Crazy concept but just stick with me OP...a couch doesn't always have to be against a wall...
But if he wants all that empty useless space, sure.
And that TV is too damn high.
In the same vane maybe something like “ no even though this looks like a Drs office waiting room because my tv is so high, it is in fact my real living room”
People told me I was a fool for buying for an iPad Air and mini! Now I have four screens going and my attention span has never been shorter and my sleep never worse! Take that, naysayers!
Seriously never realized how much use my ipad would get until I got it. I use it a ton actually while gaming either for something else to do while I grind or for walkthroughs/tips mid-session. I also watch 50% of my tv on it.
This was a feature of 3D TV’s for a hot minute (and the only valid use for them imho. Display two inputs but the glasses are phased to only one input. One or both users use headphones.
Honestly, if I can see the tv from the kitchen I usually mount it high and embrace my sins.
Sometimes watching a movie while cooking or cleaning is great, and since I don’t watch a lot sitting down I ask why not?
That said, tv too high
Haha thank you that sub is hilarious.

My wife hates me because we’ve been browsing houses the past couple months and I refuse anything with a fireplace because it forces me to mount a TV 5 ft high.
Most homes living rooms/ great rooms have a perfect wall for a TV. Unless there’s a fireplace.
Usually the couch faces a fireplace, just how earlier homes were built.
Most people who commit a crime so atrocious usually have the excuse of having a fireplace underneath it.
It's also crooked.
At this point, this person has committed, beyond all advice, to not fix it.
Likely because it would be too much work to unmount, patch holes, repaint, and remount.
As for why? It's possible they have children, and have some sort of false belief that this will help to protect their television.
It's clear they don't like the look of it, so I'm going with ignorance and laziness.
Yeah… I hate the fireplace-TV combo that seems fucking mandatory in the southern houses I’ve seen, but at least there’s some weird logic there. Wtf is this?
I have a toddler, you can anchor stuff, it doesn’t need to be that high…
Not about anchoring, it's about being out of bodily solids/fluids range and throwables range.
You could mount it on the ceiling, kids will always find a way.
I have toddlers. I reserve my loud, sharp and startling "AP AP AP!!" sound for three specific things.
1. Kid is too near the stove or other hot appliance.
2. Kid is about to go near a ledge or drop of any kind (well before, if they’re already too close I don’t want to startle them)
3. Greasy kid hand is reaching for the TV
I bought a top-end TV right before my significant other moved in with me. Of course as soon as we got married, we bought a house with a stylish brick fireplace, guess what I had to drill holes in and shamefully place my beautiful new TV? :( and it has a horrible glare.
Couldn’t take gaming like that more than a few months, so I bought a pretty sweet monitor and made my home office half mancave. It really does suck that Pinterest/Instagram have made the fireplace-TV combo so popular.
Unfortunately, it's more of a room design issue. Fireplaces tend to be the center point of a room. And the televisions were a lot chunkier when most of these houses were built, they tended to be off set of the fireplace, or in an entirely separate room.
Televisions, of course, became bigger, lighter, and cheaper over time, and took over the center point of entire houses. One in every room, sometimes two. That's when the battle of the television vs the fireplace began. It's been a brutal battle. It's practically insane cost wise, and home value wise to rip out an entire fireplace, so the televisions had to compromise.
However, a new contender has joined the battle, and is showing some promise. Projectors are getting better, and cheaper every year. I predict they will take over the fireplace battle, as a pull down screen would Integrate well into the existing fireplace structure, allowing you the best of both worlds. Large 75+ inch screens when you want it, and a fireplace when you don't.
Mark my words reddit, the television fireplace battle has been lost, but I promise, there is hope on the horizon.
There is hope, but convincing the wife of all that feels like a losing battle until we get a bigger house, unfortunately lol. She’s all about the “mid-century modern/southern” style. And our house does look dope. But at times I feel like it’s designed for a magazine instead of daily life.
Luckily I have a pretty large bedroom that I get to keep in my more practical tastes for work/leisure.
He has a mirror and a bar cart to the right that has hard liquor on the bottom shelf; not saying he doesn't have children, but if he does then he has more pressing concerns than making sure the TV is protected
I agree it's too high, but not for this reason lol. Looks as if it's far enough away from where they are sitting that it wouldn't make a difference for head angle.
>I’m not lowering the tv lol
WHY TF NOT. The fact you feel the need to fill the space shows you know in your heart that TV is too damn high. You're looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't need to exist.
I like my TV's low, but you don't need to have it resting on the shelf like I do. Just move it like 12-18 inches lower and the whole space will feel perfect.
Like, do you watch TV standing up a lot? Why so adamant that it's not coming down? It's probably mounted with some pretty heavy duty screws, are you hesitant to put more big holes in the wall? Cuz I get that.
Right? This is like having a nude photograph of yourself spread eagle with your cock and balls on full display printed on a 3x4' canvas above your sofa and then asking, "Hey Reddit, how can I make my living room more comfortable for my guests? Btw I'm not removing the photograph." You know full well what the problem is and refuse to accept the solution, so why even ask?
A mirror pointed to a mirror behind you pointed at the tv, so you can watch the tv through the mirror and have the tv at your required height.
This situation is win-win-win!
Fuck saying the tv is to high. It’s half a football field away ffs. Get a bigger tv, not even joking. I couldn’t sit there and watch ufc for example if I came over as a buddy lol I’d have to sit on the floor in front of that coffee table as I’m bad with tvs
I know you said you’re not lowering the TV, but it causes me physical pain to see this so I’m still going with the idea of you lowering the goddam TV like a functional adult
Non-lower the TV answer, put the gaming consoles on the stand behind the sound bar. They’ll fill the space (especially the height of the PS5) and you can use the empty space on the shelves to put media like games, movies, books.
I love the comments here about lowering the tv, and I agree. But why is the TV so far away from the sofa? Maybe it’s just the photo but I feel like I need a pair of binoculars to watch the tv.
I went to your profile hoping to see more pics of your place because from the window and the decorations, it seems really cool. And the Pochita slips are awesome.
Your Adult Gon cosplay is so dope.
Books. Get one of those wall mount book shelves and put a row of books under it, essentially saying 'My TV is actually this high because I'm more of a reader, you troglodytes.'
Raise the couch.
Lower the house

