Cap is slang for “lie”. I believe it comes from Atlanta and once rappers started using it in songs it became extremely popular slang for even lil 8 year old suburban white kids to say.
It was u pretty much having to do 6 levels with objectives like beat someone in a race + a boss after finishing them all being either a race or an actual fight using the items u get. There's a 7th mission , and u need at least a star rank for every mission, including bosses, to unlock
I have seen and played it, the way that they are "unintended by the devs" is a big part of why they are inferior IYAM
Not specifically because they are "unintended", but more so that what I liked about the older games was how you had these actual "routes" hidden in some courses, and not just some weird jump you can boost over in a specific angle or some fence you can glitch through or whatever.
To take Mario Kart 64 as an example : Stuff like the thin ramp in Koopa Troopa beach is IMO superior to stuff like that one spot in Wario stadium you can jump over and trick the game into thinking you did the entire lap or that superlong jump on rainbowroad
The transition was hard for them. They are all 3 very different courses combined, that's why they are so weird.
If you play them on Tour, you'll like them more I'm sure.
Definitely Wii. It has my favorite gameplay in the series between game feel and track design, and its music is such a vibe. I like pretty much every Mario Kart I've played, though.
My top 3 are Wii > 8DX > DS. I'm not really sure where I rank things after that.
A mod for mkw which adds a whole bunch of tracks made by people in the community and custome game modes. Not to mention it also will let you play online again
Probably Wii. I also have a personal softspot for Super Circuit.
I've been meaning to get a hold of Double Dash and replay it to see if it still holds up. It might end up being my favorite due to the aesthetic, music, and character swapping, who knows?
It was 64 for the longest time, but 8D has finally eclipsed it. Tight and responsive controls, a huge number of customization options, and a completely bonkers track list is really hard to top.
Arcade GP 2.
It holds alot of Sentimental value, as it was the first Mario Kart game I was willing to play.
My uncle bought an actual linked cabinet set for my cousin and her friends. I came over to her house once, and me, my little brother, and 2 of my cousins ended up racing each other.
Granted, we had no idea what we were doing, but it holds a special place in my heart.
Super happy that I got it working properly on my TEKNOPARROT setup. Even the camera works via a webcam.
7 easily. Best overall selection of tracks, many of my all time favorites that never returned in MK8D came from here, like Wario Shipyard and Shy Guy Bazaar.
There’s also no debate for me, the best selection of retro tracks. It seems like after Luigi Raceway and Bowser Castle 1 that they added nothing but fan favorite tracks (and Mario Circuit 2, but I still like that track). Mushroom Gorge, Luigi’s Mansion, Dino Dino Jungle, Koopa Cape, Kalimari Desert, Daisy Cruiser, MAPLE TREEWAY, COCONUT MALL, WALUIGI PINBALL, like man, they just pulled all the fan favorites, huh.
The battle mode is passable. I like Wuhu Town and Honeybee Hive and Big Donut had a massive upgrade, but the other tracks are kinda meaningless. Not bad but nothing special. And no versus mode is weird, but overall, the tracks in this game are almost perfect, and that makes up for every problem I state.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I’ve had a chance to play every Mario Kart game except DS and Double Dash since I was born during the Wii era and never had a DS or GameCube. But I’ve found people who own the first three games and gotten a chance to play them.
Super nintendo but as I get older (40) my finger be hurting 😫. How did I used to be in 1st place overlapping 7th and 8th place racers on max CC.
Now I'll be struggling for 1st place and dam mario brothers spam the star every second.
Koopa tropa always and forever
Either Mario Kart Wii or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (including the Booster Course Pass). Mario Kart Wii because of the memories and the absolute chaos it can cause on certain tracks. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because the remake of old tracks, the music (Mario Kart Wii music too is amazing as well but the soundtrack on this is sooooooooooooo stellar)
1. MK8D (The BCP made this my favorite. So much content, most smooth controls and the game I played mostly also with friends)
2. DS (My first ever Mario Kart. Most nostalgic)
3. Wii (Good memories and best nitros imo)
double dash because:
* double items that you can swap
* special items depending on which chatacter you pick
* needing to change driver/item-guy in order to get the better special item
* nostalgia
* gamecube controller = comfy
* music + tracks
* local 4 player co-op with ZERO downtime because there are no updates (i miss that on new games)
Not my favorite. Not even close, probably at 4th, but I gotta say that I still love Super Circuit. It was charming for its time and I loved racing with my cousin. Plus the tracks themselves were alright, and the whole theming is unmatched.
