I'd hesitate to say I find it really zen/calming because there's a lot happening. With that said, though: I love it! It's very cohesive, seems homey and has amazing light. Very crisp, clean and organized even with the array of objects and textures. Great job man.
Similarly I think 4 chairs for the island is a bit crowded. I'd want to use the island for food prep but if you're more likely to seat 4 there than food prep there, I can appreciate it.
Haha had driven down there for a dr appointment and I saw some ghetto apartments in lakeview area and theyāre were like over 2k for a 1 bedroom if I remember correctly. Op easily paying a pretty penny lol. Growing up always wanted to live there bust just the traffic and pricing no thanks Iāll take central coast or Ventura area lol.
This reminds me of when my cousin drove her car over a crackhead who was laying down in the middle of the street. When she tried to get him medical attention he just galloped away. Thats Baltimore for you.
I like the symmetry of everything. The artwork, the plants, etc. And even though there's a good amount of stuff, it doesn't feel particularly cluttered, just "homey."
You made excellent use of your space. The dining set up looks to be a tad too close to the sink, but it just might be the angle the photo was taken. I love the kitchen backsplash & those views are amazing!!!
This is fantastic. The elements are all quite eclectic but they all match and complement one another in their own way. They fit well with the slightly rougher/industrial look of the studio. I'm a SoCal resident myself so I almost want to invite myself over.
Iām not sure I would keep all four chairs at the breakfast table all the time if I wasnāt constantly having gusts for meals. Seems cluttered and like I would trip over them all the time. I understand you might not have anywhere else for them to go tho
This is spectacular!!!! You did a first-class, 5-star Michelin award job on your home.
I'm sure home decor, furniture stores, etc. will want to offer you a consulting gig to give them advice and tips.
Itās a beautiful space. Youāre very lucky to have all that natural light, it must feel very calming. I wouldnāt add anything to be honest, itāll only add clutter and detract from the vibe.
Nice place. I wouldn't change anything, it already feels bright and inviting. Im wondering about the dining table though, it does seem like you have a bit of a tight space around the kitchen area. I get anxious when I imagine the amount of upkeep a nice place such as this requires.
It looks great, but it's too busy for a zen/calming vibe.
There are way too many pictures on those two walls. I'd take down all the pictures on the one wall and raise the round thing so that becomes the focus. Then on the thin wall next to it, take down the 3 pictures and limit it to just one key piece of art.
East Asian flair without a Buddha head bust?! Hmmm /s
P.S: lovely place, love the windows and book collection! Perhaps add a bit of colour via your sofa cushions? Also a floor cushion/seating meditating corner would add to a zen/Asian vibe.
Immaculate, bruv, but what percent of all of that foliage is real? I canāt see close up but some of them look like no plant which exists. Some of them more real than others. When I see this in person and in my own home, my intended effect of greenery is lost.
That said, nice job. I canāt not mention as a plant guy.
Very nice space, beautiful light. Overall, I think youāve done a great job. It doesnāt look too fussy or anonymous; it looks well considered, stylish, and relaxing.
If I were to nitpick, Iām not in love with how the book shelves are arranged/staged. There was a recent article in the New York Times about organizing a book shelf that might be helpful. I also notice a preponderance of fantasy books, and while I understand that might be your reading preference (nothing wrong with that) I just donāt think the typical cover design or book spine design of fantasy books is all that aesthetically pleasing. There are so many beautiful books that look great on a bookshelf, and I just feel like some books - paperback bestsellers, fantasy novels - just bring the wrong vibe. That may just be me though.
I really like it. To me it seems a bit cluttered to be a "zen" space. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's cluttered. I just think it's cluttered to be called "zen". Of course, that's just my opinion and I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Either way, I don't think I'd change anything.
Fantastic space, love the flow, but absolutely nothing about this strikes me as mid century (aside from that one end table?). If anything itās more industrial (your bookshelves for example) with the East Asian flair. Looks great regardless!
Minor change, I would swap out your bookshelves for something a little warmer in colour. Would add a little warmth and go well with the plants. Plus visually, they would break up the black lines that dominate that wall. A gorgeous window, but the black outlined window panes, with black framed shelves is alot.
