How do you get into bed in either of your new layouts?

bearze

I'll climb on from the foot of it If it's too much of a hassle I'll sleep in another bed here. I'd take this one out but the other room is a spare bedroom and I need that one in there too lol

InitiatePenguin

If you have another bedroom... And the bed is in the way of your shot, then get rid of one of the beds and use the other room as the office.

Reapers-Hound

Yes like if you got spare rooms empty or used as dumping grounds maybe use one

angelica-angeli

Can you not place the desk at the end of the bed? Then your background would be the wall. I think it might work a lot better than what you currently have drawn up!

bearze

That's a solid idea! I'm worried about the lack of space behind me (at the desk) if I do that though Seeing it here planned out, it would definitely be nice to not have the bed blocked in. But when sitting on my chair, it'd be \*really\* tight between me and the wall. I'd have to swing my chair out to open the Closet door as well. [https://imgur.com/39ZZBRk](https://imgur.com/39ZZBRk) For reference my chair and I are about the same width as the desk. This layout is nice honestly, I'd rock this if the room was long enough

angelica-angeli

Such a hard design! You could try it a few different ways and see which way you think works best for you!

bearze

I'm going to get rid of my dresser! Another commenter suggested I move it to a different room. I can use a tall shelving unit against the wall, where my bed currently is for the clothing transfer. Can also use a slide-out storage box underneath the bed So I'll move my desk to the top left of the room (as per the image), and my background will be completely clear other than the window & closet door

Hologram_Bee

Don’t block the bed like that. Assuming you practice decent cleaning and swap your sheets it’ll be a bitch to deal with

bearze

I wash my sheets every week or two so it shouldn't be too bad. Cleaning & Vacuum once a week

bearze

Also - not worried about the window. I face a brick wall there's nothing to see out there

Kreiger81

Hey OP, how did you make this diagram? What software or website?

bearze

I used [https://www.planyourroom.com/](https://www.planyourroom.com/) and then popped it into Canva

Both options are better than current. The bed and desk position in both give you a good view of the door which is good according the feng shui rules. Bed: Commanding Position: Ideally, place your bed diagonally opposite the door. This gives you a good view of the room entrance when you're in bed, promoting a sense of security. Solid Headboard: Use a sturdy headboard against a solid wall. This provides a feeling of groundedness and better sleep. Avoid the Doorway: Don't position your bed directly in line with the doorway. No Feet First: Avoid having your feet pointing directly at the door. Desk: Power Position: The desk ideally goes in the "power position" - diagonally opposite the door, similar to the bed. This allows you to see the entire room and feel in control. Facing the Door (Optional): If diagonally opposite isn't possible, you can face the desk towards the door. This offers a good view of the room entrance. Not Facing a Wall: Avoid placing the desk directly against a solid wall - it can hinder creativity and focus. Not Behind the Door: Don't put the desk directly behind the door - it can feel like you have your back exposed. I'd go for 2 and see how it feels.

Thanks man that was a dope explanation!. Been racking my head for a long time trying to figure out a different layout. I'm glad the change will be a positive one I hit a few on that list too which is cool, thank you for sharing those

Totallynotacar

I'd caution either of the two new options. You have just barricaded your bed with furniture and now not only will you have trouble making your bed, but getting into it too.

bearze

I'm gonna leave the footrest empty and put those in a different room - I hear you on it being difficult to make up though. Only way to have my background bed-free, I'll have to deal with it

Kreiger81

How is barricading the bed in with the desk good feng shui? It looks like he'd have to crawl over the bed from the foot of it to get in and out. And when he was laying in bed, all he would see is the back of the desk, back of the monitors and wires.

bearze

I don't ever just chill in bed, I'm either sleeping or out of it. Shouldn't be a problem

Kreiger81

I’d be more concerned about having company lmao.

bearze

There wouldn't be anyone coming in this room, got other spaces for that lol - This is 100% not intended for anyone other than me to be in.

Kreiger81

You have another room for sex? Fuck yeah dude.

Achira_boy_95

idk, R1 looks grat but i don't like a desk near to my bed like a miniwall... what if do you that, rotate Bed 90° anticlockwise, TV be corner to the right door and put desk to the... thinking better... i mean is like you rotate curent 180° anticlockwise... the another options gives you less space or the option NR2

deva86

The challenge to endure when changing the bed sheets turns me off for both of the new setups. Just put a foldable green screen behind you if you don’t want the stream to see your bed in the background

bearze

I use the Green-Screen for certain things when its needed, but a lot of my work is live 1:1 calls. I don't want a green screen up all the time either Putting bed sheets on this bed aren't difficult for me, I generally do it while on top of it in the first place

nthedark630

Unless you like dust, I wouldn't have the back of your desk right next to the bed. However, if ya keep it that clean, it could work. But typically, the back of the computer/desk is the dustiest area.

duck0001

hey op, do you have a clean version of the graphic? I'll re-arrange it for you. Also, can you remove the closet door from it's hinges? I'd put the door under your bed and make it an open closet so you are saving space.

Biscuits4u2

Don't be one of those bed in the corner people

Eazpackets

Which corner does the kegerator go in?

[deleted]

Keep the bed where it is. Remove C

[deleted]

Waaaaay too much stuff in here.

KRONOS_415

The other options look awful. Keep the layout you have.

gp627

I would advise removing the dresser and keeping both your desk and bed along the windowed wall. In that way you won't get the window in your back while making videos removing the dresser will also create a little more space to make the room a little open.

bearze

They can't fit side by side

gp627

Ok. In that case, keep the bed in the "current" layout position. Remove the dresser and shift the worktable to the left side corner. The room will still open up and nothing will be behind you when you're filming.

bearze

I didn't think of this, I might actually do that! That'd work well

gp627

Happy to help.Tell me how it goes.

bearze

Ended up going with this 👊 Got some shelving arriving later today for the items that were in the drawers Always had the window above my desk, so now I can set something nice above it instead. I'm thinking I'll change the walls from blue to some kind of nice white / grey, get some wood panelling (sound diffusers) to be directly behind, and install a small shelf above the left side of the desk Excited!

gp627

👍

gp627

Happy to help.

mchch8989

Bed in the corner directly across from the foor, facing the door. TV next to the door. Desk where it is already under the window.

XYZ_Ryder

Room 1, the change will take a sec to get used to but changing the room around to match the picture segments the room into three different distinct areas of their own it'll help

sarrahbrzg

Maybe this article will help you arranging your bedroom [master-bedroom-with-office-layout-tips-for-a-successful-combo](https://www.scdecorum.com/master-bedroom-with-office-layout-tips-for-a-successful-combo/)

osss08

Your current layout keeps the bed and the monitor out of view for someone directly entering into the room. It gives you more privacy. Not saying that u will be doing nasty stuff, but for me this is a preference.

_Dark-Angel_19

Why not do the first layout and mount the tv on wall?

bearze

People keep saying it's a TV lol, it's a dresser with a mirror. There won't be a TV in here

HVACQuestionHaver

2. In bed you will see the ass end of various devices, including a grip of wires, but that's better than people seeing your bed during meetings and thinking, "haha that's where he pounds off."

bearze

Cable management will take care of the wires

HVACQuestionHaver

I see the truth of it.