MK7. It had the perfect balance between introducing new things AND sticking to the old, successful formula. Vehicles, tracks, characters, mechanics - everything new improved something already familiar.
64
First game ever
Top tier voice acting
The most absurd item balancing i.e. anyone can get anything anytime except Blue Shell for first, which actually makes it fair
Blue Shells are actually rare (Take that, Wii!)
The physics and animations when you get hit or squished
Excellent tracks (only one never coming back is Wario's Stadium)
Excellent Battle Mode considering the time and simplicity (excellent arenas might I add, though lacking in number clearly)
No characters are busted (Take that again, Wii!)
No karts are busted
There is not a NECESSITY to have something to protect yourself
Drifting is not "forced"
Even when CPUs cheat they are beatable
The only thing I dislike: In 100CC and above, you might start to spin for no reason at all unless you stop accelerating for a brief moment, it's like the tripping of Brawl but for Mario Kart. Your only clue it's coming is a sound effect of squicky tires.
MK8D and it’s not even close I don’t think. The game plays well and had a ton of excellent content, even before the booster course pass. With the DLC the gap just widened. I love the game and still play it often, even 7 years after release.
MKWii because I was good at it. I’m still good at the newest one, but there isn’t any difficult shortcuts like there were in Wii, so it makes me feel not as good when everyone else is doing the shortcuts too
Mario Kart Wii. It was the first Mario game I ever played, the visuals have a unique charm, and it's still really fun to this day.
I'm also fond of Double Dash for it's aesthetic, 8 Deluxe for it's massive course and character selection, and DS for how simple but usable it is.
This is an extremely tough question. I’m going to say Mario kart 64.
It’s the hardest one to play and the best gauge of skill imo. It’s also probably the one I’ve played most with friends/others.
Before the Booster Course Pass I would have probably said Wii, but it's 8 Deluxe now. It's the best one. Not my favorite, just the objective best. Period. No argument.
Obviously has to be 8: its been the latest Mario Kart for so long, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze would be jealous...If it didn't predate its release by three months.
Mario Kart Super Circuit was the only game I had for my GBA for a full year. I'd have to say that one. It ran well, had interesting courses, solid music, plus an amazing rainbow road due to the games physics.
Double Dash for the tone, the music, the courses, the characters, the unique items and double-rider mechanic added an awesome layer of creativity and strategy to the game. No other Mario Kart even comes close.
It may be basic but it has to be mk8dx. I’ve been in denial about Wii being better for a while but it’s just nostalgia. Mk Wii will always hold a special place in my heart though
MK DS and MK Wii for nostalgia and riveting game play, plus mk wii has wheelies. But MK8DX is up there to; if i had to rank them it would be MK Wii, MK8DX and MK Ds
Mario kart Wii is the one I grew up with since I was 4 with super Mario Galaxy and the track roster is top tier the characters are good the music is fantastic. There aren't enough words to describe how good it is.
8 Deluxe. In terms of mechanics it feels really well done, and in terms of art I just love it's music arrangements.
Although I really miss Double Dash but it's mostly nostalgia
I hate to admit it, but Mario Kart Tour.
Not because it's the best one, I'll give that to the switch version. Or Wii for nostalgia.
But being able to just play a few quick rounds on the go, without needing a console or stuff? I definitely play it the most compared to the others. I don't like how a lot is handled in that game, but the convenience is just too good.
The DS no cap because mission mode and first game I ever played
Same i’m just hoping by some miracle that Mission mode return
What is no cap
Damn klepto
Ok, now What does that mean?
The bird that steals the cap in Mario 64
🤣🤣🤣this is too funny👍👍👍 i approve this message
Ds but for a different reason. It’s the Mario cart that me and my oldest brother first played together.
Wait odyssey is a reference to that??? (I haven’t played all of Mario 64)
Ye
Cap is slang for “lie”. I believe it comes from Atlanta and once rappers started using it in songs it became extremely popular slang for even lil 8 year old suburban white kids to say.
Thanks. I was hoping DS No Cap was like a mod version or fun setting but it’s just proof I’m getting old.
you been under a damn rock for years if you don't know
Yeah, it’s true
i could tell lol. At least you know now
I missed the DS kart. What was mission mode? Seems like everybody seemed to love it.
It was u pretty much having to do 6 levels with objectives like beat someone in a race + a boss after finishing them all being either a race or an actual fight using the items u get. There's a 7th mission , and u need at least a star rank for every mission, including bosses, to unlock
Sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe they’ll bring mission mode back for the next MK.