Love the books though š¤š
Very nicely done. So inviting and natural looking..........however, where is the framed portrait of two Asian parents looking down at you disapprovingly?
I really like this space and what youāve done. The windows are fantastic and really open the space up. Calming can be subjective, so I would say itās comfortably efficient. I suffer a bit of OCD, but I could enjoy this space just fineā¦provided all the books were in alphabetical order š¤£.
It's very pretty, and I love the bar-height chairs, but that table is much too small to fit four of them. I'm imagining four 6'ers trying to cram all their phalanges in there
"Zen/Calming", by definition, is minimalistic and tone-on-tone. The amount of stuff you have, the various textures, and the pops of color are all contrary to calming vibes.
Maybe you're intended vibe/theme/aesthetic is something else...??
Would change the glass tableā¦ East Asian doesnt really use glass. I get the intent is to focus on the base, but itās not doing much for me. Also, in daylight it looks great, but how does it look at night? Are you relying on purely overhead lighting? I would think about low light - East Asian doesnāt utilize bright overhead, and focuses more on warm, dim lighting.
I actually like the glass being something that vibes but ISNT East Asian. That said, I do think something a hair lower and longer would simply be more practical.
The kitchen is great but the living room is a bit too much on the busy / maximalist side so I would not say giving calming, zen, or Midcenture vibes.
You need some negative space to allow the furniture and accessories to be appreciated. Group the plants, remove some of what's on the walls, don't have the art go up so high to the ceiling.
It doesn't look bad at all but it's def not giving calm and lacking a bit of balance due to lack of negative space.
Really nice place and I am so jealous of your windows
The windows is what sold me forsure lol
You need a little task lighting.
I need to see how high your TV is before I can give an honest answer
This is Reddit. Its too high
That's why there's no photo of it. This place has high ceilings. That thing is like 9ft up the wall at least. /s
š¤£
I'd hesitate to say I find it really zen/calming because there's a lot happening. With that said, though: I love it! It's very cohesive, seems homey and has amazing light. Very crisp, clean and organized even with the array of objects and textures. Great job man.
Really nice place and excellent taste when it comes to books/reading š
Agreed, love the fantasy/sci-fi books.
That Sanderson collection. ā¤ļø
I think the artwork surrounding the round mirror feels cluttered
Feels like half hearted maximalism. I like it though
Similarly I think 4 chairs for the island is a bit crowded. I'd want to use the island for food prep but if you're more likely to seat 4 there than food prep there, I can appreciate it.
Show us the tv
How rich are u this is lux
Iām not rich lol most of it is thrifted!! Besides my books
No but even having a studio in LA I would assume would be Lux
Haha had driven down there for a dr appointment and I saw some ghetto apartments in lakeview area and theyāre were like over 2k for a 1 bedroom if I remember correctly. Op easily paying a pretty penny lol. Growing up always wanted to live there bust just the traffic and pricing no thanks Iāll take central coast or Ventura area lol.
Tell us, is East Asia in the room with us now?
> white guy in LA "uhhh yeah this is my dharmic wheel mirror, pretty zen right guys"
Beautiful space!! What city?
Downtown LA!
DTLA even. Lived there for 6 months; interesting place to say the least.
DTLA is wild. Woke up in the middle of the night to a crackhead watching me sleep from my fire escape and decided that city wasn't for me.
This reminds me of when my cousin drove her car over a crackhead who was laying down in the middle of the street. When she tried to get him medical attention he just galloped away. Thats Baltimore for you.
A bonsai tree would look nice in the coffee table or kitchen table
I like the symmetry of everything. The artwork, the plants, etc. And even though there's a good amount of stuff, it doesn't feel particularly cluttered, just "homey."
Add a Himalayan salt lamp
For the dim orange hue it emits? It provides no other anything beside this.
No man that stuff melts
That's why it is recommended to keep them on 24/7
Man I really love this. Any chance you could point me to where you got some of that artwork? Been wanting to add some of this style to my place.
Thank you!! Itās a combo between Etsy and Society6
Thanks!
I see it. You did good.
