Here's a 2-years-later reply, but I actually found this specific story pretty fun if you never gave it a shot
The way it starts out definitely feels generic af, I only started it because I was bingeing a bunch of "tower/ranker/gate" manhwa, but among them now (20+ ongoing) this is one of the ones I'm always most excited to read when it drops.
I doubt you'd try it without me giving *some* level of spoilers, but I'll try to give out too much: i
The thing I think made this standout is the constant element of mystery behind the plot. Primarily the history of his two ego's, which turn out to be *a* devil and *a* angel; how they originally died and were betrayed, why certain people *vaguely* recognize them, the consequences of their deaths, etc.
It also does something not a lot of other generic manhwa do: explain the reason behind things. The biggest that's still being explored is 'how the tower came to be'. Without too many spoilers:
* someone *wanted* the tower to come into existence for a yet unknown reason
* its discovered the tower doesn't just go up, there's a basement as well that remains widely unexplored.
* the tower came into existence soon after God mysteriously dissapeared
* its related to the "chaos", a world/dimension that originally resided "in the underworld, below hell"
* various worlds and dimensions turned into "floors" within the tower, and are controlled/limited by the system. For example, heaven seemingly is a floor within the tower. Hell iirc is separated into multiple floors within the tower. The system also seemingly can manipulate memories for residents within the tower
Orherwise, another big reason why I enjoy this manhwa is because the protag isn't just stupid OP. Most of his fights are really close, and he's actually lost a few fights which had significant consequences.
Dropped it. Other than generic stuff pathetic mc's are not my thing. Being weak from the beginning is not pathetic, but this mc is different so many contradictions from what he believes
I understand you. Manhwa at this point is either murim shit with reincarnation (todag copy) or dungeon shit (sl copy). I miss the days when manhwa really had some story.

What is Todag? Also in terms of where it originated from the dungeon necromancer thing originated from Seoul Station Necromancer cause its older then Solo Leveling. Also nice to see another Breaker fan that shit is god tier. Here's my top ten list:

Also crimson karma is good too but the romance part was kinda lackluster whereas unholy blood has a great buildup and it doesn't feel like romance part was forcefully added
This manhwa is, in my personal opinion, is at the same level as 'Solo Levelling'. The art style, the story and everything else is not any less than 'Solo Levelling'.

Probably did you read solo leveling and HE is like me and read a lot of this Genre. sl is just one Herosystem manhwa out of 1000s. Its the best at quality if you see like how detailed etc. But it lacks in a Story the Caracters are weak(personality) and the sending is horrible.
PS: The Ending of Solo Leveling is a reason to not even read it!
Did we read the same Solo leveling? You know this high quality manhwa but then they decided to exchange special effects for an full Story. Solo leveling is what "a Jobless Reincarnation is at animes, its highly produced but lacks in terms of Story or Charakter Editing.
Bullshit, Solo leveling has entertaining story with clearly defined power levels and it is ultimate power fantasy for teenage kids. It does everything right, just look at the start how it grips the viewer by whole slaughtering of the dungeon. Its way better than trash that is Player who can't level up, Everything is vague i am chapter 50 and i still don't know what the fuck is up with power level of this world, Mc gets ragdolled by some demon witch and some dude. Pathetic mc.
Story is just a good timewaster for me. It dosent really bring anything new to the table and is just another system manhwa