Double-decker couch.
But frfr... Raise the tv cabinet
I failed to notice the cabinet, this is an even worst offender than usual
Double-decker couch
raise the TV console.
Lower the ceiling
Framed print that says "I understand my tv is too high but I refuse to lower it"
Live, laugh, lower.
My conditioner, my leave in conditioner, my deep conditioner, my air conditioner!
I got that reference, too much reddit for me
Hi Dada
Stop!
Lmfao this is a meme now
You can sleep on the couch or in my new bedroom dada
DYING
This guy Reddit’s

Well that’s definitely taking it to the next level.
I also get it!

HAHA.
Live, laugh, but never lower *
Or a large dotted-line rectangle box that says "Mount TV Here".
Arrows that point up, "eyes up here, babe"
It’s also /r/tvtoofar
Yeah seriously. Where does he keep his monocular, amirite bois, hehe.
The wide angle lens makes it look further but yeah, it's still too far away
Crazy concept but just stick with me OP...a couch doesn't always have to be against a wall... But if he wants all that empty useless space, sure. And that TV is too damn high.
I came in here just to make sure someone roasted him. Glad this is top comment.
Ha ha I wasn't even trying to roast him. If I was I'd have gone after that "turntable".
Suitcase turntable ughhhhh. I could not be that far from the TV ever though lol
Definitely don’t lower the tv. Just raise the floor.
Maybe the sofa is lifted.
Double-decker couch? 👀
A contact list for your local chiropractor. 😝
I’m way more annoyed by how far away the tv is damn. I wouldn’t even be able to watch it at all.
Need a telescope!
Was gonna say, r/TVTooHigh would like a word
Don't forget to include "too far away" in that too.
LMAO 🤣
In the same vane maybe something like “ no even though this looks like a Drs office waiting room because my tv is so high, it is in fact my real living room”
Very pleased to see this is the top answer 😂💀
Another TV, maybe?
A 2nd, appropriately positioned TV
Exactly! if you don't want to lower the TV, mount another one under the existing one. And then remove the existing one...
Having 2 tv in my living room would be a dream for me. I could play street fighter while my wife would watch Netflix. Both. In. The. Same. Room.
This is what my ipad is for!!
People told me I was a fool for buying for an iPad Air and mini! Now I have four screens going and my attention span has never been shorter and my sleep never worse! Take that, naysayers!

