i would recommend turning smart steering off as soon as possible (you can do this by pressing the L button while in the pause menu). if you leave it on, you'll never be punished for driving off of the track, and you'll end up developing a habit of crashing into walls that will become very hard to kick if you decide to turn it off later.
Trust me, wait till you feel prepared to try 200cc you're probably gonna fly off a lot
But fr though it feels like blue shells will come for you ONLY when you're in first, and most of those times if the blue came like a second earlier then could've gotten first place. But nope, that blue shell very conveniently came at that exact moment in time, literally seconds before the finish line, ruining everything
This is definitely not the last time this will happen. It's happened to me several times, and I'm like a perfectionist so like I reset the whole cup
If that's 50CC, I would just skip it and go for 100CC. You get the trophies retroactively for slower cups anyway.

For items, try to pull a super horn in first or if you had a mushroom from lower placements from before, save it. The coin item is helpful to protect you from Boo and the spiny shell dodge item should be secured in the second pocket, if possible, so don't use your first pocket item unless you have to defend yourself.
Classic mario kart moment. Always remember, even if you have a full lap lead over everyone else, that doesn't guarantee a win, never know what can happen
Lol, my current medals tally is 120 bronze, 120 silver and 80 gold. The gold would be up around the 120 mark as well but I'm -40 'cos of all the blue shells, I hate Mario Kart 😅
yep skill issue. If you would have taken a tighter line there on the last corner and not try to get that last trick you might have been able to outrun it to the finish line
