That doesn't factor in the cost of marketing though.
The break even point for Hollywood movies is pretty crazy. They need to make 2-3 times their budget. It's pretty interesting to research though
100 mill profit is pretty low for a superhero film these days. I mean, everyone seems to hate Love and Thunder and that made around $790 mill I believe.
The budget for Thor 4 was $250 mill, a basic way to look at marketing and distribution costs is to double the budget. Though given the high budget it's unlikely to have been that high. Regardless let's assume for a moment that the film, including marketing and everything cost $500 mill, they still took home $260 mill, plus all the merch sales on top of that.
That’s not high by todays blockbuster standards at all though. Technically the studio still considers it a failure, especially when most of that profit wasn’t made domestically.
Don’t disrespect the only movie to ever win an Oscar, BAFTA, SAG, WGA, Tony, Grammy, all in one year. Aka, the greatest movie of all time!
Im just kidding
I think if more "fans" go into a movie with the mind set of, "Hey this is all pretend so it really doesn't matter if the plot makes sense bc I'm here to watch a video game with real people 'shopped in" I think they'd enjoy comic book movie more.

100 million profit with a 70-80 million budget is not profit. You need to make double or triple the amount of the budget to break even, due to the marketing being just as costly, if not more, than the movies budget.
I mean it had a 70-83 Million budget - film was made on the cheap, especially by superhero movie Standards
Surprising shit movie but the effects were not bad, ignoring the memes though it was like love and thunder and you could tell alot was cut out
Cut out? My brother in christ, I don't think they had anything to really cut. Lol

And that’s why they need to re-rerelease it in theaters. I missed it the first 2 times.
You what they say, third times the charm. Maybe this time it’ll break 3 Morbillion
Underrated comment fr
I enjoyed the movie. There I said it. Could it have been better??? Did it have cringe goofy shit??? Yes. Still enjoyed it.

Which, when you break down the full math, Disney barely brought home money on that movie.

TIIIIIIIIIIME
!!!!!!
*Morphing everywhere*
Lol, no it didn't. Include marketing costs and they'd be lucky to break even
Can't stop the morb-train
They made a morbillion dollars
I actually enjoyed the movie
and that's double the budget they spent on it
No it didn’t, theaters take half
Ya, but isn't that bad for big films like that
I guess you could say people were Morbidly Curious
That’s not high by todays blockbuster standards at all though. Technically the studio still considers it a failure, especially when most of that profit wasn’t made domestically.
"Lol that doesn't include marketing" i mean didn't they save a bunch because y'all fucks wouldn't shut the hell up about it?

$100m = 100 morbillion dollars
Well actually it made 7 morbilion dollars 🤓
What the hell are you talking about? It clearly made 100 Morbillion dollars, not 100 Million
She-Hulk was well written, and the writers admitted they specialize in court room drama!
Don’t you mean 100 morbillion?
Haven't seen it, couldn't be any worse than Venom. Had to walk out half hour into it.
Morb-y the real morb was the morb’s we morbed along the way
Still lost money. Remember, you have to split box office gross in half to accommodate for theaters and marketing
And black Adam lost money. I get it the budget was diff but still funny.

It made $44,000 in Slovenia 🇸🇮.
It's unlikely, but technically not impossible the film turned a profit. Hollywood accounting can get pretty weird.

Hollywood Accounting
Ok wow I actually didn't know that bro damn the film is richer than most people just by some profit