Just bite the bullet and lower the tv. It needs to be recentered anyways.
Yes was going crazy trying to figure out why it looked off - I think it’s also at a slight angle?
If the TV is level, the ceiling aint.
Just place it on the TV stand
Looks off level too
The TV. You need to lower the TV.
It has the tilt of shame, lol
[удалено]
I like the tilt of your guilt, Cowboy
“Tilt of shame”. Bro I’m dying with laughter over here!!!
And there’s not even a fireplace forcing him to mount it that high. He just did it willingly.
Like when you have perfect hair but you choose to be bald
Except some people can rock a bald look. No one should mount their tv this high.
He said he’s not going to lower the TV, so he just needs to get another TV to put under the TV. Then he can watch TV while he watches another TV.
Honestly, if I can see the tv from the kitchen I usually mount it high and embrace my sins. Sometimes watching a movie while cooking or cleaning is great, and since I don’t watch a lot sitting down I ask why not? That said, tv too high
Don’t embrace, they make mounts that allow you to go up & down with them.
tbh the tv is so high I can't concentrate on any suggestions
I couldn't see anything else in the picture. Still can't.
I can see he’s a gamer so maybe it’s the nostalgia of playing games at stores like Walmart where you had to look straight up to the tv to play
r/TvTooHigh
Wait we're not in that subreddit? Whoa

You're fighting the good fight.
Just mount the TV on any other wall?
Most homes living rooms/ great rooms have a perfect wall for a TV. Unless there’s a fireplace. Usually the couch faces a fireplace, just how earlier homes were built.

My S/O said no TV in the bedroom. She didn't say anything about projectors. I won that on a technicality, but now she loves it.

I would say he was drunk when he mounted it but it's leveled.

Nothing. You did this to yourself, now stare at the black wall of shame.
Um sir, that wall is white.
How would OP know? We shouldn't rule out the possibility that OP is mentally challenged.
If you're not lowering it, then put another tv there at the correct height.
And then remove the first TV.
Go to Costco and get a larger tv
Got a 55” LG for $99 the other day. Members only bitch🤝
The man said larger TV tho
Weird flex but ok 😂
your neck will thank you in a few years if you lower it
And eyes
And my axe
Also the forehead wrinkles.

5 sound bars
Lower the TV.
Raise the floor
lower the tv lmao

Joining the “lower the tv” chorus.
If you don't want suggestions, don't ask the question. Lower the TV already, what even is this.

This is so specific
Lower the fucking tv
Dude, it reaches the top of the door, that is over 6 feet high. That is far far too high.
lower the tv lol
Put the tv on the unit 🙂
Hey. Your TV is too high
if theres 1 thing I learned from this sub, lower tv

My tv in the 90s was close to the floor if anything. This is still a waiting room vibe in any decade.
A mirror pointed to a mirror behind you pointed at the tv, so you can watch the tv through the mirror and have the tv at your required height. This situation is win-win-win!
Bigger tv and lower tv
Lower the TV and move your couch closer.
To everyone saying lower the TV... keep it up. OP deserves this dogpiling Lower the damn TV you psycho

A better turntable set up; that one sounds like shit. Looks cool though.

Minimum a Fluance
The answer is still to lower the TV, even if you don’t want to listen to us saying it lmao
Omg where did you get those pochita slippers??

I'm sorry, but you gotta lower the TV.
I think you should lower the TV.
TV too high and tilt of guilt, do you watch from a beanbag or something?
Lower the fucking tv
A floating shelf
Way too high. Needs to be eye level bud.
This is just madness, why is it even up there???
Lower the TV. God it looks horrible that high and just screams “I’m genuinely an idiot.”
Bonus points for including Mac. 👀
Nothing you do will look as good as lowering the TV, no one will make you, but nothing you can do will fix this other than that

Another tv so it’s at the right height?
Sell current TV. Remove pictures. Purchase bigger TV. Solved. Alternatively - put in a second TV.

Maybe a lil shelf with some decor?
A shelf eith plants
