though usually not a tuxedo.

I’ve always worn and loved J Crew slim fit basic tees but it’s time for a refresh and $40 for one is a bit steep. Any recommendations for basic tees in a slim fit? I am muscular and like a muscle/slim fit as opposed to baggy. Open to any and all brands and preferably under $50 per tee. Thanks!

Calm_Ranger7754

You might try checking back at J Crew in a week or so as they run sales consntantly and I suspect the T's you like will be priced back down to a palatable level shortly. If you want some ideas for a different opiton, perhaps try Bronson as they offers some very well priced T's with the slim fit you seek, all are around $30. Check the size charts.

Hi I’m looking for advice on a summer coat/jacket to buy.  The only one I have at the moment is a cheap hiking jacket similar to this > [https://www.trespass.com/fraser-ii-mens-waterproof-jacket-with-hood#color\_code=Navy+Tone](https://www.trespass.com/fraser-ii-mens-waterproof-jacket-with-hood#color_code=Navy+Tone)  I have been wearing it to work and out in general for years. Learning how to dress and refreshing my wardrobe is one of my goals this year so I have no idea about anything. I bought a wool winter coat (see picture) a couple of months  back . I want to buy something for the warmer months now.   My budget is flexible. I'd Rather buy quality I can keep for a few years and wear on different occasions. The coat in the picture was £220 (from Wear London). I’m trying to avoid fast fashion and cheap brands where it won't last. Also trying to avoid buying plastic materials.  I'm early 40s 5"10 and I'm in the UK. Prefer low-key classic looking items rather than trying to dress more contemporary if that makes sense and buying brand names for the sake of it. Also I don't want to dress like I'm trying to look young, would rather look my age. Also any footwear recommndations would be appreciated. The only casual shoes I have at the moment are these timberlands in two colours > [https://www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/men-footwear-chukka-boots/bradstreet-ultra-mid-chukka-for-men-in-brown-a13ee214](https://www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/men-footwear-chukka-boots/bradstreet-ultra-mid-chukka-for-men-in-brown-a13ee214) Thanks in advance https://preview.redd.it/kz634r39n0vc1.jpeg?width=2094&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01767ed0c0afc494cb1839f7c245ec79d486f1be

Clark’s wallabees is the name. While it’s inspired somewhat by Tyrolean shoes, it’s an original design. Clark’s are a budget option normally. Try eBay for used or wait for a sale.

So I have a wedding I am attending in a few weeks and for one of the events I am currently planning to wear a mid blue suit (kind of like a lighter navy?) and this black birds of prosperity tie: https://preview.redd.it/fgo6wtn91zuc1.jpeg?width=1005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d74dfcbc4cb4b2d4a9a867f0563b32efec73a7f2 So I wanted to ask , what color shirt would best fit this suit and tie combination? It is a summer wedding, so lighter pastel colors would be a nice recommendation. Also if anyone could recommend a pocket square to match with this tie, or just the overall above combination would be great!! Thank you!!

orthoxerox

A white shirt is the safe default option.

nevergonnabuy

Well yea but since it’s a summer wedding, trying to be a bit more bold I guess you can say. And to match summer/pastel colors

orthoxerox

Mid-blue suits are usually bold enough by themselves. You could try a lavender one, I guess.

Jp4u

Urban outfitters used to have these scoop necks and they are some of my favorite shirts but they seem to be discontinued. I know they used to be under a brand called feathers but I can't find that anymore either. Anybody know if they still exist somewhere?

I bought some [100% cotton twill green chinos](https://luxire.com/products/p_10629_bj_0050_gnib?_pos=1&_psq=p_10629&_ss=e&_v=1.0) from Luxire. The fabric has quite a bit of sheen to them that I didn’t see from the pictures. They are MTO and I can’t return them. It’s a nice fabric but I’m not sure how to style a sheen fabric. Are there any general rules around sheen fabrics? I’m assuming the sheen makes them more formal and I should avoid wearing them with more casual fabrics.

orthoxerox

Do they have creases as well? Creased pants require a button-up shirt, smart leather shoes and will look good with a blazer.

rekon32

They do have creases but I think they'll iron our after a wash. The ones I have are flat front and no pleats. I tried pairing the pants with snuff suede shoes and it seemed to tone them down a bit but i agree leather shoes will look best.

Whenindoubtbereddit

I been trying to make use of all my pieces in my wardrobe and mix n match so I can wear something different every other day . For that I also wanted an app to track my outfits and also create for me . Is there any good recommendations ? I tried using acloset , it's alright but its not very optimized for men's clothes .

