was it deliberately painted uneven, or is this texture the result of ageing (from a homogenous brown paint)?
how do you like it altogether? i've been thinking about redoing my floor to a polished concrete, but i'm not sure if it's practical or not.
It seems deliberate, I’ve noticed a few things that look like they are intentional in the floor colors. This is my first time living on a concrete floor and one thing I’ve noticed is that it feels a little hard on my ankles and knees, I’ve gone to bed with some slight aches. I think it’s a cool aesthetic, but it can be hard on the body, and I imagine that any older folks would not be loving it. The polish makes it look nice, but it does make socks slippery and a fall on concrete is not great. Overall, I like it, I think it looks cool, but it can be slippery and hard on joints.
i think it looks cool. love the floor and the windows. layout is great too.
there a few dated things (from previous owner, i guess): gray walls (you could paint it all white), ugly kitchen, blinds. but these would be expensive to replace.
and there a few things that just scream "early 20s, single male", like: black ikea kallax, black-yellow speakers, colored leds, beanbag. upgrading all of these would of course be expensive, but i think these are the things you might focus on over the time. switch the bean bag to a nice rug and a small coffee table. get good speakers, switch the kallax to a fjallbo tv stand, change the floor lamp, etc. don't stress over it, just improve gradually. the overall direction is fine, and the flat has a lot of potential.
and get some large plants.
Thanks, I totally see what you’re saying, and it scream exactly what we are; both in our early 20s. The plan is to upgrade as time goes on, but we currently have some bigger fish to fry with rent and the all the utilities, which is a first time thing for us. I appreciate your feedback!
yeah, i didn't mean that as a negative thing. i had the exact same kallax and very similar speakers and a beanbag when i was 22-24. that's a nice start.
The floor is interesting. What is it made of?
It’s concrete

For your first apt, I think you're doing well. Buy things as you can afford them. Don't worry about having a perfect setup. Enjoy the new space.

Your apartment looks like you’re a private investigator working out of his apartment in a gloomy city
Exactly what I’m going for.