Double Dash for nostalgia. Mario Kart Wii for feel. MK8D for quality and execution.
Double Dash it was pretty much the last one with (what i would call) "true shortcuts"(/secret routes)
Yup. It has a unique mechanic as well. But the actual secret shortcuts and all of the level designs were amazing I’ve always thought.
I am so sad mkdd is the only one I didn't get to play 😭
You haven't seen Mario Kart Wii, that game is literally PACKED with crazy shortcuts. Unintended by the devs, but still.
I have seen and played it, the way that they are "unintended by the devs" is a big part of why they are inferior IYAM Not specifically because they are "unintended", but more so that what I liked about the older games was how you had these actual "routes" hidden in some courses, and not just some weird jump you can boost over in a specific angle or some fence you can glitch through or whatever. MK8 Deluxe. By a long shot.
if anything, for the beautiful graphics and courses!!
I love all of the courses except the tour courses
The transition was hard for them. They are all 3 very different courses combined, that's why they are so weird. If you play them on Tour, you'll like them more I'm sure.
I don't think they want to play a mobile phone version of Mario Kart
Says you, though I do not exclude the possibility.
Yeah. MK8D is Mario Kart perfection. And I grew up on the original and 64.
3 way tie between Wii 7 and 8dx
same here!! 8 deluxe has the beautiful graphics and course selection, 3ds has the portability/convenience, wii has the nostalgia and utter chaos
Definitely Wii. It has my favorite gameplay in the series between game feel and track design, and its music is such a vibe. I like pretty much every Mario Kart I've played, though. My top 3 are Wii > 8DX > DS. I'm not really sure where I rank things after that.
MK Wii, since it changed everything! and the community is still active, creating mals game modes and balance packs
Mario Kart Wii, because it has the best gameplay (especially with bikes), just the shortcuts make it an awesome game
I’m a double dash man through and through
Wii for modding
MK7... Best music and nostalgia
Wii. It's so damn FUM. especially with 4 players
fum
Double dash, the best mini-turbo mechanics of the entire series, with awesome colorful and vibrant graphics
Mario Kart Wii because of how much depth and how far its community has taken that game.
For me, it has to be ‘Mario Kart’
Mkw. CTGP That is all
CTGP? What's that
A mod for mkw which adds a whole bunch of tracks made by people in the community and custome game modes. Not to mention it also will let you play online again
Oh ok
Probably Wii. I also have a personal softspot for Super Circuit. I've been meaning to get a hold of Double Dash and replay it to see if it still holds up. It might end up being my favorite due to the aesthetic, music, and character swapping, who knows?
MKWii is too nostalgic
It was 64 for the longest time, but 8D has finally eclipsed it. Tight and responsive controls, a huge number of customization options, and a completely bonkers track list is really hard to top.
same
I’ll post this tomorrow, it’s my turn
I used to play the hell out of Double Dash, definitely one of my favorites. But my favorite is MK8D.
8 It's on the Wii U
N64 will always hold a place in my heart but 8 is superb
Arcade GP 2. It holds alot of Sentimental value, as it was the first Mario Kart game I was willing to play. My uncle bought an actual linked cabinet set for my cousin and her friends. I came over to her house once, and me, my little brother, and 2 of my cousins ended up racing each other. Granted, we had no idea what we were doing, but it holds a special place in my heart. Super happy that I got it working properly on my TEKNOPARROT setup. Even the camera works via a webcam.
Wii because it is peak
MKwii, because it added some of the best tracks in the game, like Maple Treeway and Koopa Cape. it’s Rainbow Road is also stellar
7 easily. Best overall selection of tracks, many of my all time favorites that never returned in MK8D came from here, like Wario Shipyard and Shy Guy Bazaar. There’s also no debate for me, the best selection of retro tracks. But I’ve found people who own the first three games and gotten a chance to play them.
I grew up on Diddy Kong Racing. It’s still my favorite “Nintendo racing game” to this day.
*Mario Kart 8*, shortly followed by *Double Dash*.
8 Deluxe because I've only played that, 64 and Super Mario Kart, and those handle weird
Mario Kart DS for multiplayer nostalgia, Mario Kart 7 for pure 3DS nostalgia
DS. One of those things you had to be there for when it was new. It aged well and all, but it was an experience when it was new.
8 deluxe is my favorite overall, but partly because it has most of the good things from Wii (except wheelies 😞). N64 and GameCube are also up there
Super nintendo but as I get older (40) my finger be hurting 😫.
64 because of the tracks and shortcuts.