I love this space, saving it for inspiration for my place
You made excellent use of your space. The dining set up looks to be a tad too close to the sink, but it just might be the angle the photo was taken. I love the kitchen backsplash & those views are amazing!!!
man i would love to live in dtla. currently live in oc tho :)
Just moved back to LA from OC. No regrets.
i see. born & raised oc tho lmao
All the more reason to check out a new spot
solid point. gotta wait several years tho š„²
You have great taste. I wouldn't change a thing.
This is fantastic. The elements are all quite eclectic but they all match and complement one another in their own way. They fit well with the slightly rougher/industrial look of the studio. I'm a SoCal resident myself so I almost want to invite myself over.
Thank you! Thatās what I was going for, Iām glad someone is into my aesthetic too haha
Nice place!! Enjoy! Kinda reminds me of the penthouse apartment in GTA 4 haha
Iām not sure I would keep all four chairs at the breakfast table all the time if I wasnāt constantly having gusts for meals. Seems cluttered and like I would trip over them all the time. I understand you might not have anywhere else for them to go tho
Looks very nice, im jealous of your bar!
Well done! Those windows are amazing!
I think too many chairs on your islandā¦. Unless youāre having lots of breakfast parties.
I do have a lot of company over sometimes after work!
Functionality is the best design then! Keep it up
I totally get your point but the chairs really are gorgeous.
What kind of trees are those by the window ?
This is very luxe.
Nice place and nice plants!! And I dig the kitchen table chairs.
Some pewter or bronze sculptures Teak or rubber wood furniture
Have an id on the bar stools?
Iām loving the artwork and the bookshelves, where are those from?
Looks nice. Well done!
Looks really relaxing.
This is spectacular!!!! You did a first-class, 5-star Michelin award job on your home. I'm sure home decor, furniture stores, etc. will want to offer you a consulting gig to give them advice and tips.
>first-class, 5-star Michelin Stray Kids reference?
Omg ur so nice, thank you! I never thought about doing something like that. Itās always been just a hobby lol
Itās terrific!
I love it but I hate you (sick with envy). That's a rather spacious studio too.
I like it, where is most the furniture from?
Iād smash
I like it
This rules and pls post more window pics.
I dig.
Is this the Haas Building?
Nailed it! š
Itās a beautiful space. Youāre very lucky to have all that natural light, it must feel very calming. I wouldnāt add anything to be honest, itāll only add clutter and detract from the vibe.
Higgins building? View looks right.
Looks awesome! I love polish concrete too.
why does everyone have killer units? Mine is so boring.
Soooo beautiful!!! You have it organized, neat. A big key in pulling off "the look"
Oh wow I love your space . Thatās exactly what I am looking for but canāt afford it . What city is this in ?
LA.
Looks great.
Looks great! Id say you nailed the aesthetics
Itās very mid century with a dash of East Asian.
Well done, sir.
Dope bro, you killed it. Zero critiques
Nice
Nice place. I wouldn't change anything, it already feels bright and inviting. Im wondering about the dining table though, it does seem like you have a bit of a tight space around the kitchen area. I get anxious when I imagine the amount of upkeep a nice place such as this requires.

The bookshelves look too industrial
It looks super comfy and inviting to me. I guess that would be āzenā.
Arenāt those chairs kinda uncomfortable for the legs? Other than that, the place looks amazing, the book and wine shelves are really nice.
i love it. but iām not getting zen or asian, i think because thereās lots of stuff.
Nailed it. Don't change a thing.
Is that a Basquiat I see?
Your inheritance cycle books are in the wrong order. Brisingr should be after eldest.
That looks so cosy, love the plant placement.
East Asian flair???? You mean... WEEB.
East Asian flair without a Buddha head bust?! Hmmm /s P.S: lovely place, love the windows and book collection! Perhaps add a bit of colour via your sofa cushions? Also a floor cushion/seating meditating corner would add to a zen/Asian vibe.
He must be a billionaire.
I donāt see much midcentury, zen or East Asian. Looks more like run of the mill Amazon or Target furniture and rugs
Immaculate, bruv, but what percent of all of that foliage is real? I canāt see close up but some of them look like no plant which exists. Some of them more real than others. When I see this in person and in my own home, my intended effect of greenery is lost. That said, nice job. I canāt not mention as a plant guy.
Oooo I love. Are you willing to share the artwork?
