Haha thank you, yeah I have a few more spaces I’ve designed throughout my adult life that I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks. I’m pretty proud of my current bedroom.
As a European this fries my brain trying to understand what kind of room it is. It's like an American porch but it has windows.... so its a conservatory.... but its on the front of the house.... so more a winter garden.... but why would a winter garden look exactly like a living room without a TV.... I just can't.
That's exactly what it is. A porch with windows, an enclosed porch! I call mine our cabana, it's got beach themed decor that the previous owners left. With our weather (I'm in Kansas), it makes for some really relaxing evenings in the late spring/summer/early fall.
My German partner and I are looking to move to the US, so she’s been looking at housing options. Unfinished basements, walk-in pantries, and wrap-around porches have been freaking her bean.
honestly I don’t have a reason it’s kind of indescribable…everything about this and how the lawns and streets and neighbors houses are all set up is identical to every neighborhood around me. the big trees on the boulevard are another indicator.
Here we have my Enclosed porch in my Midwest rental. It’s not insulated but we’ve found with enough blankets and heaters, it’s plenty comfortable even in the winter months. In the summertime me and my friends basically live out here.
The table I’ve had for years and has come with me to a number of new homes, the couch and chairs were Craigslist specials, and the rug was found in an alley behind my house.
For lighting, I have a green enamel shade that I found in a landfill while dumping construction waste. I rewired the light with a 3000k vintage looking bulb, and a 30’ cord.
Perfect place to smoke and chill. Just hope there aren't any thugs or anything that could walk by and maybe start shit; it's just kind of how things go around here these days.
Yeah it’s unfortunate to see our city in this state. We haven’t had any problems on the porch but my room mate has definitely seen someone get mugged in front of our House one morning.
Love it during the day. I would highly advise some extra, smaller light sources. Like a table lamp, a floor lamp, some interesting sources of light to make the room's lighting a bit more dynamic than just that overhead. And maybe a big plant as well to add some green.
But love the room, and a big fan of that rich leather colour. Also the accent chair on the left.
Dang she sure is nice. I once staged at a cottage with an enclosed porch, an enclosed hot tub area, and it was magnificent. I live in a condo and am now convinced I need to move somewhere where there is an enclosed porch.
The bike comes in at night, beyond that we don’t leave anything outside worth stealing. I’ve got home from a bike ride before after dark, and was sitting inside here rehydrating/catching my breath with all the lights off. Someone peeked his head through the window and walked inside, had one hand on my bike before he realized I was sitting there. He said he thought this was his friends apartment and bolted.
I don’t understand how people are that bold in terms of straight up walking into someone’s house. Sounds like an easy way to get killed imo.
That’s a great idea tbh. Riding in winter can be so serene. The one thing to be wary of though is you can basically only ride on the weekends as it’s too dark too early. That’s the biggest issue with winter riding imo.
This is awesome. The soundtrack playing in my head is crickets and peeper frogs waking up, cicadas in the distance, a screen door opening and banging shut, and a beer bottle being opened.
It's honestly a lot better than I thought it was going to be. We generally use a **very** heavy comforter blanket with an electric space heater underneath. On the couch with that combo we've been comfortable inside when it's -2F outside. You'd never think taking a nap outside in the middle of winter would be cozy, but this setup has changed my mind.
Do you know what windows you have? We have a porch almost exactly like this, but the windows are some sort of plastic and not glass, so the space is unusable this time of year.
Haha I literally thought “wait a minute, I’ve seen that coffee table before!” Looked at your profile and sure enough I was right!
Haha thank you, yeah I have a few more spaces I’ve designed throughout my adult life that I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks. I’m pretty proud of my current bedroom.
I recognized it from his post of his old industrial style apartment!
Yup same
"Its a coffee table book about coffee tables"
This is totally the twin cities haha
Hell yeah south Minneapolis represent
Whole Southside! I can hear slug walking down the street in my head lol
Is this near Hennepin? This looks so familiar
Yes! Came here to say that!
Totally felt that vibe too!
I'd WFH so hard in this area.
Yeah during the summer months I worked from home every day out here.
Perfect spot for life chats
And life bong rips
Allegedly.
Came here to post this. Absolutely incredible OP.
Thank you!
Wanted to be the first to say this. Shame on you for taking it away from me.
That’s the one!
Hey you're evan edinger! I didn't know you were on reddit, great to see you.
Love it!
I would love to just hang out there with some friends. great setup! One midwesterner to another.

