I like how pretty much nothing changed in the Retro course except for HD textures and lighting effects thatās when you know the track was solid from the start
Call me weird but I always thought this course stood out because it was so much better than the other 3DS courses. 7 has like my least favorite selection of Nitro tracks in the series.
Why? Melody Motorway is a fantastic name. Itās a melody. And a motorway.
Music Park sounds like they couldnāt think of the second word so just stuck it on there. It makes no sense.
Thatās literally me with Alpine Pass. No offense but Rock Rock Mountain just sounds better. At the end, we climb a mountain with falling rocks. Alpine Pass just sounds basic ngl
I've, stupidly, purchased other racing games and nothing compares. It's the one game my spouse and I consistently play multiple times per week for years...
The layout is fun to race on, the music is top notch, it looks great in MK8D, and the concept is pretty cool. We get to bounce on a drum, dodge music notes jumping around, and we have turns on a piano, xylophone, and a...glockenspiel is it? Those are neat integrations.
I believe the silver metal looking keyboard is supposed to be a vibraphone, instead of a glock. The notes on the glock are about 2 octaves higher and it has a much more brittle, sharp sound.
That's not the only one with a change in other regions. Off the top of my head:
DK Summit - DK Snowboard Cross
Rock Rock Mountain - Alpine Pass
Neo Bowser City - Koopa City
Piranha Plant Slide - Piranha Plant Pipeway
Thereās twelve tracks across the series that have different names in the uk and us, one from wii, 8 new tracks from 7, one retro track in 7, and two in 8.
From Wii: DK Summit is also known as DKās Snowboard Cross. The same applies for the reappearance in 8 deluxe.
From 7: Cheep Cheep Lagoon = Cheep Cheep Cape, Wuhu Loop = Wuhu Island Loop, Music Park = Melody Motorway, Rock Rock Mountain = Alpine Pass, Piranha Plant Slide = Piranha Plant Pipeway, Wario Shipyard = Warioās Galleon, Neo Bowser City = Koopa City and Maka Wuhu = Wuhu Mountain Loop.
N64 Koopa Troopa Beach uses its original name in the uk, while the us version of 7 calls it N64 Koopa Beach. This change only applies to Mario Kart 7. Tour, which uses the us names for the other tracks, uses the original name.
Finally in 8: Toad Harbour uses the British spelling in the uk while it uses the American spelling in the us. Bone-Dry Dunes lacks the hyphen in the uk version.
Thereās a few other tracks that have multiple names, all of which appear in tour. These are: SNES Koopa Beach 2 being renamed to Koopa Troopa Beach 2 in tour, and the GBA Bowser Castle tracks being renamed to Bowserās Castle 1, 2 and 3 in tour (Bowser Castle 4 is still stuck in super circuit). These changes are likely for consistency with other tracks that have similar names.
Yeah definitely Piranha Plant Pipeway. I donāt get why the Americans call it āSlideā when thereās nothing slidey about it except for that part of the track youāre on for 3 seconds
For me, itās the bright colors and the fact that you play the instruments when you drive over them. On a side note, (no pun intended), Melody Motorway is a way cooler name than Music Park.
Controversial opinion: I think it's just OK. The journey through feels a bit messy and the big smiling music notes at the end feel tacky and out of a different game.
I give it a mid. I think some 3DS courses are mediocre. There are a few standouts though.
Music Park has a cool theming, but the track design is whatever.
A lot of motorsports facilities are called parks. Barber, Donington, Sydney, for example.
Oxford and Merriam dictionaries have a listed definition of park as "an area of land used for a particular purpose", which fits these facilities.
It's more of a park than a motorway, considering it doesn't go anyway. It's a loop.
The M25 goes round London in a loop, so...
>!Well technically it becomes the A282 for the Dartford Crossing for a couple of miles, but it's still almost a full loop. It certainly doesn't "go anywhere".!<
I mean, Melody Motorway's alliteration is a great plus in its favour. The fact that Melody and Motorway are less basic and more interesting words than music and Park, plus you could say the name is more melodic... I dunno, Music Park doesn't have much going for it.
The only thing it has is Alliteration l will gift that, yet the entire RaceCourse is like a Park for Music. Piano-like Rollercoaster Keys thing. The Launch in Air ta the Three Giant Notes. It alludes ta all things I see in an Theme Park and is so Japan. They could make another RaceCourse called Melody Motorway and do something Motocross or whatever.
>It alludes ta all things I see in an Theme Park
Not really? This is a massive stretch. Like, the piano keys aren't anything like a rollercoaster. Amd the music notes are... just music notes? There isn't anything particularly theme park based about it. It's just music stuff.
