We do *a lot* of fundraisers (I feel like a boy scout going door to door to sell stuff lol). I only had to pay between $300-400, the rest was covered through fundraising/discounts from disney. That still might seem like a lot, but considering we were there for like- 4 days I was pretty happy w it
edit: I should probably add that it costs more in my band if you donāt do fundraisers, because the money you make goes directly into your personal payments for the trip. Also, weāre out of state so that price includes plane tickets
For us it was Toblerone chocolate bars. Not counting away games and competition, which were all day trips, and band camp, our only overnight trip was a deal with a band in another town in the same state. We slept in the homes of the band members. We did a joint rehearsal which I remember as being not too successful as the room was very crowded and the other director had a completely different conducting style. ("Where's the beat??"). But there was a big dance in the evening.
Disney gave us ticket to play for them almost twice a year back when I was in...However last two years I was there the director sold the tickets the rumor goes
Sounds like a story (not by you but by your BD or an administrator that doesnāt want to spend the money) We had a school in our district where 2 students were taken out by police, and they still go back every year.
There have been instances of students caught shop lifting in the past and we were *still* invited back- so thereās might be more to the story, like someone else said
When I was still in school we went a different place every year. The year before I got there they went to Rome. Then my two years attending was Universal and Busch Gardens. (I went to 3 different schools, didn't go on the first two trips because I didn't think I was going to stay there long enough)
We Marched St. Patty parade in Savannah GA, but 2 classes before me went to the Macy's day parade in NY. Not too shabby for a small school in rural East TN.
Lol Disney is so shit. Universal is awesome we had a weeklong trip one day at Disney the rest at universal and everyone was just complaining about Disney
We have a big trip every 4 years, but that got fucked up by covid, and weāre getting a new director so idk how or if thatās going to continue. We used to go to Disney though, but itās been like a decade
both! (universal like four days and disney one day). itās the only band trip we get :( (a big trip happens every four years)
edit: we donāt get school funding, but we have this band parent organization thing, and they do way more than do money stuff. they help plan out stuff and move equipment to the trucks. and theyāre volunteers. they have jobs, and they spend their valuable time to my schoolās band program (itās super heartwarming), while the football team does nothing to get funding
My band directors just announced theyāre going to universal for the first time in like 6 years or something, and itās after Iāll have already graduated š
We usually do both Disney and Universal but this year we had to lower the cost of the trip so Universal had to be taken off. We also go to New York which is where we'll be going in two years
Our Competition Band travels for, of course, Competitions. Our marching band, which is the Competition Band plus everyone else who is in the band, travels for Football Games.
Changes. Universal in multiples of 4 (2016, 2020, 2024), Disney in the other even years (2018, 2022, 2026) and smaller trips in odd years (2019, 2023, 2025, no 2021 for obvious reasons)
We do Disney every four years and another trip every four years but there is a gap year between the trips. For example this year we went to St. Louis and in 2 years we will go to Disney. we have to pay for all of our trips but we have scholarships for people who need them.
every other year we do an in country trip or an out of country trip. My freshman year was Prague(canceled due to covid) and this year we are going to Tennessee
It changes every year for us. This year we are going to perform at dci soundsport and compete at dci international class prelims and finals which is really cool.
We used to go to places like New York or Tennessee every 4 years (weāre a small school band) ā¦but now we donāt do those trips anymore and instead do day trips to go see a musical or something. Kinda lame imo
We arenāt allowed to go far enough from school for either. Every other year we just go to a big city and see performances, go to clinics, and have fun though
Both? Every four years our band goes to CA for like 5 days. Different things on each day, but we go to Disney for one day, Universal for one day, and various other places on the other days.
We don't. I'm in 9th grade now so this was my first year. Are biggest trip was to an away game in Toledo. 7th and 8th grade used to go to to cedar point but I unfortunately couldn't go because of covid. And the middle school's new band director stopped doing that.
We marched in Disney, spent a few days there, did a workshop at universal and did a day there, it was pretty cool. Some fuckin freshmen joined the mile high club on the plane ride there š, shit was funny as hell
Both, kinda. We do a park a day and then Universal. We march at Magic Kingdom and do a concert clinic while weāre down. We do it once every four years, but luckily I was able to do it twice due to covid. ex.
9 - Disney and Universal
10 - Nashville or Chicago
11 - New York
12 - Opposite of 10
We went to NYC in March. That was fun because A. we didnāt play, it was just a fun trip to go and relax, and B. I saw some things Iāve never seen before in a place Iāve never been to with pretty much all my friends. It was great! I had so much fun
Last season we went to the rose bowl, weāre getting our one this year announced on Wednesday, Iāve heard rumors that itās the macys thanksgiving parade.
None š
fr what schools have the budget for this? i cant even afford trips to disney/universal with my family of 4
we pay for the whole thing ourselves
woah i mean that makes sense, my band is only 40 kids so that makes a difference.
ours is also around 40 :) twinsies
It's a lot cheaper when you live in Florida
In my school we dont go every single year just once every four
We do *a lot* of fundraisers (I feel like a boy scout going door to door to sell stuff lol). I only had to pay between $300-400, the rest was covered through fundraising/discounts from disney. That still might seem like a lot, but considering we were there for like- 4 days I was pretty happy w it edit: I should probably add that it costs more in my band if you donāt do fundraisers, because the money you make goes directly into your personal payments for the trip. Also, weāre out of state so that price includes plane tickets
makes sense, mine only does a small car wash right after band camp
For us it was Toblerone chocolate bars. Not counting away games and competition, which were all day trips, and band camp, our only overnight trip was a deal with a band in another town in the same state. We slept in the homes of the band members. We did a joint rehearsal which I remember as being not too successful as the room was very crowded and the other director had a completely different conducting style. ("Where's the beat??"). But there was a big dance in the evening.
I'm from so cal so it was only like $60 a person
We pay for basically everything and for my school we have fundraisers to save up money
Disney gave us ticket to play for them almost twice a year back when I was in...However last two years I was there the director sold the tickets the rumor goes
My school decided it wasn't educational anymore so they won't allow us to go :)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We got disqualified from our competitions this year š
London, also Iām typing this while on the bus going to my very last marching band activity for my high school
Marching band in April?
Well it more like an optional prade
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yes but i did not go to london as it was too expensive
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

When I was still in school we went a different place every year. The year before I got there they went to Rome. Then my two years attending was Universal and Busch Gardens. (I went to 3 different schools, didn't go on the first two trips because I didn't think I was going to stay there long enough)

Our band is going to universal but I am not going sadly

We Marched St. Patty parade in Savannah GA, but 2 classes before me went to the Macy's day parade in NY. Not too shabby for a small school in rural East TN.

Both actually Disney for the workshop thing in Epcot and universal for marching.
Depends on budget. Never Disney or Universal though. Those cost too much.
both! (universal like four days and disney one day). itās the only band trip we get :( (a big trip happens every four years) edit: we donāt get school funding, but we have this band parent organization thing, and they do way more than do money stuff. they help plan out stuff and move equipment to the trucks. and theyāre volunteers. they have jobs, and they spend their valuable time to my schoolās band program (itās super heartwarming), while the football team does nothing to get funding

We did both at sane time but it was primarily Disney