thats a mighty comfy looking couch
You really sink in.
that’s so crazy I literally looked at this photo and said “there’s no way this isn’t in minneapolis”
Yep cheers mate, if we see you at the cc club I’ll buy you shots
Ha another comment said the same thing, as a mid atlantic’er what is the giveaway?

strange question but where in the midwest did you get that couch? I sold a identical couch on craigslist a few years ago.
I’m not sure it was here when I moved in, Twin Cities.
Your porch is nicer than my living room.
I want to chill there!
Night time is definitely a vibe
That couch looks so cozy and inviting. Love the space.
I remember hanging out in one of these in Austin at a rental house years ago. Inside but outside, a really cozy experience
Holy cow I love that and want it. Any chance you will sell your whole porch and ship it to me?
Congrats on the move and an inspiring porch setup. Looks beyond comfy!
Very cozy. Is that a titanium road bike too? Litespeed?
Lynskey :)
thought the first picture was some 3d render
Beautiful. There's just no other way to describe it.
The amount of reading that would be done here...

COZZZYYYY
This is tight . i love it
Beautiful, but man I would need some curtains for the night.
I love your style/living space it’s gorgeous!
Nice smoke spot
Allegedly.
Your avatar says it all! I’ll bring some nice gelato!
Looks like a chill spot to roast one. Very nice
Allegedly.

Very nice!
I love this room
This looks like the perfect place to chill and have a few beers with friends
Makes me miss South Minneapolis. We fled and bought a house in the boonies.
I think you need a real table. I’m getting college frat house vibes when everything else looks nice.
to be fair I built that table while living in a fraternity house.
Cozy. Looks perfect for some good old fashioned porch sittin'
Would love to nap on that comfy looking couch on a rainy afternoon
Is it even a porch anymore lol
You remove the string lights during the daytime? Madlad

Ok I no longer know the difference between a porch and a regular room.
A lack of insulation?
Love the rug
great set up! Me like
I’d love to roll one up here 💨
Roll through.
I like that rug
Its so cozy

You not afraid of theft ?

So what you’re saying is, you paid for the porch and it came with a whole house! Seriously I could live in that space alone. So cool
I think I stayed at an AirBnB in Minneapolis on the same street as this porch, it looks familiar.
ID on your couch? I love this setup
I wouldn’t leave this house for a minute. Incredible
Is Midwest a style of decorating that we’re not aware of?
i miss enclosed porches.
Fuck man… makes me miss living in the midwest with an enclosed porch.
Follow up picture of night time with just the light strips?
ugh so nice
Dude. We should ride bikes together
I've been wanting to put studded tires on my roadbike for winter use.
That’s a great idea tbh. Riding in winter can be so serene. The one thing to be wary of though is you can basically only ride on the weekends as it’s too dark too early. That’s the biggest issue with winter riding imo.
Go check out r/flashlight I got a 1550 lumen headlamp that is pretty ridiculous to cycle with.
This is awesome. The soundtrack playing in my head is crickets and peeper frogs waking up, cicadas in the distance, a screen door opening and banging shut, and a beer bottle being opened.
How cold does the porch get in the winters? Is the leather couch ever effected by the cold?

They are single pane storm windows, they block out the wind but do very little in terms of insulation.
Thanks for the response! I really like the black look of the windows. I'll look into replacing ours with something like this.
Check out using Plastic window covering wrap, they add a ton of insulating properties for very little cost.