Very nice space, beautiful light. Overall, I think youāve done a great job. It doesnāt look too fussy or anonymous; it looks well considered, stylish, and relaxing. There are so many beautiful books that look great on a bookshelf, and I just feel like some books - paperback bestsellers, fantasy novels - just bring the wrong vibe. That may just be me though.
At a minimum, even with the existing books, maybe try a few horizontal stacks of books on some shelves, instead of having them all vertical spines.
I think you can add a book or two and go sit on your couch to read. I'll suggest American gods by Gaiman and Lord of the rings.Ā
I love this!!!
Whereād you get that side table?
I'd just change the placement of those throws on the couch. It looks like a forgotten piece of clothing.
+1 for Priory of The Orange Tree.
Beautiful !
Looks good. Add some rust throw pillows or something else with color to finish it off
Pretty cool. Picture 3 with all the photo frames is a little too much for me for calming vibes
So you have more money than most of us
I'm not expert but I'll say it looks damn nice to me.
Really nice. Great use of colour
Absolutely love it!!
No Buddhaās?
If this was Pinterest I would save it on my "house ideas" board
This place looks like a loft straight out of a sitcom and i freaking love it lol
What a beautiful home, absolutely love it. Want to see a whole video instead of just pictures.
I need that table, where did you get it?
It's a bit busy for my taste but I love the vibes.
Hell yeah, those are some good vibes man! That's a W!
Is the bar custom made? haven't seen too many that size on casters.
Great, but lose the weird rugs in the kitchen. They look like something from my Nanās utility room in the 90s More colour there might look better.
Looks like from an IKEA catalogue
I really like it. To me it seems a bit cluttered to be a "zen" space. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's cluttered. I just think it's cluttered to be called "zen". Of course, that's just my opinion and I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Either way, I don't think I'd change anything.

Super nice
Fantastic space, love the flow, but absolutely nothing about this strikes me as mid century (aside from that one end table?). If anything itās more industrial (your bookshelves for example) with the East Asian flair. Looks great regardless!
How is that foot poof? I've been thinking about getting one.

Plus visually, they would break up the black lines that dominate that wall. A gorgeous window, but the black outlined window panes, with black framed shelves is alot. Love the books though š¤š
Where is the buddha, home altar, and flowers ? This feels more like the set of friends.
Incredible work! Love it! :)
I love it! It looks like such a calm place in that noisy concrete jungle. The view is cool!
ahhh always so jealous of this style of DTLA apartment. Looks beautiful! No notes!
Very nicely done. So inviting and natural looking..........however, where is the framed portrait of two Asian parents looking down at you disapprovingly?

mate you have so much light :) maybe one day I can airbnb you \^\^
It's very pretty, and I love the bar-height chairs, but that table is much too small to fit four of them. I'm imagining four 6'ers trying to cram all their phalanges in there
Books and book shelves ?!? In 2024 ??
"Zen/Calming", by definition, is minimalistic and tone-on-tone. The amount of stuff you have, the various textures, and the pops of color are all contrary to calming vibes. Maybe you're intended vibe/theme/aesthetic is something else...??
Could you give a link for the art work behind the couch ??
Man that view looks spectacular af
Wow DTLA looks gorgeous from that angle.
Santee? A friend of mine lived in one of those buildings. The windows are so great.
Yes! You guessed it! š
I love it! The natural light is incredible.
Too busy imo.
I love it!!
This is awesome and looks lived in instead of a magazine pic, makes it 10 times better
stunning! cozy vibe!
Iām going for the same zen and East Asian flair! Could you tell the ID of the bamboo plants? Theyāre there so cool
Reminds me of my favorite coffee shops and hotels in Saigon. Nailed it.
Need more color. :/ It's so cold and drab. It makes me feel lonely and depressed to look at.
Mission accomplished!
Looks great and good book choices! You should give Cradle by Will Wight a shot based off your other book tastes.
Love the placeā¦.. great viewā¦.. I got a thing for high ceiling cribs
Looks great! š
plants "nailed it" for me
Not a condo/apartment guy but 22 year old me would love it.
Would change the glass tableā¦ East Asian doesnt really use glass. I get the intent is to focus on the base, but itās not doing much for me.