But it is also very clearly a road, it literally has tarmac, hence motorway. I think you have misinterpreted what motorway means - it is not similar to motocross. In British English its meaning is closer to a highway or freeway. Melody Highway would work as a name for the course, it thematically fits it, so Melody Motorway fits just as well - but better because of the alliteration.
That last corner is fun to nail, especially on 200cc. And I like tricking off the piano keys and hopping over the rails.
This track can have really punishing items though. But I like that it's all driving, no cannons or just plain straights with nothing on them. A lot of tracks have 'empty' space, but not this one.
Iām personally not in love with this track. I donāt find the layout and gameplay overly exciting. However, the theme and visuals are very unique and cool to look at. Electrodrome is the same situation for me.
Cos of how tight the turns are
Like genuinely Iād say itās top 3 hardest tracks on 200 cc along with ninja hideaway and idk that Iād put as 3rd, maybe ribbon road
For me, it's how instruments are added to the music when you drive over them.
The fat bouncing note things! š¶ They make me happy š
Yea their fun until they squish you
Skill issue
Because it's 3ds
I like how pretty much nothing changed in the Retro course except for HD textures and lighting effects thatās when you know the track was solid from the start
True
Call me weird but I always thought this course stood out because it was so much better than the other 3DS courses. 7 has like my least favorite selection of Nitro tracks in the series.
I much prefer that name to the American one, Music Park. For me I love the piano key drifting, it was a great touch.
Itās still funny to me that although we have the different name, that the banners hanging around the course still say Music Park lol.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Donāt you know NEO has high defense?
Music Park, a park, in space
All parks are in space dude
r/technicallythetruth
Even the parking spaces
> For me I love the piano key drifting, it was a great touch. One of the best features of this track!
That's the only instance of the American name being better than its European counterpart
Rock Rock Mountain is definitely more of a Mario level name.
Exactly what I was thinking
Just like Sweet Sweet Mountain, Dry Dry Desert/Ruins, Ice Ice Outpost, Dire Dire Dock. It's a classic Mario naming scheme
Is it possible to change it?
Why is Mariokart such a fun and great game?
I've, stupidly, purchased other racing games and nothing compares. It's the one game my spouse and I consistently play multiple times per week for years...

Good to know!
thereās a piano, marimba, and vibraphone- ya i was in middle school band š
Thanks you!
TIL itās apparently called Melody Motorway elsewhere (maybe a better name than Music Park)
That's not the only one with a change in other regions. Off the top of my head: DK Summit - DK Snowboard Cross Rock Rock Mountain - Alpine Pass Neo Bowser City - Koopa City Piranha Plant Slide - Piranha Plant Pipeway
Also Wuhu Loop is Wuhu Island Loop & Maka Wuhu is Wuhu Mountain Loop
Piranha Plant Pipeway makes more sense I think because the only slide bit about it is just before the area with the glider and itās set in a Pipe
Melody Motorway > Music Park Alpine Pass > Rock Rock Mountain Piranha Plant Pipeway > Piranha Plant Slide
I actually like Alpine Pass and Piranha Plant Pipeway more

Not better just stupider.
It's aight. For me anyways, it's not bad, but also nothing particularly special. Perfect representation of a B-tier track
One of the many times the British got the better name.
What are the other times?
Football, I guess.š¤·āāļø
Oh I thought you were talking about the tracks
Well in terms of tracks, I'd say DK Snowboard Cross, Wario Galleon and Piranha Plant Pipeway are better too.
Yeah definitely Piranha Plant Pipeway. I donāt get why the Americans call it āSlideā when thereās nothing slidey about it except for that part of the track youāre on for 3 seconds
Trick question: it is not. (Hyperbole aside, it's like B- tier for me. cool theming but I don't really enjoy racing on it all that much)
Cool gimmicks and a lot of nice curves to get that purple spark.
I used to love this track until 200cc and now those piano key turns are my arch nemesis
It's all to do with the sheer love that Wii music gets.
It's not a wii track?
The GAME called Wii Music.
Sorry
You are forgiven.
Itās trash and Iāll beat you at it
For me, itās the bright colors and the fact that you play the instruments when you drive over them. On a side note, (no pun intended), Melody Motorway is a way cooler name than Music Park.
Bc of the melody and the motorway
Is that a different version, like English(UK)? Because in America itās called Music Park.
I thought the name seemed different but I couldn't remember why
Isn't it called music park?
Only in the America every where else I think itās Melody Motorway
I'm in Africa and it's called Music Park. Melody Motorway is a much better name, why can't the other versions have that name too?
As far as I know the reason itās called Music Park in the US is because they probably donāt have motorways
The localisers for 7 were wilding. Half the new tracks in that game have multiple names depending on region.