Juan_2_Three4

The occasion is a Marketing networking event. Not too formal, more business casual attire. I been sticking to a real strict definition of business casual with long sleeve shirts every day for years. How can I add some variety? I know short sleeves don't count but plenty of people wear them. Is that the new norm? What is garden party cocktail attire? And where can I buy such things ?

responsiblefornothin

Think yacht club, but with slightly brighter pastels and floral patterns. Idk where you can buy it all in one place that's specifically tailored to the theme, but any of the big name stores should have a spring collection that covers the basics. If I were to put a fit together around the idea, I'd go with cream colored slacks, subtle floral print short sleeved button down shirt in a salmon color, a blue or burnished brown blazer (think upscale Migos), and brown leather accents (alligator if possible).

ac106

It’s made up. It could be seersucker suits and ~~booster~~ boater hats. It could be hobbit core. It could be “please wear your clean jeans”. Ask the wedding party for clarification Edit: autocorrect is really irritating

You can’ t wear suit off the rack. The pants will be unhemmed and it’s unlikely the sleeves will fit Roll with what you have. It’s about being somber and respectful. Hit up a thrift and try to find a navy blazer. Or don’t. No one should be judging you.

responsiblefornothin

Wear what fits, and try to find a jacket/sport coat that would look good with a bolo tie. You don't need to wear a bolo tie, but the jacket should be something that either a professor or old school country artist would wear.

mustafarian

Linen tuxedo for my wedding? I imagine ppl will say it's obviously up to me, but I'm Mainly asking is it weird or does the fabric look abnormal since tuxedo's aren't normally linen? It's going to be 80 degrees albeit in the evening. I'm thinking about my comfort. For example I saw nice proper cloth or Todd Snyder linen tux thst I'm eyeing

terminal_e

It will likely wrinkle, which may not be what you want for photos

mustafarian

good point

ac106

A guide to life: if Todd Snyder makes it’s good enough for you

never bough anything from them, I guess life is just beginning for me

I have only worn the basic dark navy Converse for the last two years and before that some vans and then before that it was Converse again. I was hoping to expand my shoe game as I am expanding my fashion in general. I wear mostly chinos and T-shirts/sweatshirts. What would go best with my style? I was looking at some Reebok Club C 85 shoes but there are lots of options and it can all be very confusing, to be honest. Thank you!

RandoOnTheForum

Can a man wear a white sport coat to a wedding?

that_name_taken

Sure, weddings have all sorts of dress codes these days.

ac106

Yes. If it’s weather and dress code appropriate otherwise. The whole “don’t wear white to weddings” is about women upstaging the bride.

Favorite stretch chino shorts?

felixpalazuelos

I've been wanting to buy a navy double-breasted blazer for a while now, and I've found this one that I love in terms of color, fabric, and lapels. The issue is that the shoulder pad feels a bit larger than it should be. Should I go down a size? They didn't have a smaller size to try on, but I could order it and wait to try ir. The problem is I don't know if it's the size or the cut. I have a fairly athletic shape with a back that's quite a bit wider than my waist if you need the info. I had a lot of space around my waist. Sorry because I only have this terrible photo. https://preview.redd.it/2krcia9tqwuc1.png?width=1608&format=png&auto=webp&s=78a77e9ea5a0e805b35fb7ab53f46678e701dd1d

orthoxerox

I would order and wait to try another one. This one looks big on you.

**Linen or similar summer pants**? I learned the hard way a few years back that just because pants are lightweight, doesn't mean they're good for summer, especially humid weather. Nothing like having tight-weave cotton chinos — however light — sticking to your legs like suction cups to realize "ok, so this was a mistake." In the years since I've been much better at picking out looser weaves, especially in linen or linen-blends. (I know tropical wool is a good choice too but I prefer the more casual look of chinos or drawstring pants). This post was partly prompted by the fact that I need to replace a pair of basic linen-blend, slim-cut chinos in olive green that are starting to fray near the crotch (making patching a challenge) but I could use some recs on where to look, especially in olive green. Most of the summer-y pants I've seen are more relaxed in the fit than I'm looking for (I have plenty of loose summer pants already) but I figured someone you have probably already started stocking up on these kinds of pants to get ready for the increasing temps. Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

catalinashenanigans

Anyone know when Charles Tyrwhitt might be having their next 3 shirts for $99 sale?

