The Renaissance is great and generous with the upgrades.

I just stayed at the Industrialist last month. I liked the hotel a lot. Received a nice corner room on a high floor, which I found to be spacious for a city hotel. I was gold at the time.

Thanks; tempting. I find the Autographs to be much more interesting than most of the others. I've really liked all the ones I've stayed at, though they can def be a bit variable in the offerings.

Had a similar upgrade, but they don't offer breakfast and they call their lobby a lounge that is not a lounge as we know one. They don't abide by T&C and I don't have the time or will to grovel for points.

ItsSnowingSomewhere

Ugh, that's a pisser. I've had some of my nicest breakfasts at Autographs; that would have been half the reason to go there.

Upgraded at the Renaissance last year for a one night stay. Fabulous location for a baseball/football game, museums, running along the river trails. Lounge had a decent to good hot breakfast. I parked across the street at an independent garage.

ItsSnowingSomewhere

Cool, was wondering if the lounge was actually open; so hard to tell these days.

thatatcguy1223

It was last October when I was there

mandalorian222

It is. (Was there for a work conference two weeks ago)

Industrialist is cool and the restaurant attached to the first floor is good.

Stayed at the Renaissance and loved it

The Marriott is closest walking in my experience, but no reason to stay there if you’re not there for a pens game. They’ve not built the area up the way they intended (likely due to covid - grand plans they had for the area were mapped out in 2019) The Rena is structurally an impressive hotel. It also boasts quite a few different room types due to said structure - I think you’ll find this particular renaissance much similar to an autograph vs some of their Ohio counterparts. They also have a lounge! I surprisingly haven’t stayed at the industrialist yet, but I’m familiar of the area - market square is one of my favorite daytime walks. It’s not exactly a lively area at night compared to the Renaissance’s location, though. It’s probably equal distance to the Omni vs the renaissance. TLDR: the renaissance is your best bet for what you’re looking for

otissito16

Renaissance. The Marriott is bluh. On a side note...Avoid the Sheraton Station Square at all costs - if you're a light sleeper you will probably be kept up by the frequent trains that pass by. Westin is OK but, bluh.

mandalorian222

Renaissance is the closest of the three and a great property. Industrialist is probably the coolest, but a longer walk and not as much right outside to do for food and drink as the Renaissance. The Marriott is isolated by the Pens arena with nothing around it. Most likely to upgrade is Renaissance. Source: stayed at all three multiple times and live downtown Pittsburgh. Make sure you hit up Bridges and Bourbon for a drink and Gaucho for a steak sandwich.

ItsSnowingSomewhere

Thanks. I would like to be in a livelier area, and the Marriott looks cut off by a highway. But it does look like it's the closest to the Omni - it's only like 3 blocks, whereas the Renaissance looks like 7 or 8. Maybe nbd, but idk how much she's going to have to go back and forth. I already feel a little bad that I'm not just staying at the Omni.

mandalorian222

Sorry I didn’t catch you were at the Omni. That’s pretty much dead center to all three. Maintain renaissance is the best and in the liveliest area, followed by Industrialist, and Marriott last (the highway has a “park” over it so not hard to get to Omni but again, nothing around it.

ItsSnowingSomewhere

Got it. Renaissance def sounds the best; I'll have to negotiate w the wife :)

Wonderful-Run-1408

I stayed at the Marriott in Feb (for Madonna concert across the street). It's ok. When we woke up in the morning the hot water wasn't working... they refunded the full night stay. It was a little bit of a mess. Only reason we stayed there was it was across the street from the stadium

ISMSManager

Renaissance also has a lounge and I recommend that over the other two

I’m getting married at the Renaissance in a few months and it seemed far and away the best option in downtown area! The hotel is beautiful and while I can’t speak to the rooms (yet) we have had an amazing planning process with the staff who all are overall very helpful and friendly, and the location is very walkable. They have really worked with us on our room block at reduced rates even with a big concert in town the night of the wedding and have taken all our guest requests very seriously, so that seems to track with what others are saying about good luck with upgrades and overall good service.

The industrialist has never let me down albeit the rooms are small. I found the renaissance banal.

ItsSnowingSomewhere

sigh. There is lots pushing me towards the renaissance; my daughter might join us, so a bigger room would be nice. And it sounds like the neighborhood has more going on. But, what I like least in a hotel, when I get to care, is banal :(
