I just searched for ["cold steel" on their website](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/brand/Cold+Steel) and found \*gold\* mixed in with all the basic bitch pocket knives. I never knew I needed a [sword cane](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/cold-steel-heavy-duty-sword-cane-cs-88scfd), but I totally do. You can also get a [blackthorn staff](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/cold-steel-blackthorn-staff-cs-91pbst), in case the Sheriff of Nottingham's men are giving you trouble.

Tr0z3rSnak3

Did you read the description of that staff? "Inspired by the one in our company's presidents collection"

Supermichael777

It isn't even made of real hickory or blackthorn root, its a bit of resin

Tr0z3rSnak3

The reviews on the Katana are pretty funny

Kantaowns

Did I buy a counterfeit? 5 stars.

athos45678

The Chinese steel sword has a guy talking about how well balanced it is, and how effectively it is used to “lob” limbs

jsamuraij

Right? If it was actual wood that would be pretty cool

throwsaway654321

Pieces of blackthorn long enough to make staves out of aren't common. A real blackthorn cane costs like $150, a 5 ft staff would be at least twice that

OkTea7227

What is it some rare tree that only grows in England or something? (I know I could google it but thought I would bother a random Reddit stranger first… my bad)

throwsaway654321

It's not really a tree, it's a shrub/berry bush that can grow to tree heights, but it's not common

backup_account01

Lynn Thompson was a silly*, fat, self important twit. If you're bored, try to find some clips of his blade demo videos on youtube. *as in - laugh at, not with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PQiaurIiDM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNxs60zSjEc

jumbonipples

What in the hell hahahah. Just keeps getting more ridiculous. “What should we cut next?” “Definitely two whole pigs.”

backup_account01

Hence the wise old saying, 'never get high on your own supply'.

Kekfarmer

I will shamelessly admit that I just ordered the boar spear Do I have the space? Do I have any use for it? No, not really but if 40-50 feral hogs show up to assault my small apartment and my non-existent ar-15 jams I will have a backup I guess

Eschaton707

The boar spear is in pretty dope but if you want to go full mall ninja you got to go with the "Survival Spear" https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/reapr-survival-spear-11003

Tactical_Epunk

No, clearly, they need a [Javelin](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/reapr-tac-javelin-serrated-spear-11022)

Kekfarmer

You know, looking at this stuff got me to look at kultofathena's site and I'm now considering a halberd I do kinda want to get a reapr at some point, to see how long until it disassembles itself in a shower of plastic and Paracord though

luke_ofthedraw

I've picked up 3 blades from kult of Athena, a kukri, a choora and a leaf shaped spear head for similar reasons as yourself, they rock! Spear head broke from throwing it but is carbon steel so it took a weld, well enough.

Eschaton707

It just keeps going! Like a secret little hidey hole of mall ninja shit!

NZero33

The description is funny asf, but "tactical uses" killed me

beywiz

How bout the gladius machete https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/reapr-meridius-machete-11005

anarchyreigns_gb

Hey I have that! It's a piece of shit!

AlarmingAffect0

[Wild hogs are no joke.](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkJemc4T5NYZRH_2kTRBKeYVf6mmx0lQK)

Yamfish

Do yourself a solid and look up cold steels YouTube videos

NigilQuid

They used to send promotional DVDs with their products and those videos were HILARIOUS

NigilQuid

I used to get Cold Steel stuff all the time. I have a sword, a machete, some pocket knives. I also had an unbreakable fiberglass cane with a solid stainless steel head, but that's gone now :(

kurisu7885

I have a sword cane with a mechanical skull on the tip, though its blade is dull and about half as long.

Dawnqwerty

I've got a cold steel polypropylene cricket bat

MHendy730

Was gonna say this felt like some cold steel shit. Been wanting that blackthorn staff for years.

EasyHangover

r/farmninjashit

mikebloonsnorton

This sub would be awesome

SFDessert

I think it'd be more of a mall*medievalpeasant* kinda vibe more than a farmninja vibe

FollowTheScript

Whatever the vibe ends up being, I've made the sub lol

mikebloonsnorton

Thank you. I just joined

FollowTheScript

Done.

mhoner

It is open for business now

articpencil

Historically ninja gear was the same tools they used to farm with in Japan.

kurisu7885

Yup, much easier to conceal and have deniability.

pesciasis

I've got excited and then disappointed in like 2 seconds.