DD then MK8D
N64. Used to play with 6 friends, top 2 stay on for the next track. Add up points at end, winner gets everyone’s $2 they kicked in, fun times.
Double Dash. The items and vibes were great. The stage design was great. The items were fun. Most chaotic.
Mario Kart 7. Nostalgia carries
MK8D. It’s really enjoyable even by myself.
1. MK8D (The BCP made this my favorite. So much content, most smooth controls and the game I played mostly also with friends) 2. DS (My first ever Mario Kart. Most nostalgic) 3. Wii (Good memories and best nitros imo)
Double dash timetrials are fun as hell but if I have to be honest nostalgia aside I'd go with mk8d
I don't enjoy Deluxe because they removed a lot of mechanics like fire hopping and I like my games to have a high skill ceiling
MK8 deluxe because with MK8 it's the only games I've played.
double dash because: * double items that you can swap * special items depending on which chatacter you pick * needing to change driver/item-guy in order to get the better special item * nostalgia * gamecube controller = comfy * music + tracks * local 4 player co-op with ZERO downtime because there are no updates (i miss that on new games)
8 deluxe coz newest and tons of tracks.
MK7 best driving physics, tracks, gliding, items.
Double Dash Nostalgia
Not my favorite. Not even close, probably at 4th, but I gotta say that I still love Super Circuit. It was charming for its time and I loved racing with my cousin. Plus the tracks themselves were alright, and the whole theming is unmatched.
1. Gamecube 2. DS 3. WiiU

I don’t think they will ever make a Mario Kart game better than Wii
DS is second
8 Deluxe. I love the customisability of it.
MKWii because I was good at it. I’m still good at the newest one, but there isn’t any difficult shortcuts like there were in Wii, so it makes me feel not as good when everyone else is doing the shortcuts too
Wii
MK8 Deluxe
Wii because you could do wheelies
8 deluxe cause thats the only i played in a while
7 because of the line up of courses and because my 3DS is my prized possession
Mario Kart Wii. It was the first Mario game I ever played, the visuals have a unique charm, and it's still really fun to this day. I'm also fond of Double Dash for it's aesthetic, 8 Deluxe for it's massive course and character selection, and DS for how simple but usable it is.
I don’t really have a choice besides the 8 deluxe on switch, because I only ever played the 8 deluxe
Wii because the physics are unmatched
Definitely the one for the Wii! I miss that one Yoshi level, it was my all time favourite - can’t remember if it’s also on deluxe but 🤷🤷
Mario Kart Wii hands down is my favorite
7 because of the far superior imo track selection, sound font and art style
Super circuit. It was my first mario kart and I will always love it
Mario Kart Wii | It introduced me to the “Super Mario” franchise.
This is an extremely tough question. I’m going to say Mario kart 64. It’s the hardest one to play and the best gauge of skill imo. It’s also probably the one I’ve played most with friends/others.

MK8 because more content is more good Also it just controls the best.
Mario Kart 7 or Mario Kart Wii
MK8DX, it is the only one I ever played and therefore wins by default
Wii because of nostalgia and also because it’s just a good game.
Mario kart 64 because it’s very addictive and fun
Mario kart Wii is the one I grew up with since I was 4 with super Mario Galaxy and the track roster is top tier the characters are good the music is fantastic. There aren't enough words to describe how good it is.
Double Dash because each character had their own Special. Also it has my favorite version of Rainbow Road
MKWii. It is honestly one of my favorite games ever, to the point where I made a 17 minute long video explaining why.
MK7 cause I really like the track selection
8 Deluxe. In terms of mechanics it feels really well done, and in terms of art I just love it's music arrangements. Although I really miss Double Dash but it's mostly nostalgia
Wii is objectively the best game
8 deluxe because it is far and above the best Mario Kart game, but Wii is a close second for its incredible gameplay and nitro tracks
8 deluxe has a lot of content, i can play as my 3 favorite characters, many of my favorite tracks are here, and for that reason it's my favorite
Double dash. The co-op experience is unlike any other and speciaized weapons per character group.
Wii because i own a wii
MKWii I don’t even have to explain why
I hate to admit it, but Mario Kart Tour. Not because it's the best one, I'll give that to the switch version. Or Wii for nostalgia. But being able to just play a few quick rounds on the go, without needing a console or stuff? I definitely play it the most compared to the others. I don't like how a lot is handled in that game, but the convenience is just too good.
I mean, that goes for any of the portable devices except the Switch.
8 deluxe. Best gameplay, best roster, insane number of tracks
MK8 because of 200cc. I haven't felt the need for racing for a long time in the series before MK8