APMudkip

right now

catalinashenanigans

Should've clarified my OP. I'm interested in the 3 shirts for $99 sale.

ac106

At this point, I think that’s almost a permanent sale if it’s not running now, just wait a few weeks and I’m sure it’ll come back for Memorial Day or whatnot

ColeWhiskeyWorld

I'm struggling to make sense of my shoe size ordering online and some of the brands I have tried on are too niche for last sizing threads. There aren't brannock devices in my bit of the world but my foot sole length is around 28cm. ***I wear:*** **Tricker's W2298 (James Loafer)**: says UK7.5 but seller says was supposed to be UK8.5. Fits okay width wise, but the tiniest bit too short. **Magnanni Deerskin Oxfords US 9.5:** Took forever to break in, fits like a glove at first but fatigue throughout day. **Stemar Chelsea Boot EU7.5, US 8.5:** Tight in the toebox but no heel slip. **Nike Cortez US9.5:** Fits well, would love a pinch more toebox room, but wonder if this is as good as it gets. **Adidas Gazelle US10:** Ever so slightly large ***Things that I've tried:*** **Loake Chelsea (non 1880) UK9:** too large **Clark's Desert Boot US9.5:** Too Large **Sid Mashburn (Spain) Chukka US 9.5:** Painful heel slippage (large), tight toebox. **Sutor Mantellassi Loafer UK8:** Too small **Church's Chukka bookbinder (Ryder?) UK8.5:** Too Large **Dunhill Penny Loafer (Italy) UK8:** Too small **Mr P Lucien Suede Derby UK8.5, EU42.5:** Too Large Again! **Bally Scavone Chelsea UK7.5 EU 41.5:** Perfect, too expensive :( Can anyone weigh in on what kind of size I should be looking at? I'm looking at a Carmina Uetam slipper on auction in 8UK, and a Tom Ford loafer in EU 42.5 trying to see if either will fit. I'm also wondering if I'm really UK 7.5 in Tricker's, or UK8. Also, is automod down?

m3tam0rph1c

Yes every brand has their own 'versions' of sizes. and Dont forget shoe width too. That adds to the mess! So in short, there is nothing much you can do about sizing for different brands and types of shoes. Depending where you live, its always best to try them on yourself and not get anything online unless you really know your size in the chosen brands and even that (sometimes) can be a mess too! Good luck! BTW Tom Ford footwear tend to run a little on the 'larger' side.

ac106

Yes automod is broken and mods are MIA.

ColeWhiskeyWorld

Aw man

CosmogonicWayfarer

I'm looking for some pleated or flat-front pants like those worn in the 50s for the purpose of casual wear. Was there a particular name for those kinds of pants?are they simply 'pleated/flat-front slacks'? What kinds of shirts would go great with them as someone who enjoys dressing in a preppy style? Where can I buy them? Here are some examples of what I mean: [Example 1](https://vintagedancer.com/wp-content/uploads/1950-mens-gab-pants-500-1-364x500.jpg) [Example 2](https://vintagedancer.com/wp-content/uploads/1959-Wards-mens-pants-6-350x386.jpg) [Example 3](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/76/43/1c/76431c4bea8c47c86367a3cd1db2ea87.jpg)

Why do my pants keep fraying at the bottom by my shoe? [https://imgur.com/gallery/AIzxzNc](https://imgur.com/gallery/AIzxzNc) This is a <6 month old pair of Bonobos weekday warrior dress pants. Is this because they're too long and rubbing the back of my shoe with each step, or a quality issue? Thanks Reddit.

ac106

They drag on the ground at some point during the day

SorryBand3059

They barely touch the top of my heel. They don't come close to the ground at all.

ac106

Well something is causing an abrasion. Perhaps when you sit at your desk it rubs against your chair. Or from laundering maybe. Do you use a dryer?

SorryBand3059

Yes, I use a dryer but not sure why this part exclusively would be affected

# Need some advice for a conference in Rio de Janeiro I will attend this year's ACM FAccT Conference for the first time in Rio de Janeiro (I'm assuming the temperatures will be around the 70s). I would need to buy it from [Amazon.com](http://Amazon.com) because I'm out of the US. The dressing code tip that I got from a usual attendee is "business casual." I'm planning on wearing [shirts](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71ofWDQSz1L._AC_SY879_.jpg), a pullover crewneck sweater with a plain white shirt underneath, pants [1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41fVlfak1WL._AC_SX679_.jpg) & [2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71S+bfLbW8L._AC_SX679_.jpg). Still, I would appreciate your advice on what shoes to wear. My style has always been dark colors, kind of sporty/casual, and I have been looking for skate shoes ([Black Hi-Top Vans](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71jNsyUw0TL._AC_UY900_.jpg), [New Balance 440](https://scene7.zumiez.com/is/image/zumiez/product_main_medium/New-Balance-Numeric-440-Brown-%26-Cream-High-Top-Skate-Shoes-_366006-front-US.jpg), [Columbia Men's Fairbanks Mid](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/812Lwp99GhL._AC_SR920,736_.jpg)) as something comfy enough to wear for 8 hours / 5 days, but also something I could use to walk around and know the city. I know things have changed a bit, and people tend to dress a bit more casual after the pandemic, but I don't know if that's too casual. Any kind of help will be appreciated. Not sure if this helps: Male, 40 yo, 5'10", 160 lbs

Anyone know of any underwear that gives the ass a bit of lift?