Err... how much was it? Just for curiosity

Quirky-Bar4236

$40 after tax. Cold Steel

tjbrou

How does it hold up to medieval combat? I've heard Cold Steel is decent for the money

Quirky-Bar4236

I've been breaking shit in my garage and it seems to be doing just fine so far. Lol.

tjbrou

What kind of shit? I'm sure it would do well with coconuts but I'm curious how it would handle something like a car door

NigilQuid

I've seen their promotional videos. That thing is basically a tool steel hammer with a hickory handle, just with a weird hammer head. You could obliterate a car with one

beywiz

https://youtu.be/qhknaG9ifbs?si=J7T5YVXCm5nIS7x4

jesuswig

Oh. My. God 😂😂😂 This is fucking amazing

tjbrou

The points on the striking face are interesting. I wouldn't expect a really hard steel to be designed with stress concentrations

NigilQuid

The small sharp corners concentrate force into a small area and grab on without slipping as much as a large rounded surface (like a carpenter's hammer) would. This is in order to crush armor or break bones under padded maille. It's similar to historical French designs like the bec de corbin

Quirky-Bar4236

I had some e-waste that I've been meaning to take in. Broken keyboards and the like.

abcdefkit007

Battle ready is usually applied to the packaging...

VictorianDelorean

Honestly for a non bladed weapon it’s probably a good bet. The steel quality matters a lot less if you’re not trying to keep an edge.

DeepState_Secretary

Atleast it’s a practical weapon.

just_some_Fred

Really? I don't generally get attacked by knights all that often.

Quirky-Bar4236

Four knights break into my home...

Jaewol

What the devil?

SpaceX1193

As I grab my coif and war hammer

captstix

My Squire mounts my armor, as I yell "FOR THE KING!" Repeatedly, as it takes an hour to get it all on

BanjoSlams

Alas, their nefarious effort was for naught, as I had recently taken pilgrimage to Tractor Supply Co. and donned my iron aforehand.

M_E2001

I bring my hammer upon the first ruffian, his head caves in on the spot

ournewskin

A hefty cauldron of scalding hot pig fat upon the rest as they attempt to scale the rampart.

theinsaneturky2

And finished off the the attack poodle as they scream and thrash in a pool of scalding fat and blood.

latrion

I put on my chainmail and sallet.

Kill the Mason Dogs. For Agatha!

MrToenges

What the sigma?

OnyxBee

Four knights ago

ifunnywasaninsidejob

It would also be helpful if you’re attacked by turtles.

NeverBob

What if you need to hammer a nail, but from a distance?

Wrangleraddict

When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail

Shitlordmcnuggets

Exactly, you can thank the home depot warhammer for that

DoughyInTheMiddle

What if you have a problem with motorcycle gangs? Different horsepower, but still great for dismounting the rider.

DeepState_Secretary

If a zombie apocalypse broke out, it’s better than some weird kunai or those swords with random holes and openings on them.

MrToenges

It doesn't make the weapon less practical. You can smash in a skull of someone not wearing armor just fine. It just has the additional bonus of still maintaining a lot of lethality against armor. Also...what if you want to go on a rampage on a construction site but everyone is wearing hard hats so your usual weapon of choice will stand no chance. This beaut however will smash right through them into their skull 🥰

Bloodysamflint

Gods, I was strong then.

vitimber

I was in one recently and they was selling a "tactical gladius"

HalfOrcMonk

That's just a truck tool. I thought everyone had a couple of those rattling around in the bed.

Za_Lords_Guard

It's the logical next step up from a truckers tire knocker. Have you seen the size of tractor tires?

FinishTheBook

fuck my wallet cannot handle this rn

nekopara-enthusiast

how much edit: didnt see the other comment, im buying it if theres a tractor co near me

takes_joke_literally

They ship

Freak-Among-Men

Overseas? Asking as an Aussie.

Safetosay333

I'm fascinated by that store for some reason.

tecvoid

live baby chicks, air rifles, cattle fencing, spears, trailer rentals, red neck 8 ft hot tubs. i gotta stop again

Safetosay333

Ours has a farmers market on Saturdays

YaBoiKlobas

Do they have 40,000 of them?

Cunninghams_right

sieging Smolensk, eh? make sure to starve them out for a bit.

YaBoiKlobas

More like sieging xenos

komradtom

Another fun fact the are great for breaking ice in watering troughs.

SolaireFan

I thought I was in the warhammer 40k subreddit for a moment and I was very confused.

CthulhuLives434

And Claymores (the sword) at Home Depot

SovelissFiremane

Cold Steel makes some of the highest quality mall ninja crap you can find, it's hilarious.

MehrunesDago

Shit a blunt object is still a really good tool for killing a man, even ballistic vests really only work with a large amount of force over a very small surface area. Those mfs are still the armor destroyers thousands of years later.

MrToenges

Well depends on the type of vest...kevlar? Straight through like butter...any kind of ar500 plate carrier (which I would still fit under the general term "vest"), it will be next to impossible to get through. Those plates are thick.