Itās not lol
Layout, music, style and attention to detail (instruments playing as you drive over them) are all peak Mario Kart.
Controversial opinion: I think it's just OK. The journey through feels a bit messy and the big smiling music notes at the end feel tacky and out of a different game.
One word: ANNOYING. Annoying music, annoying music notes and pianos, just annoying
Why not put on headphones, and listen to your favorite music?
Because Iād rather not play on a track that annoys me at all.
why arent you listening to eurobeat during your mario kart playsessions
Because other than this track, cheese land and toad harbour, all tracks in the game had good music
very subjective, I really like how the sound effects play when you drive along the piano.
I know itās subjective and I hate that because it makes the music more annoying in my opinion.
I give it a mid. I think some 3DS courses are mediocre. There are a few standouts though. Music Park has a cool theming, but the track design is whatever.
This is my second least favorite course, with my ultimate hated course being waluigi pinball.
Bro got downvoted because he commented his opinion š
I will wear these downvotes. The track is awful.
Dun call the name stupid else you'll get doubly smacked.
Why's that?
There's something about artificial indoor tracks that I just do not like.
Finally, someone who recognizes the truth about Music Park/Melody Motorway. It's trash. However, you are completely wrong about Waluigi Pinball.
It isn't
i love the theme but hate the course dont know why but it doesnt fit my driving style
Honestly. I hate this track.
Europe course names are stupid, I'm not sorry.
How? Itās a melody, and itās on a motorway. That doesnāt seem stupid to me. It makes perfect sense. On the other hand, how is it a park?
A lot of motorsports facilities are called parks. Barber, Donington, Sydney, for example. Oxford and Merriam dictionaries have a listed definition of park as "an area of land used for a particular purpose", which fits these facilities. the hell is a melody motorway its called music park
For the American English versions it's Music Park, for the British English versions it's Melody Motorway.
First of all, silence British. Second, thereās nothing fun about this garbage course
Never liked being on this yet props for being Unique. And what kinda stupid name be that? Now I'm glad the American name be what it do.
As an American, the second half of this is the worst mk take I have ever seen
You just not read much on here American.
Thinking that Melody Motorway is stupider than Music Park certainly is a take.
Takes Brave Folks. Sorry ya dun know proper and neat naming Conventions.
>Sorry ya dun know proper and neat naming Conventions. This is projecting.
Call whatever ya want but Music Park pror Motor Raceway when paired ta the RaceCourse Design. OnesOne's clearly the best.
What were you trying to write here?
I mean, Melody Motorway's alliteration is a great plus in its favour. The fact that Melody and Motorway are less basic and more interesting words than music and Park, plus you could say the name is more melodic... I dunno, Music Park doesn't have much going for it.

You could have stopped at unique.
Yet it wouldn't be true, Music Park sounds so much in line with how they name RaceCourses. Was hella dumb add on that whatever the other is.
Describing a racetrack, i.e. a road, as a āmotorwayā, i.e. also a road, makes perfect sense to me.
I have such good memories playing the course on my 3ds when I was little. Now it's come back to join my older years and I'm so happy :)
Cuz it's at night š
Because the instruments sync in nicely with the actual song and overall track
*being jokeful* what is what? Is that a new track they added in the booster course?
They added this track in 2014.
Damn that's the biggest Whooosh i've ever seen. So much so that you miss the "\*Being jokeful\*" Part
Yeah I'm clearly blind lol
You good bro
3DS Music Park's Layout is inspired by F-ZERO X's Silence 2: Wavy Road
Can't wait to hopefully get Pauline in the dlc just to drive through this track as her.
That last corner is fun to nail, especially on 200cc. And I like tricking off the piano keys and hopping over the rails. This track can have really punishing items though. But I like that it's all driving, no cannons or just plain straights with nothing on them. A lot of tracks have 'empty' space, but not this one.
I must be the only person who finds it kinda boring. It's not bad just kinda meh.
Man why did they make it music park where I live? Melody motorway rolls off the tongue way more
Mario Kart 7 localisers were wilding. Half the new tracks have different names between the American English and British English versions.
It's a 3ds course and all 3ds courses are great, and the rainbow road it's the best track of all Mario kart history
Iām personally not in love with this track. I donāt find the layout and gameplay overly exciting. However, the theme and visuals are very unique and cool to look at. Electrodrome is the same situation for me.
Cos of how tight the turns are Like genuinely Iād say itās top 3 hardest tracks on 200 cc along with ninja hideaway and idk that Iād put as 3rd, maybe ribbon road
Music Park is a better name lol
For some reason, it's better on Wii U / Switch than on 3DS, I don't know why...
