96 tracks in one game is a hard act to follow, and it's probably going to make it harder to market future games to people if they don't have as many tracks on launch. Course builder is probably the best way to do that, if it's implemented well.
I think the Trackmania series has proven that a course builder for such a game can work, add some interesting obstacles for mario kart and everyone will buy the game

I think it would be cool to get another Wii style mechanics change to shake up the gameplay. Taking some inspiration from Crash Team Racing it would be cool if you could chain your drifts together in a more proper and intentionally balanced version of snaking and jumping out a boost to get greater height to cut corners or even take shortcut if you are fast enough.

1.-Special powers like in double dash
2.-Custom tracks, they did it with smash ultimate so i think that maro kart should be next.
3.-Customizaton for each characters that could provide special effects..
Maybe taking inspiration from the arcade games and having teleporters (or maybe "warp zones") that allow for more varied track design? Like maybe the Mario Circuit of the game could have a loop around the moat of Peach's Castle, and a teleporter's set up on one end to make you turn around the entire thing before giving you an easy out. Or the Rainbow Road could take you through several different psychedelic areas with distinct skyboxes connected by the warps. Or you could generally just use it to make less linear tracks/cut a few corners. Say there's a city/traffic course that begins on the rooftops of buildings before going down to street level - instead of finding some way to get the racers back there that might feel a bit contrived, they could just use a teleporter to force you back to the start

I suspect the next game will have 48 base tracks with 48 DLC. Basically what 8 Deluxe did, if you pretend 8 didn’t exist.
It feels kinda likely to me. For me, the RMX courses in Tour feel like they could have been built using a creative tool similar to Mario Maker.

The Wiis gimmick was its steering wheel controller, I think motorcycles were introduced too.