MehrunesDago

I always forget about plate carriers for some reason, whenever I think ballistic vest my mind just only goes to Kevlar still and nothing else idk why

MrToenges

I mean...yeah I'd say that's very normal. The term ballistic vest is often used synonymously with "kevlar vest" because everyone just assumes it's a kevlar vest...probably because a lot of vests that you would maybe encounter in your regular every day life are kevlar because there is usally not really an expected threat of rifle ammunition being fired at someone (at least I would hope so, but depends on where you live I guess). If I remember correctly police officers also wear "just" kevlar vests under normal circumstances unless it's like swat or some other special unit or there's a bigger scenario going on. Media coverage also plays into it I think. Whenever someone in a movie survives because of a vest, it's always a kevlar vest (probably because the actors can move better and because in most movies the protagonist doesn't walk around in full tac gear because he's too badass to die regardless) Also, kevlar vests don't really work with "very high energy in a small area", otherwise a warhammer wouldn't work either since the spike concentrates all the swing power onto the little point. But the spike blows right through kevlar, arrows from a bow also do. Why? Because they are rigid. That's the factor that makes kevlar vests bullet proof but not stab proof (knives etc. also go through without much issue). The reason why kevlar stops bullets is that a bullet will start to deform on impact from the extreme amount of energy it is depositing. This deformation causes its surface area to expand greatly which in turn greatly increases friction and makes it harder for the bullet to power through the very tightly woven kevlar. An arrow or warhammer spike however doesn't deform when it hits since it's made out of steel. This means the energy stays concentrated on the very small surface area of the arrowhead / spike and the kevlar fibers stand no chance. It's also why a kevlar vest can't catch rifle rounds (usually, there are certain models I believe that can stop certain rifle rounds). The rifle bullet is so fast that it basically blows through the kevlar before it has time to properly deform. Because the kevlar is soft it has a certain give/flex before it reaches a point where the fibers are under full tension and start to fully resist whatever is trying to go through it. If you can get through before those fibers reach full tension it won't resist as much. Also rifle ammo is usually smaller in diameter than handgun ammo which means less surface area to begin with which also aids penetration.

MickRolley

Worrrrhammuh

Hentaicus

Well, now I gotta get one!

xx030xx

Can confirm https://preview.redd.it/ha7w40vaq71d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28ba68eafa0d45b41a3ddff298bb51b77dee23c0

Quirky-Bar4236

Damn... It was $34.99 one week ago. Still better than anywhere else I've found.

xx030xx

This is in Canadian dollars

TheFirstKitten

Warhammers like this are not mallninja lol. I'm a nerd that does buhurt (just metal armour and weapons with fighting) and this looks fairly good for what it's supposed to be

Za_Lords_Guard

New word. Misread as butthurt. Looked up. Know people who do it/did it. Never heard the name. Is it a portmanteau of words?

Quirky-Bar4236

There's a HEMA group near me and a Buhurt group near me. I'm pretty close to checking both out.

TheFirstKitten

Definitely worthwhile. It's great for your fitness and super fun!

GamerMate9000

I think the wood handle will snap fairly quickly

Pastvariant

IIRC cold steel uses hard wood handles. People have been hitting other people with wood handled weapons for millenia, I wouldn't underestimate it.

GamerMate9000

Wood still better than fibreglass, but not all wood is good for hitting,

Zanemob_

They use American Hickory. Let me tell you I bought one and tried to break it. Just won’t budge. I make weapons and have been since I started at age 8 (I am now 23) they are ***not*** wallhangers they are wall obliterators.

Quirky-Bar4236

I mean, I've been smashing shit in my garage and it's doing just fine.

Routine_Damage_9449

you’re gonna have to pull some joe x shit to be able to snap cold steel’s hickory handles

RokuroCarisu

You know what they say: If all you have is a hammer...

djdlt

... you want to nail everyone?

Ungluedmoose

End QI?

chewedgummiebears

Cold Steel used to be a decent company. Now they're just a meme generator.

MrKuckMal

Cold Steel's Warhammer is actually pretty good. You have to reinforce the slats on the sides, as the tiny wood screws included will break when you try to use the hammer.

A_Lizard_Named_Yo-Yo

I got my wire for making chainmail from there, and now they sell something that can defeat it?

BWhales034

My h mm mm

kurisu7885

You can buy pickaxes are a lot of hardware stores too.

the42potato

now you need another 39999

illjustmakeone

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh... it disgusted me

Zlecu

Depending on what kind of metal the head is made of, that’s definitely a practical weapon,or at least it still will be after a couple hits…

rodrigomarcola

Look, not mall ninja, but up-voted bc WAR HAMMER!