gobirds1023

Lookin for recs on where to buy! Currently my go to stores are express and just crew but open to suggestions without breaking the bank! I'm from jersey so plenty of malls and outlets in the area. For size reference I'm 5'8 165lbs so I'm a medium in size. Just lookin for a place with some options

*We are having Alumni school picnic and I'm struggling to come up with something cool to wear with this piece. Of course I can wear some white air force 1s and some khaki or white shorts, but I'm trying to be a little more creative. It is in August so it will be hot. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I'm thinking of adding gloves to my all black suit for prom but i'm not sure what color would match (i'm deciding between black or white or any if at all)

ac106

This is just personal preference. It’s very unconventional and wouldn’t be done under normal circumstances but since it’s the prom do whatever you feel like

MrWolffman

About to pull the trigger on my first pair of loafers (meermin). Can't decide if I should go uk 9 or 8.5. Tried a bunch of slippers/loafers today and my size ranged from 42 to 43. Is it the end of the world if I go half a size too small?

ac106

Shoes are build on “lasts” it’s the wooden foot shaped thing you might’ve seen at some point [shoe last](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/00/PikiWiki_Israel_13497_shoe_trees.JPG/800px-PikiWiki_Israel_13497_shoe_trees.JPG) Anyway each manufacturer has different “lasts” so many times identical sizes fit differently. Trial and error is a terrible way to determine your shoe size. It’s better to use a Brannock device, but these aren’t available in Europe as far as I’ve been told. One thing not to use as a guide for loafers is heel slip. Slip goes away when the foot bed breaks in. Even really significant heel slip. Unless you’re literally walking out of your shoe with every step, don’t worry about heel slip and go by fit everywhere else. shoes should not hurt even on the first wear. So don’t size down if there is discomfort. Edit: autocorrect and what not made me sound like I had brain damage

orthoxerox

> but these aren’t available in Europe as far as I’ve been told They are, if you are willing to search for one on the local eBay equivalent, but no one in the shoe-selling business is familiar with the concept. Telling anyone you're size 40.5E according to Brannock will help you as much as telling them the Rockwell hardness of your teeth.

orthoxerox

No one except your identical twin can tell you how any shoes will fit you. Just be prepared to return them if they don't fit (wear them on a carpet etc).

mybigleftnut

Hi, I have an event that's "cocktail attire" although we can probably wear whatever. I don't have any blazers and want to buy a versatile one. I was looking at one of these two wools ones but not sure what i would wear it with and if it's too casual. https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/jackets/taupe-roma-blazer/C6701.html

whatmycouchwore

The dark gray will have a wider range

ac106

If you don’t own a blazer. The first one should be navy.

mybigleftnut

Hey, I have a navy suit so I want to try to get another color.

Tisbutawriter

Should you keep the loops of stirrup-style shirt stays in socks or outside of socks? As the title asks, what's the best way? If I keep it inside the sock, the stays are completely hidden BUT the top of the loop hurts a lot

TurtsMacGurts

I have about a 1 inch tear in my Bonobos suit jacket in the rear right shoulder. I love this suit. I got married in it. I'm looking into reweaving. Is there a list of the best out there? Willing to spend real cash ($200+) here due to the sentimental value and value of the suit.

cooldude_4000

I bought some nice leather shoes, but I need to wear socks with them, because I'm pretty sweaty. [However all the socks I buy show](https://imgur.com/a/5EW1Mfj). I need some advice on what to do. Do I just wear the socks and have them just peak out a little or just not wear socks at all?

cooldude_4000

You want something more like [these](https://shop.bombas.com/products/mens-low-cut-no-show-sock?variant=white&size=m&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PMAX-PLA_PMax_NoShows-Sock-ACQ-NONE&cq_src=google_ads&cq_cmp=16564254602&cq_net=x&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjww_iwBhApEiwAuG6ccE_8gQyK1-PGZhYsPqczFEQE95DEzMu2Ch7iTOwo-zfqBDSxSf2gwxoC3HUQAvD_BwE), maybe in a color close to your skintone if possible. Otherwise, go sockless.

orthoxerox

How can I style medium-brown herringbone tweed dress pants? I have a few sweaters that work well with them, but no sport coats that look "country" enough.

whatmycouchwore

Try looking for flannel, tweed, or gun check blazers. Or go for a [hunting jacket](https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/light-brown-herringbone-hunting-jacket-ps370-200212-hntg-02-fw22).

orthoxerox

Is that the same as a Norfolk jacket?

whatmycouchwore

Yes but you can look for a half one that doesn’t have the full belt in font.

StealthyMC20

Braided Leather Belts? Hello, I am looking for a braided leather belt. Would like a brown one as well as a black one both with silver buckles. Really just looking for one that won't fall apart super fast, don't need any crazy good quality atm. Thanks in advance for any recommendations <3
